Work Text:
It was a regular day at work. All the members were rehearsing choreos for their upcoming shows. Exhausted, sweaty, and irritable after such a long practice session. Nevertheless, they knew it was worth it, as they were close to the mini-holiday they agreed to take once their shows at the end of January were over.
In the meantime, since all they did was practise, not much content could be recorded for their fans. So, they had to somehow think of ways to fill in those days with content for their YouTube channel. Kihyun was the first to suggest an idea, which was supported by the staff: they would bring back an old video series they used to record, “Chef Kihyun’s cook cook”. Variety content like this was always appreciated by the fans, especially if it meant getting to see their favourite duos.
As it had been a while since the last episode was released (probably a few years, even), it was decided that it would be nice to start it up once again.
Kihyun pondered for a couple of days before deciding who would be the first to make an appearance with him. He put all the members through a trial to see who would end up being his sous-chef. Fortunately, this decision did not take too much time to be made. After a couple of days, and talking about it with all of them, Kihyun decided that he would record with Hyungwon.
It seemed like the most sensible decision, and it was approved by the staff too. Everyone was aware. They knew that the Kihyun and Hyungwon pair had become increasingly popular in the past few months, so it was supported by everyone, and a date was set.
The next day, Kihyun brought the news to Hyungwon during a small break they took while they were practising.
“So, will you record this with me?” Kihyun asked while grabbing two water bottles, one for himself, and one for Hyungwon.
“I mean, I guess I have no other choice. I was the chosen one,” Hyungwon replied and grabbed the bottle from Kihyun’s hand.
“Awesome. I’ll see you tomorrow, then. I’ve already decided what we are making,” Kihyun gave him a smile and sat next to him on the floor.
“I don’t even get to make any input on what we will make? Wow, you’re a great chef, you don’t even care about your lower-chef’s opinion,” Hyungwon teased and rested his back against the glass wall of the practice room.
“Excuse me, that’s called a sous-chef. And, of course, as the chef, I get to make all the decisions,” Kihyun drank almost the whole water in one go and looked at Minhyuk and Joohoney, who were laying on the floor. “Hey, you two! Don’t fall asleep yet. We still have 3 more songs to practise,” as expected, all he got back were some annoyed grunts.
Kihyun laughed at their reactions and stood up, stretching his arms and neck. Then turned to look at Hyungwon, who was laughing at the other two trying to burrow themselves on the floor. “That applies to you too, you know?”
Hyungwon turned to look at him and also grunted, less annoyed than Minhyuk and Joohoney, but equally as tired. “Help me get up, please?” He said, as he extended both of his hands towards the ginger.
“I think you can perfectly get up on your own, but okay,” Kihyun sighed, and grabbed both of his hands tight and pulled them, helping him stand up, “we should be done soon, right? We only need to practise a few steps, let’s go,” Kihyun announced, watching the rest stand up as well, and finish the remaining water in their bottles.
“No, that’s not it. You’re still doing it wrong,” Kihyun remarked, feeling a little annoyed at that point. They had been practising for way too long, they felt it on their bodies. Yet, in Kihyun’s eyes, there was still time and room for improvement.
“Listen, Kihyun, I’m exhausted. Everything else is good! We can practise this tomorrow, I need to rest,” Minhyuk replied, dropping himself on the floor once again. His feet felt like they had fused with his footwear after standing and dancing for so long.
“No. I need you to understand why you’re getting the choreo wrong first, and show me that you can improve. Only then I will be convinced you can make it by tomorrow,” all of them were completely out of energy at this point, but Kihyun wouldn’t let this slide.
“I think we have had enough for today. We can start earlier tomorrow, and take care of this headfirst,” Shownu commented trying to ease the situation. He was also holding a mini-fan blowing air at himself while taking huge gulps out of his third water bottle.
“I second that. I don’t think there’s any more liquid left in my body to sweat. I can’t go on anymore,” Joohoney added, lying down next to Hyungwon.
“Then all of you, go. Leave Minhyuk and I alone, go rest,” Kihyun did not intend for that to sound too harsh, but it did.
“Kihyun,” Hyungwon stood up and approached him. “That’s enough. Let’s all rest for today, okay? We don’t need to start fights. And we all deserve a rest,” he grabbed his hand and caressed it in an attempt to calm him down. Warmth.
Kihyun sighed and shrugged. He didn’t realise how tense he was feeling until then.
“Fine,” as he said that, Hyungwon let go of his hand. “But I hope you all arrive early tomorrow, or I will make the late fee ten times more expensive,” he warned, and they all knew he was being serious.
He turned towards Minhyuk and put his hand on his shoulder. “Hey, sorry Min. I hope you can all rest well tonight,” Shownu had already brought back everyone’s clothes, footwear and bags so they could change and go back home.
“It’s okay, I get it. You want everything to be perfect, but remember that we are human beings too. We will do our best, and it will turn out amazing,” Minhyuk offered him a smile, and a pat on the back which Kihyun returned. “I promise I will arrive first tomorrow morning, I will beat even you,” he said with a playful smirk.
“We’ll see about that,” Kihyun replied, already taking off his shoes and putting on the pair brought by Shownu. Finally his feet could breathe a little. “We are starting a little later tomorrow since Hyungwon and I have something to record together first. I hope to see you all on time, still.” he announced, picking up his belongings, ready to leave.
“Sounds good to me. A little more rest is just what I need” Joohoney replied, helping Changkyun stand up.
“Have a good night everyone, thanks for your efforts today. And… I’m sorry,” Kihyun apologised earnestly. He did feel ashamed for talking the way he did to all of them, even if it wasn’t intentional.
“It’s okay, we understand,” Changkyun said, joining the conversation while yawning. “We will get through this, and we will do it together. Rest well everyone,” after this, everyone left the practice room to get to their own rooms.
But before that, Hyungwon stopped Kihyun in the halls.
“Hey. So, tomorrow early morning, huh? Will you tell me what we are making? I need to prepare myself mentally,” And maybe read a couple of cooking webpages too for that matter, Hyungwon thought to himself.
“Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to tell you. It’s Dubai chocolate chewy cookies. They’re pretty popular right now. Staff got a recipe, and they will have all the ingredients ready by tomorrow morning,” Kihyun replied, checking the time. It was almost his sleeping time already… since when does time go by so fast?
“Oh, cool. I’ve had those before, I like them. That will be interesting to make. Well then, see you tomorrow, Kihyun, have a good night,” Hyungwon smiled at him and went to the van that was already waiting for him outside.
Kihyun waved goodbye and got in another van as well, almost falling asleep on the way home.
The next morning, Kihyun woke up as early as usual. He quickly got ready for the schedule and wondered if he had made the right choice by picking Hyungwon.
It was not because of Hyungwon’s questionable cooking skills… well, maybe, yes, partially. However, he also missed spending time with him. Sure, they have had schedules together throughout the year, but one more never hurt anyone.
They had lots of fun together, even if they usually argued or fought over minimal things, but it was an important part of their relationship. Hmph, maybe I am starting to like him more… Kihyun got lost in thought for a moment. He did miss him a lot during their enlistment periods, but good thing that was over now. He thought about inviting him to go somewhere soon, it had been a while since their last hangout where it was only the two of them.
On Hyungwon’s side, surprisingly, he woke up with no hesitation at all. He was genuinely taken aback by the fact that Kihyun had chosen him over the rest of the members for this special schedule. Special… you’re just cooking. Get it together. Still… spending time together with Kihyun was always special for him. Hyungwon appreciates Kihyun a lot, he always has. Their bickering made him realise that, despite everything, he still deeply adored and appreciated him. He truly missed having a presence like his while he was away. And he was more than excited to see what the future had prepared for them. He grabbed his phone and quickly checked on some cooking website recipes again for the last time before getting up from bed. He got dressed and ready to leave fast, shortly after, the driver picked him up and took him to the recording site.
Kihyun had arrived at the place first, and immediately started talking to some of the staff that was already there. Thanking them for being up so early, and working so hard. Hyungwon arrived quietly after, also thanking everyone for their hard work in the early morning. Then, his eyes were set on Kihyun, who was happily greeting everyone with his usual, big smile.
Seems like the sun is finally rising… A smile made its way up to Hyungwon’s face, and he approached him. “Good morning, Kihyun,” he said, calling his attention.
Kihyun turned around and greeted him too. “Hey. Do you like this coat I got?” the smaller wasted no time and immediately showed off his button up white chef coat, with the inscription “KIHYUN” on it.
“That’s awesome. Looks good on you,” Hyungwon said, smiling. He slowly checked every detail. Starting from the black buttons, Kihyun’s name written on the chest area, to the sleeves that looked just a bit too big for Kihyun. Cute.
Kihyun wondered how Hyungwon could be so smiley and in a good mood, given how early it was.
“Thanks. Come with me, I’ll show you around the set and everything. These are our ingredients for today, and don’t worry, I will be guiding you, and we will be reviewing the steps often, too,” Kihyun gestured with his hand and took Hyungwon closer to the counter where all the ingredients were spread.
Hyungwon smiled and looked around at everything they had to use. “These will turn out great, I’m so sure of it,” good thing Kihyun would be guiding him, he had tried those cookies before, but never made them from scratch.
Once they had read the recipe and checked that they had all the ingredients, they got to work. It went… surprisingly well. Kihyun’s instructions helped them both get through this quickly and smoothly. The few steps they had trouble with were resolved quickly. Still, the biggest problem came when they had to roll the cookie paste into balls to freeze.
“This is sticking everywhere. How do we even do this?” Kihyun said, huffing after he couldn’t unstick pieces of the chocolate from his gloves. He opted to take them off and use a new pair, but nothing changed.
“Huh, they aren’t sticking to my hands at all,” Hyungwon kept easily rolling the balls and putting them on a plate aside. “Not even a new pair of gloves fixed it?” he asked, looking at Kihyun who seemed to be slowly getting annoyed.
“I think it might be because my hands got too hot. It won’t come off my fingers. Do you usually have cold hands and feet?” Kihyun asked, still trying to get as much of the mixture off his gloves, with slower movements.
What an oddly specific question. “Yeah, definitely cold. And uh… I think it’s sticking too much on my hands too now…” Hyungwon looked at his own hands as he pushed one more ball off his hands. “I’m done. what if we just leave this one as a big piece? I’m making a turtle,” he added, as he grabbed the remaining paste and started molding it into shape.
“A turtle?” Kihyun chuckled, “Sure, whatever you want to do. Just make sure it isn’t too big or it won’t freeze properly,” Kihyun wasn’t looking at whatever Hyungwon was doing, but the idea of him making a turtle shaped Dubai chocolate chewy cookie (what a mouthful) was cute, so he let him be.
Once they had put everything in the freezer, they started washing, cleaning and rearranging the kitchen. Kihyun took care of the counters, while Hyungwon was washing some dishes, which Kihyun was surprised to see.
“I didn’t know you were this clean in a kitchen setting,” Kihyun commented, watching Hyungwon wash the plates, measuring cups and spoons they used.
“Well, you can’t ignore cleanliness when it comes to kitchens. Especially if you’re cooking or making something,” Hyungwon replied, as he kept his eyes fixed in the sink.
After washing everything up and drying it with a dish cloth, they waited for a little longer before trying out the cookies they had made.
“So your hands are usually cold, huh? Let me see,” Kihyun said and grabbed one of Hyungwon’s hands in a quick motion, then letting it go. “Wow, they really are cold. Did you just use cold water?” he asked, laying against the counter.
“I didn’t, it was warm water. My hands and feet tend to stay a little cold,” Hyungwon replied, secretly craving to touch Kihyun’s hands again, the slight warmth he felt when Kihyun grabbed his hands felt nice. Dear God, what am I even thinking?
“That’s interesting. Maybe that’s why it was easier for you to grab and manipulate the cookies before. Do you think we can try them now?” Kihyun straightened his posture, then squatted to open the small fridge that was below the counter.
“Maybe, take them out and let’s see,” Hyungwon turned off the tap and approached him, waiting for Kihyun to take the plates out of the freezer.
Kihyun set both plates, the one with the cookies and the one with Hyungwon’s weird turtle shaped cookie, on the counter. Hyungwon was the first to unwrap the wrapping paper they had put around them and grabbed one cookie to check it.
“They look so good, almost as if they were bought in a store,” Kihyun also grabbed one of the cookies and squished it to check its consistency, in case they needed more time in the freezer.
“We did a good job, didn’t we? I already want to try them,” Hyungwon couldn’t lie, he could feel his mouth watering at the sight, they looked pretty tasty.
“Taste test time then!” Kihyun happily announced, “Here, you try it first,” he offered it to Hyungwon, holding it with both hands close to the other’s mouth.
Hyungwon was a little hesitant. Since these were homemade, he didn’t quite know if they would be good, even if they followed the recipe step by step. “Uhm, are you sure these are ready? Don’t you want to try it first?”
“Oh, c’mon. I’m sure these are good. Just try it!” Kihyun insisted.
Hyungwon grabbed the cookie with both hands and gave it a small bite, or that was what he attempted… because the cookie paste became extremely stretchy. They were chewy cookies, after all. He attempted to bite it in a way that would stop it from stretching so that Kihyun could eat the other remaining part and try it for himself. After a few minutes of chewing, he finally gave his verdict.
“Oh, that’s good. Really good, actually. I could say it’s even better than the store ones!” Hyungwon kept savouring the cookie in his mouth while fighting it as it kept stretching.
“Is it? Let me try,” Kihyun took the remaining part of the cookie Hyungwon had left behind and tried it for himself. It was just as good as Hyungwon made it sound. He opened his eyes wider as he nodded, then he kept chewing it happily. “That is really good,” he added, covering his mouth with his hand. “I think we should start taking orders for these. We could get rich,” both of them laughed at his comment. But what about Hyungwon’s turtle?
They both went back to the counter where the second plate was put. It did look like the turtle was ready to be eaten too, but that was too big, even for the two of them. And none of them wanted to ruin the shape. Hyungwon grabbed the plate and made sure to show it off to the camera.
“How many times a year do you see a Dubai chocolate chewy cookie in the shape of a turtle?” Hyungwon showed it close to the camera, earning a few wheezes for the staff. “This might be… too much… we might offer it to the staff,” he joked while looking at the people helping them record and snorted when someone in the back screamed that they would happily keep that cookie for themselves. Then, he went back to Kihyun.
“Do you think the guys would believe us if we told them that these are store-bought, and not homemade by us?” Hyungwon wondered if they could prank the others.
No one knew what they were doing today, since Kihyun only mentioned that the two of them would “record something together”.
“You know what? I’m definitely up for that. Shape-wise they don’t look like they belong in a store, though…” Kihyun inspected some more cookie shapes and also noted an inconsistency in the sizes and shapes they all had.
“Eh, I think we can make it work,” Hyungwon looked inside one of the bags they hadn’t opened before and found exaxtly what they needed, “We’ve got these,” he pointed out some boxes the staff had brought for them to put the cookies in. “These are perfect!”
“Okay, now that’s useful. Whose idea was it to buy these?” Kihyun gave the staff a judging look, making Hyungwon laugh.
After that, Kihyun and Hyungwon continued cleaning the kitchen, then went on to opening the boxes and putting each cookie inside.
Once recording was over, both made sure to thank everyone again for their time, picked up their things and got ready to meet the rest for today’s practice.
“We still have some time, think we can make it to the store to get more of these and maybe drinks too?” Hyungwon asked, looking at the time on his phone.
“I think so, let’s do it quickly,” Kihyun replied, and Hyungwon thought he noticed a slight change of tone in his voice, but didn’t say anything about it.
They both got out of the building and went to the store to buy the cookies and some more snacks for later. In Hyungwon’s eyes, Kihyun seemed to be a bit distracted, which was unusual for him. Especially after doing so well together during the recording. Still, he decided to wait before asking him.
Once they got what they needed, they went back into the building and headed to the practice room where they met everyone but Changkyun.
“Good morning!” Joohoney said with his usual enthusiasm.
“Morning. We have prepared something special for you guys today,” Kihyun announced, while showing the bags he was carrying. “But you will only learn what it is after we finish, so let’s go.”
“Told you we would be here in time, eh?” Minhyuk lightly hit Kihyun’s shoulder, and was following everyone inside the room, but before he could, Kihyun called him. “What is it?”
“Minyuk, I wanted to apologise for what happened yesterday…” Kihyun sighed and looked away for a moment. “I shouldn’t have talked to you like that, I’m sorry,” he said sincerely.
“Hey, hey. It’s alright. I know you were trying to figure out what we were doing wrong, and I get the short temper of the moment, we were exhausted,” Minhyuk reassured him and put his hand on Kihyun’s shoulder.
“No. It’s not alright. I did not even have a reason to snap at you,” Kihyun lowered his head for a moment, “Actually, I think the reason why we kept bumping into each other while dancing was because of me getting the choreo wrong.”
“Yeah, I knew that.”
“What?” Kihyun asked and looked at him in disbelief.
“I knew you were the one getting it wrong all along, Kihyun. You always do this,” he teased him gripping his shoulder tightly for a moment. “But I was not in the mood to argue, and I didn’t want it to get worse. That’s why I didn’t argue back.”
Kihyun stayed silent for a moment. Then, he let out a chuckle. “The things I make you put up with, huh?” Both of them laughed and the tension faded away quickly. “I promise I’ll pay more attention next time,” he said and gave him a smile.
“I know you will. Now, let’s get going. We have already wasted way too much time here just talking,” Minhyuk teased him and grabbed his hand to take him inside.
“Yes, let’s,” Kihyun let himself be taken to the practice room, happy that they could talk it out. Interesting. His hand is also kind of cold. But it didn’t feel like touching Hyungwon’s? Kihyun shook his head lightly. What am I even thinking about? It’s like 5 degrees outside… of course his hand will be cold. Yet…
“Hello? Earth to Kihyun?” Minhyuk said looking at Kihyun’s eyes, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Are you okay? I feel like I’m talking to a wall here.”
“Yeah, yeah, sorry,” Kihyun said quickly, “Let’s get going”.
Practice went smoothly this time, they could rehearse all of the songs they were performing soon with no mistakes whatsoever. Everyone was glad to know they could finish early this time.
Just as they were getting ready to leave, the staff brought some cameras and told the members to get ready for a quick recording. That’s when Kihyun and Hyungwon told them more about this surprise they had for them.
“What is it?” Minhyuk asked curiously.
“Hyungwon and I made some Dubai chewy chocolate cookies for you to try, but there is a catch,” Kihyun started, as they were brought two bags, “Some of these, we bought in a store, others, we made ourselves. Do you think you can tell which is which?”
“Oh, so that’s what you recorded together. I want to try them!” Joohoney said, curiously looking at the bags. A snack sounded really nice right now.
“I think I can tell which is which,” Shownu said confidently.
Hyungwon grabbed one of the bags from Kihyun’s hand and checked what was inside before handing them the cookies they had made and packed neatly. He gave one to each of them. “These are the store ones.”
“These are from a store? I’ve never seen them have this… weird shape,” Minhyuk inspected the package before opening to try it. Oblivious to the fact that he was actually on the right track.
Hyungwon had to contain his laugh, “They are. Try those first, then the one Kihyun will give you. We want honest opinions, got it?”
While everyone ate the cookies Kihyun and Hyungwon had made, Kihyun took out another 3 more boxes and set them on a table.
“Okay, not gonna lie, these are really good,” Shownu said happily whilst he grabbed one of the packages set on the table, “So these are the ones you made?” He said, tearing it open.
Minhyuk and Joohoney waited until they could try the other cookies before saying anything. Kihyun gave Hyungwon a look once he noticed him trying his best to hold back his laugh.
“Honestly, the store ones are sweeter, I like them more,” Minhyuk said while still chewing.
“I like the ones you guys made more,” Joohoney said, holding the real store bought cookies.
“Oh so you hate our cooking, huh?” Hyungwon said, shocking everyone in the room.
“Wait, what?” Minhyuk asked, clearly confused.
“We got you!” Kihyun started laughing while pointing at Minhyuk.
“Huh?” Minhyuk stopped chewing and quickly grabbed another piece of the homemade cookies, “These are made by you two? Well, they are really good.”
Hyungwon held his hand up and Kihyun high-fived him. Something that was meant to be a simple interaction. A small, celebratory gesture between them. But the touch lingered in their minds, especially Hyungwon’s, as he caressed Kihyun’s hand for a bit while squeezing it, before letting go.
Of course, Kihyun noticed. He allowed it to happen, and his smile lasted a little longer thanks to it.
“You two really got us, huh? That was fun,” Shownu finally spoke again, grabbing some more cookies to try.
Kihyun and Hyungwon went on and grabbed some cookies to eat too. That’s when Kihyun remembered Hyungwon’s turtle.
“He also made a… monster turtle thing,” Kihyun laughed at his own words, remembering the image of the cookie turtle.
“Hey! Staff said it’s really good too. They have tried it already. This was a huge success, I think we should start selling these,” Hyungwon replied jokingly, making everyone in the room laugh.
After they finished their meal and drank some coffee, they wrapped up and got ready to get back home.
Hyungwon was looking for Kihyun. He wanted to have a word with him about this different mood in his usual self he had noticed. He found him taking some pictures at the practice room, probably to send to the fans later.
“Hey,” Hyungwon slowly approached him, making Kihyun jump a little.
“Ah, come here! Let’s take a picture together,” Kihyun said moving to the side so they would both fit in the square mirror wall.
Hyungwon found it strange that he wanted a picture of just them, instead of everyone, but brushed it off and stood next to him. They took a few pictures together, with different poses, until they were both satisfied with them.
“Thanks for today, that was fun,” Kihyun said, looking through the pictures again.
“Thanks to you, for choosing me as your…” Kihyun raised his eyes from his phone and stared at him, “Sous-chef. I haven’t forgotten,” Hyungwon finished, teasing him.
“Sorry, I get ahead of myself sometimes,” Kihyun put his phone in his pocket and picked up his bag from the floor.
“Don’t be too harsh on yourself, okay?” Hyungwon said patting his shoulder lightly, “Everything will go well. And we will do this together,” Hyungwon looked down at Kihyun’s hand and felt his own one itch to grab it. Kihyun was not unaware of it, as they were still standing in front of the mirror.
“Thanks Hyungwon,” He turned around, facing him, “You’re always there for me when I need it, and I appreciate that,” he gave him a sincere smile.
Hyungwon felt awkward for a moment. It was rare that Kihyun was this nice to him. He simply returned the smile, and spoke, “Shall we go? I think the vans are waiting for us outside already.”
“Yeah, let’s.”
Both of them left the practice room and exited the building quickly. It seemed like their vans were not there quit yet, so Hyungwon took the chance to talk again.
“Are you doing okay?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Nothing. Just wanted to make sure,” Hyungwon decided to not pry it and let Kihyun speak, only if he wanted.
Kihyun sighed, “I think I should take things more lightly.”
“Well, you do tend to push yourself too much sometimes,” Hyungwon turned to look at him.
“I know. I don’t like knowing that that ends up hurting other people.”
“Hey,” Hyungwon took his hand, “Don’t think about it too much. We are in this together. And we understand. It’s something you are keeping in mind, too. You just need to work on it. You will figure it out,” Hyungwon finished, caressing his knuckles.
Kihyun looked at their hands. Warmth. Again. Finally, a small smile made it’s way to Kihyun’s face, “Thanks, Hyungwon.”
Actually, he wanted to say something else, but before he could, both vans arrived and the drivers rushed them to get in. Hyungwon waved and said goodbye, immediately getting in, then the van left the place.
Kihyun stood there alone for a bit longer before getting in the other van. Once inside, he unlocked his phone and opened his gallery once again. He went through the pictures him and Hyungwon had taken together and smiled. Hyungwon making silly faces, Hyungwon copying whatever pose he was doing, because he didn’t know what else to do. Hyungwon.
Hyungwon.
Kihyun looked at his hand again, remembering what he had felt each time Hyungwon touched his hand that day. Warmth. Did that even mean anything?
A few days later, after another dance practice, this feeling, the warmth, came up again.
Minhyuk and Shownu agreed to go buy some snacks and drinks whilst Joohoney went somewhere else, leaving Kihyun and Hyungwon alone in the practice room.
“Oh, I’m so exhausted,” Hyungwon sighed, letting his whole body weight be carried by the wall behind him.
“Today was really intense,” Kihyun added.
They were sitting next to one another, with the only thing keeping a distance between them being an unopened water bottle. It was originally Kihyun’s, as Hyungwon’s was next to him. Yet, he forgot about that. In a quick motion, both tried to grab it, resulting in Kihyun’s hand grabbing Hyungwon’s, which was grabbing the plastic.
Kihyun noticed immediately and stared at their hands for a moment. Even despite all the heat they had gone through dancing, Hyungwon’s hand felt cold, but also, warm. It seemed like he couldn’t take his hand off his.
Hyungwon felt the warmth of Kihyun’s palm and silently begged for him to not take it off, but he knew this was an accident.
“Oh, sorry. I forgot my bottle was next to me,” Hyungwon let go of the bottle and used his other hand to grab the correct one.
“It’s alright. But, are you okay? Your hands are too cold for someone who just sat down from moving that much.”
Hyungwon thought for a moment, “I do feel kind of cold now that we sat down. And, well, I did tell you my hands tend to stay on the colder side,” Hyungwon shrugged.
“That’s interesting,” Kihyun finally grabbed the bottle and rested his back against the wall. His hand itched to grab Hyungwon’s again, that coldness felt… nice?
As if he was reading Kihyun’s mind, Hyungwon slowly grabbed the other’s hand and held it tight.
“Is it okay if I use your hand as a hand warmer?” Hyungwon asked with a smile.
Kihyun felt his pulse become faster, “Well, you are already doing it. Feel free to,” He returned the smile.
And their hands stayed locked together. Each of them basking on the warm feeling the other was providing. Hyungwon couldn’t resist and caressed Kihyun’s hand. So soft. Kihyun let it happen, because he, too, was enjoying it.
Hyungwon shifted closer to him, which startled Kihyun a little. Their shoulders were touching now, but, yet, he didn’t mind the contact. It felt warm, warmer than before even. He let himself enjoy it, and enjoy Hyungwon’s company in silence.
