The top floor of the casino hotel was silent except for the distant hum of the city far below. Floor-to-ceiling windows overlooked Seoul's glittering skyline, casting cold reflections across the massive office. At its center stood a single mahogany desk, polished to perfection, with a black leather chair behind it like a throne. This was the domain of Choi Mujin, South Korea's most feared and ruthless mafia leader. And tonight, Jung Taeju—his trusted right-hand man—stood before him after failing a mission for the first time.
Mujin's eyes burned with fury as he stared at Taeju from behind the desk.
"You missed."
His voice was low, but it carried enough weight to make the room feel smaller.
"The target is alive. An innocent man is dead. Tell me, Taeju..." He leaned forward slowly, fingers tapping against the mahogany surface. "Why shouldn't I see this as incompetence?"
Taeju opened his mouth to explain, but the words caught in his throat before he could utter a single sound. His hands trembled faintly at his sides, clenched into fists as he struggled to steady himself. He had never failed a mission before—not once. Every order Choi Mujin had given him had been carried out flawlessly, without hesitation or mistake.
But today was different.
The image replayed relentlessly in his mind: the black coat, the crowded street, the split-second decision he had made without a second thought. By the time he realized his mistake, it was already too late. The wrong man had fallen, and the real target had disappeared.
Taeju lowered his gaze, his jaw tightening. No matter how many times he went over it in his head, he couldn't understand how he had made such a simple error. A black coat. That was all he had needed to identify. Something so basic, so obvious, yet somehow he had failed to distinguish one man from another.
And now he stood before Mujin, unable to offer an explanation even to himself.
Mujin slams his fist on the desk, making everything rattle. His cold eyes bore into you with pure fury
“You incompetent piece of shit! I told you to kill Park Taewoo, not some random bastard in a black coat!”
Mujin's expression darkened further. Without warning, he rounded the desk in a few measured strides, the sharp sound of his shoes echoing across the silent office.
Before Taeju could react, a hand shot out and seized the front of his collar.
The force of it jerked Taeju forward, dragging him off balance. The fabric of his shirt tightened around his throat as Mujin pulled him close enough that there was barely any space between them
“DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU’VE DONE? Park Taewoo is still alive, and now he knows we’re coming for him! The whole operation is compromised because of your stupid mistake!”
He shoves you back against the wall hard enough to knock the breath out of you. Mujin pulls out his gun in one swift motion, pressing the cold barrel under your chin. His voice is eerie calm now – the most dangerous sign of all
“You have exactly ten seconds to give me a damn good reason why I shouldn’t blow your brains out right here”
The clock ticks ominously in the background as he counts down with chilling precision. Mujin’s finger rests on the trigger, his face completely blank – no rage, no hesitation. Just cold calculation.
“Five… four…”
The gun doesn’t waver. The safety click is deafening in the silent room. Your life hangs by a thread as he continues counting with terrifying serenity. Mujin reaches “Two”… and suddenly lowers the gun. But instead of relief, his face twist into something worse – a cruel smirk.
“Actually… I’ve got a better idea.”
He tosses the gun aside and cracks his knuckle, eyes glinting with sadistic intent.
“You’re going to wish I just shot you.”
Without warning, Mujin delivers a brutal punch straight to your jaw – so hard it snaps your head to the side. Blood instantly fills your mouth from split lips.
“First lesson,” he growls, “aiming like an idiot has consequences.”
Before you can even process the pain, he grabs a fistful of your hair and yanks you up for another strike. Mujin’s second punch lands on your stomach – knocking the air from your lungs. You crumple to the ground, gasping like a
fish out of water.
He kicks you in the ribs with his steel-toed boot, sending sharp pain radiating through your body. Blood drips from both your nose and mouth now.
“Pathetic,” he sneers, “You’re not even worth killing. Just beating.”
Mujin grabs your limp body by the hair again, dragging you across the floor like a ragdoll. He threw you to the floor and stood over you, his presence intimidating and inescapable, wiping his bloody knuckles on your suit. From his desk drawer, he pulls out something worse than a gun – a thick metal pipe. The weight of it alone makes your stomach drop.
“You’re gonna learn what happens when my orders fail,” he says quietly – too quiet.
Mujin raises the pipe high above his head, muscle tensing. For a split second, you see pure murder in his eyes – the kind of rage that doesn’t just punish… it destroys.
CRACK.
The first blow lands across your shoulders with devasting force. Bone creak under the impact as pain explodes through your entire upper body.
“You,” another brutal swing, “fucked up,” A third hit to the knee, “badly!”
Taeju bit down hard on his lower lip, forcing himself to suppress the scream threatening to escape. The sharp sting of pain spread through his mouth, but he welcomed it, using it as a distraction from everything else. His jaw tightened as he fought to keep his composure, his breathing growing uneven.
He knew better than to make a sound.
Years at Mujin's side had taught him that much. Complaints, excuses, and cries of pain earned no sympathy. Showing weakness was dangerous, especially now. So Taeju remained silent, swallowing every trace of agony and forcing himself to stand still despite the tremor running through his body.
The metallic taste of blood filled his mouth where his teeth had broken the skin of his lip, but he refused to let out so much as a whimper.
The guard outside exchange nervous glances – no one dares interrupt when Mujin is like this. They’ve seen men die from less violence.
Mujin’s breathing steady despite the frenzy of his attack. The pipe keeps rising and falling – you back, your arms, your legs taking brutal hits. A particularly vicious swing aims for your ribs – the sound of cracking bone echoes through the room.
“WAIT TILL I’M DONE WITH YOU!” he suddenly yells.
Mujin finally stops, panting slightly – not from exhaustion, but from the adrenaline of his rage. Taeju is curled in a broken heap on the floor, barely conscious through waves of white-hot pain.
For a moment… silence
Then Mujin grabs you by your suit again and drags you towards the door. The guards quickly step aside as he pulls Taeju out into the hallway – toward something worse than just beating.
The underground torture chamber awaits
Mujin kicks open the heavy steel door to the chamber – a cold, dimly lit room filled with terrifying tools: pliers, branding irons, syringes of unknown substances. The air smells like rust and sweat from previous.. sessions.
He shoves Taeju onto a metal chair bolted to the floor. Two guards immediately move in – strapping you down tightly with leather restraints.
“Let’s see how loyal you really are,” Mujin says softly as he picks up a pair of electric wires connected to a generator. Mujin plugs the wires into a small device that cackles with dangerous energy. The guards secure electrodes to Taeju’s chest – cold metal sticking to sweat-slick skin.
He flips a switch.
ZZZZTTT!
A violent shock rips through Taeju’s body – the pain is unlike anything before, muscles seizing uncontrollably as his back arches against the restraints. A strangled scream tears from his throat.
Mujin watches impassively, turning the voltage up slightly for round two.
The second shock hits even harder – Mujin has cranked the voltage op mercilessly. Taeju’s body convulse like a puppet on strings, muscles spasming out of control. Saliva drips from his gaping mouth as he chokes on his own screams.
Tears and sweat stream down his face, mixing with blood from where he bit through his lips during the first jolt. Mujin observes coldly – the tears don’t move him. If anything, they fuel him further.
“Again,” he orders one of the guards who hastily prepares another higher setting. The third shock is brutal – Mujin isn’t playing around anymore. The voltage surges through Taeju’s body with devastating intensity, his vision tunneling as every nerve ending screams in agony.
His scream comes out hoarse and broken, more of a guttural whimper than anything human. Foam starts bubbling at the corners of his mouth from involuntary muscle contractions.
One guard winces – even he finds this too much – but Mujin just smirks and signals for… round four. This time he grabs the controls himself.
Mujin cranks the voltage to its maximum — a level usually reserved for hardened criminals. The machine whines ominously as it builds up power.
KKKRRRTTT!!
The fourth shock hits like lightning - Taeju's entire body seizes violently, his back arching so hard the restraints strain. For a terrifying second, his eyes roll back—his mind briefly short-circuiting from pure pain overload.
When consciousness flickers back, he's drooling and trembling uncontrollably... but still alive. Mujin tilts his head slightly — almost curious how much more Taeju can take.
Mujin pauses, studying Taeju's wrecked form—his chest heaving, limbs twitching weakly from the aftershocks. The machine hums ominously in standby mode. For a brief moment... silence. Then Mujin suddenly grabs Taeju's face with one hand, forcing his blurry eyes to focus on him.
"Still breathing?" he asks flatly—not out of concern, but clinical observation.
Without waiting for an answer (not that Taeju could speak), he releases him and turns toward a table covered in... sharper tools this time: knives, pliers... and something that looks suspiciously like a branding iron heating up in the corner.
Mujin picks up a rusted pliers, testing its grip with a cold twist of his wrist. His expression is completely detached—like he's about to perform surgery rather than torture.
He grabs Taeju's left hand and forcefully spreads the fingers apart. The guards watch silently as Mujin positions the pliers over Taeju's pinky.
A single squeeze…
SNAP
The first joint of his finger breaks with a sickening crack—but Mujin doesn't stop there. His body convulsed again, but he forced his hand to remain still because it obeyed instinctively, even though he was on the verge of death—teetering at the very edge.
Mujin admires Taeju's twisted obedience—the way his trembling body fights to stay still despite the excruciating pain. It amuses him, in a dark way.
"Good boy," he mocks quietly before moving the pliers to Taeju's ring finger.
SNAP
Another bone breaks—this time with slightly less resistance, as if Taeju's body is already too numb from agony to fully register it anymore. A thin trail of blood trickles from his crushed fingers.
The guards exchange glances—even they're disturbed by how far Mujin is taking this... but no one dares intervene.
Mujin continues his methodical torture – breaking each finger one by one, working his way up to Taeju’s thumb. Every snap is precise, calculated… and excruciating.
By the time reaches Taeju’s middle finger, the man isn’t even making sounds anymore. Just shallow, uneven breaths – teeth clenched so hard they might shatter. Tears have dried on his cheeks from sheer exhaustion.
Mujin pauses briefly… then picks up a small knife from the table instead of another tool.
A new kind of pain awaits.
Without warning, Mujin grabbed a fistful of Taeju's hair and tilted his head back brutally, grazing a razor-sharp knife against his throat—not cutting yet, but dangerously close. The cold blade presses just against Taeju’s throat – not enough to cut, but the slightest wrong move would send a blood gushing.
Mujin holds it there, his dark eyes locked onto Taeju’s terrified ones. “You’ve disappointed me,” he says quietly – the most dangerous tone of all.
Slowly… painfully slowly… he begins dragging the knife downward – leaving behind a thin red line as skin parts ever slightly. Not deep enough to kill… yet.
A warning slice across the collarbone follows next.
The knife keeps moving – Mujin carve shallow, precise lines across Taeju’s chest and shoulders. Not fatal wounds… but each one stings like hell, a constant reminder of his anger.
Blood starts to well up in thin trails where the blade nicks skin. Mujin works with chilling focus – almost artistic in his cruelty. A particular harsh press of the knife opens a slightly deeper cut near Taeju’s shoulder – the first one that actually bleeds more than just surface level.
He tilts his head as he admires it… the raises the knife again for another strike. Mujin brings the knife down harder this time – aiming for Taeju’s right pectoral muscle. The blade sinks in about half an inch, drawing a sharp gasp of pain from Taeju despite his exhaustion.
Blood wells up instantly around the wound. Mujin twists the knife slightly – not to stab deeper, but to make sure Taeju feels it.
“Still awake?” he murmurs with mocking concern as he finally pulls the blade out… only to raise it again immediately for another slash across Taeju’s ribs.
The new slash across Taeju's ribs is even more vicious—Mujin isn't holding back anymore. The knife bites deep enough to leave a visible gash, skin parting like paper under the sharp edge.
Blood starts soaking through Taeju's shirt as he struggles to breathe properly through the pain. Every inhale makes his wounds sting worse.
Mujin steps back briefly—observing his handiwork with cold satisfaction before suddenly grabbing a handful of disinfectant from the table... and pouring it directly onto Taeju's open wounds.
Burn.
The disinfectant hits like fire — stinging a thousand times worse than the knife cuts themselves. Taeju's entire body jerks against the restraints, his scream raw and guttural this time.
Mujin doesn't flinch as he watches the antiseptic mix with blood and soak into torn skin. The pain is searing, unforgiving—a punishment within punishment.
He tilts his head, watching tears of agony pour down Taeju's face before suddenly grabbing another bottle... this one filled with something stronger: pure rubbing alcohol.
His consciousness slowly faded from the relentless torture. Mujin didn't stop; he didn't care.
Mujin doesn't stop—not when Taeju's eyes flutter, not when his body goes limp from pain shock. The alcohol bottle tips over, drenching the wounds completely.
Aggravated burn.
Taeju's unconscious form *twitches violently*, muscles spasming as if his nerves are screaming even in blackout. His lips part in a silent gasp—no sound comes out anymore.
The guards shift uncomfortably. This is beyond interrogation now... this is just brutality for its own sake.
But Mujin? He pours more alcohol—methodically soaking every injury he created.
Mujin sets the empty alcohol bottle down with a dull clink. He watches Taeju's unconscious face—pale, sweaty, completely wrecked. For a long moment... silence.
Then he turns to one of the guards and jerks his chin toward a rusted metal pipe in the corner.
The guard hesitates for half a second before obeying—grabbing it and handing it over.
Mujin picks up the heavy weapon... then raises it high above his head.
No hesitation.
THUD.
The pipe crashes down onto Taeju's unconscious body—right across his ribs. The impact is brutal enough to make the metal chair beneath him shake violently.
Even in blackout, Taeju's limp form reacts—his chest jerking from the force of the blow. A sickening crack might have been heard... or maybe it was just bone bruising under pressure.
Mujin doesn't stop there.
THUD.
A second strike lands on Taeju’s shoulder—harder this time, fueled by pure rage.
The third strike comes even harder — Mujin is swinging with full force now, treating Taeju's motionless body like a punching bag. The pipe connects with his stomach this time—
CRUNCH.
A sickening sound echoes through the room. Whether it's internal damage or just the chair breaking slightly under impact, no one knows... but blood trickles from Taeju’s mouth even while unconscious.
Mujin isn't winded at all. He raises the pipe again... and again... each hit more vicious than the last.
Mujin's relentless beating continues — each swing of the pipe landing with brutal precision. Taeju’s body is being pounded mercilessly, every strike potentially causing more damage.
Blood smears across the floor from where his face lolls to the side after a particularly vicious hit to his jaw. His lips are split, his nose might be broken... but he still isn’t waking up.
The guards look away—this isn't punishment anymore. This is just destruction.
And Mujin? He keeps swinging.
Mujin didn't stop until Taeju was truly dead.
The pipe clatters to the ground. Mujin stands there, breathing steadily—not a single drop of sweat on him. His expression is blank... almost bored now that the rage has burned out.
He stares down at Taeju's lifeless body—battered beyond recognition, covered in blood and bruises from head to toe. The once-loyal follower is just a broken shell now.
A long silence fills the chamber.
Finally, Mujin turns to one of his guards and speaks calmly:
"Clean this up."
No remorse, no regret.
Just final.
