Work Text:
"Why did you do it?"
"Do what?"
"Thank her."
"Shouldn't I have?"
"It makes you weak. Sure, she forgave you now, but that doesn't change the fact that you've always come up with a thousand different ways to earn forgiveness, and none of them involved saying thank you."
"It was the right thing to do."
"Why?"
"She needed it."
"And since when do you care about what other people need?"
"It's not other people. It's Teresa."
"Wake up, Patrick! You won't be able to get your revenge if you grow attached to her!"
"I'll get my revenge. I have to."
"That revenge is yours. You can't involve her."
"I don't want to involve her."
"You've already told her too much."
"But too much is also what I'm still hiding from her."
"Too much? A poem and a gun? Too much? You told her there's a mole inside the CBI! What if it's her?"
"It's not her. It can't be her. Anyone but her."
"Not her? And why is that?"
"Because she's Teresa. She's the woman who needs saving and the knight who saves me, the thirsty one I give water to and the spring that quenches my thirst."
"So because you're in love with her, she can't betray you."
"Exactly."
"..."
"No, wait! I'm not... even if I were... that's not why..."
"Then what is it?"
"Love has nothing to do with it. It's just that she..."
"She's Teresa, I know. And I know that's enough."
