Chapter Text
New Orleans was beautiful.
Henrietta Euphemia Potter had decided that approximately five minutes after arriving.
The city was vibrant, loud, alive with music and magic she couldn't quite identify. Every street seemed to hold a story. Every building felt ancient and loved.
Most importantly, however—
The treacle tart from the bakeries were excellent.
Henrietta— or Harry was inside a small bookshop in the French Quarter, going through books to take as souvenir for hermione, while happily eating a slice of treacle tart she'd charmed into staying warm.
Life was good.
For the first time since the war, she was on a vacation.
No Death Eaters.
No prophecies.
No Ministry officials trying to interview her.
Just rainbows and sunshines.
God ! This is perfect ! Harry giggled to herself.
What harry was unaware of was that somewhere closeby Hayley marshall was giving up on her motherhood.
Hayley Marshall had made several questionable decisions in her life.
Sleeping with Klaus Mikaelson.
Becoming pregnant with Klaus Mikaelson's child.
Running away from Klaus Mikaelson while pregnant with Klaus Mikaelson's child.
All of those had seemed like excellent ideas at the time.
This one, however?
This one was objectively terrible.
Terrified was an under statement to what hayley was feeling now. From the day she got pregnant by that hybrids child everyone came after her —witches, werewolves, vampires and what not. She is a strong fighter she does not give up that easily but now she was just tired. Tired of being chased. And now she was giving up on her child.
"You sure you know what you're doing?" Hayley asked not for the fifth
"I've studied the spell."
Hayley stared.
"That wasn't an answer."
"It should work" The witch winced.
"Should?"
"Mostly."
Hayley closed her eyes for a moment to clam her nerves.
Chrissy was a reckless young witch. Almost immature but she was the only one that has agreed to help her transfer her baby into some human girl she had selected. Of course, It was only out of pity for her.
"I've never attempted anything this powerful before." Chrissy shrugged. "So, I can't say, I am one hundred percent sure."
That was not reassuring.
Hayley pressed a hand against her stomach.
The baby kicked.
Guilt twisted inside her.
She hated herself.
She truly did.
But she couldn't do this.
She couldn't carry Klaus Mikaelson's child while every supernatural creature in existence hunted them.
She wanted her life back.
The witch began chanting.
Candles flared.
Magic flooded the room.
Ancient symbols glowed across the wooden floor.
The spell was simple in theory.
Transfer the unborn child into another host.
A human girl chosen beforehand.
No one would know.
No one would find the baby.
Everyone would be safe.
She gasped as the magic reached for the infant in her womb, wrapped around it and pulled.
Every candle exploded.
The witch screamed in pain.
The pressure inside Hayley vanished.
Completely gone.
The baby was no longer there.
Hayley glanced at the unconscious blonde human girl they had kindnapped and used her heightened senses to hear the heartbeat of her child and gasped when she could hear only one.
"Is the girl dead? I hear only one heartbeat !"
Chrissy walked over to the girl and checked her pulse. "Alive."
"Then why do I hear only one heartbeat !" Hayley demanded loudly.
The witch stared.
Hayley stared.
"What happened?" Hayley asked, it came out almost like a whisper.
The witch looked horrified.
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?" She growled.
"I really don't know! I did as it was instructed !"
Every trace of the child disappeared.
As though she had never existed.
....
It had been a few hours since Hayley had disappeared. Klaus and Elijah were searching every crook and cranny of the city and finally reached an abandoned house that practically ozzed magic.
"Do you think she is here?" Elijah asked.
"Well, There's one way to find out brother." Klaus said, totally sure that hayley was behind the doors from the smell of a distinct musk of a wolf.
Hayley did know how to face klaus now. She paced around the room planning how to escape from klaus' wrath.
The front door exploded inward.
Oh no.
Klaus entered first, murder in his eyes.Elijah followed close behind.
Both froze.
Hayley no longer held two heartbeats.
The baby—
The baby was gone.
Tears started to roll out of her eyes. Not from the loss of her child but from the fear of it’s father’s wrath.
The witch went pale at the sight of the two original vampires.
Klaus looked at Hayley.
"What." His voice was soft. Which was infinitely worse than shouting. "What have you done?"
Hayley broke, spilled everything out of fear.
The spell.
The transfer.
The plan.
The desperation.
The fear.
By the time she finished, Klaus looked ready to tear the city apart. He looked at the witch. The witch backed away.
"I didn't mean—"
Klaus moved. Snap. The witch collapsed lifelessly onto the floor.
Elijah didn't stop him. He was not going to
—Not when a child was involved.
—Not when that child was family.
Klaus turned towards Hayley. "You lost my daughter."
Hayley stumbled backward.
"Klaus—"
"You gave away my child."
"Klaus."
"You endangered her."
"Klaus!" Elijah stepped between them.
The room shook.
Both brothers glared at one another.
"Move."
"No."
"Move, Elijah."
"No."
"If you kill her now, we lose our only connection to the child."
Klaus's jaw clenched. "You expect me to spare her?"
"I expect you to find your daughter."
That struck home. Because beneath the rage— Klaus was terrified.
For the first time since learning of the baby's existence, he had no idea where she was —No idea, if she was alive, if she was safe.
Across the city, Henrietta bought three books to the counter, humming happily.
The cashier smiled. "Vacation? You look happy."
"Yeah ! It's my first vacation after escaping from a maniac after all."
"Toxic boyfriend ?"
"Sort of." Harry smirked taking the books and walked out of the shop. It has been three days since she threw an absence letter onto Kingsley's face, packed her bags and ran away from britain. No what matter how much Hermione nagged her she was not going to regret this vacation —
That was when she felt it.— foreign magic. Foreign magic that flooded into her womb like she was pregnant.
Pregnant ? She ? No, no, no. Harry shook her head in disbelief, slightly amused at her own train of thoughts.
Then the baby kicked lightly.
Harry almost jumped "What the fuck?" She gaped at her stomach.
—Guess she said that too soon.
The baby kicked again.
"Fuckkk!"
