𖹭.ᐟ Chapter One: The Summer That Changed My Life.
The European summer always had its own distinct scent in Monaco. It wasn’t just the intense heat radiating off the ancient stone buildings or the fragrance of the flowers in the gardens, but a palpable sense of stillness hanging in the air. Formula 1 had finally hit the summer break, and Lando Norris could feel it in every inch of his modern apartment, which overlooked the harbor where luxury yachts swayed gently on the turquoise water.
He sat on the couch, eyes locked on the open laptop on the coffee table, as sunlight streamed through the massive glass windows, painting golden lines across the rug. His coffee was still steaming in the mug beside him, but his attention was completely consumed by a new notification that had just popped up: an email from Monster Energy.
"Streamer collab shoot – summer break," the subject line read. Lando opened it with a mix of curiosity and anticipation. Dates, times, and creative concepts were meticulously listed, including brief commercials and short-form videos for YouTube. His heart did a little flutter—he loved whenever he could step away from the grueling routine of the track to dive into different projects. Creating digital content always felt like a fun escape, almost like being a kid again, racing simulators with zero pressure.
Meanwhile, the city was beginning to wake up. A sea breeze gently tugged at the curtains, and the distant hum of boats in the harbor mingled with the awakening streets. Lando took a deep breath, feeling the sheer relief of the hiatus. For the next few days, he didn't have to stress about championship points or race strategies. For now, the world existed entirely right here, in this apartment, bathed in this summer light, with this unexpected opportunity to film something different.
On the other side of town, in an apartment not too far away, Oscar Piastri was already up and sorting out the final details on his phone's calendar. He’d known about the collab for weeks, but everything had to hinge on Lando’s schedule—after all, there was no point booking anything before the driver finished the last leg of F1 races. Oscar felt a blend of calm and excitement; he was used to handling fans, live broadcasts, and complex gaming setups, but the idea of working directly with Lando Norris—a driver he actually followed and rooted for—gave the morning a special kind of spark.
He moved through the kitchen with practiced ease, brewing coffee and making toast while mentally reviewing the shooting schedule, the necessary gear, and a few talking points he wanted to pitch to Monster. Every detail mattered, but his enthusiasm was quiet—the perfect blend of professionalism and controlled adrenaline.
Then, the bedroom door creaked open. Olivia stumbled out, her little eyes still half-closed with sleep, her pajamas a bit rumpled and her hair a wild, messy mop. She walked over to her dad, reaching her little arms up in a silent plea that only Oscar understood.
"Daddy... hold me," she mumbled, her voice still raspy from sleep.
Oscar smiled instantly, his heart warming in a second at the simple gesture. He bent down and scooped her up, breathing in the sweet scent of kids' shampoo and the warm, soft skin of his daughter.
"Good morning, my sleepy princess," he said, kissing the top of her head. "Did you sleep well?"
Olivia just grunted and cuddled closer into his neck, resting her head against his shoulder. Oscar swayed her gently, her little feet dangling in the air as he made sure she was cozy.
Though things hadn't been easy with Olivia’s mother, Oscar had never let it get him down. Everything he did revolved around his daughter: his livestreams, the hours spent researching new games, even the patience it took to design her perfect bedroom. With the money he made online, he could provide a comfortable, high-end lifestyle in Monaco, while still ensuring Olivia felt completely loved and cared for.
As he held her, he couldn't help but crack a silly smile thinking about what was ahead. Lando Norris, at the absolute peak of his career, was going to be part of this unexpected summer. Olivia probably wouldn't get how famous he was at first. But deep down, Oscar had a feeling that maybe this would be the summer where everything changed—no rush, no labels. Just them, together, embracing the unexpected.
And across Monaco, Lando read the email once more, feeling a spark of excitement mixed with curiosity. He had no idea that this little project for Monster Energy was about to be the start of something so much bigger.
🌸
Dawn in Monaco was rarely quiet. The occasional honk of a sports car cruising down the narrow streets, the clinking of silverware at corner cafés, and the cries of seagulls soaring over the harbor all harmonized into the signature symphony of a city that never stopped moving. The open windows let in a fresh, slightly salty sea breeze that set the sheer curtains dancing across the sunlit living room.
Oscar stood in the kitchen, completely focused on chopping fruit for Olivia’s breakfast. The sweet scent of fresh apples mingled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, filling the apartment with a cozy warmth. The rhythmic thud of the knife against the wooden cutting board was almost hypnotic—a quiet reminder that, for a few minutes, life could be simple. He sighed, not from exhaustion, but out of pure, quiet contentment. A smile tugged at his lips as he thought about how these tiny gestures, like making breakfast for his daughter, were the things that truly gave meaning to his days.
Before he could transfer the slices into a bowl, the light pitter-patter of hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway. A moment later, Olivia burst into the room, running toward him with that infectious energy only kids possess. Her yellow Pikachu pajamas—bought months ago during a trip to Japan—swished with every step, the stitched-on ears on the hood flopping hilariously.
"Daddyyy!" she squealed, her eyes bright as she sprinted into the kitchen. "Hold me, please!" she begged, throwing her little arms up in the air.
Oscar couldn't resist. He tossed the knife onto the cutting board, quickly wiped his hands on a dish towel, and knelt down to scoop up his daughter. The second she wrapped her arms around his neck, Oscar felt that familiar wave of tenderness wash over him. It was as if every single one of Olivia's hugs could erase all his worries.
"Good morning, Vivi," he murmured, settling her against his hip. "Did you sleep well, my little sunshine?"
Olivia rested her face against her dad's shoulder but quickly spied the fruit bowl, her little nose tilting up in curiosity. Laughing softly, Oscar brought a small piece of apple to her mouth.
"Want a taste?" he asked.
She opened her mouth without hesitation, taking a small bite. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately clapped her hands in delight.
"Apple!" she announced, as if she had just made a groundbreaking discovery.
Oscar chuckled again, pressing her closer to his chest, feeling her light weight and the cozy warmth of her sleepy body. These were the moments he wanted to freeze in time—instants where nothing else in the world mattered.
But deep down, he knew today was going to be tough. The kind of day where his life as a dad and his professional life collided head-on. The Monster Energy shoot alongside Lando Norris was scheduled for that morning. It was a massive project, one that could open major doors in his career and solidify his partnership with powerhouse brands. Even so, Oscar knew his daughter well: Olivia was not going to be happy about him leaving the house on a free day.
She loved spending lazy mornings with him, watching RPG streams by a Brazilian streamer they both followed together. The couch piled high with pillows, her favorite blanket, the smell of popcorn in the air... it was practically a ritual. Breaking that ritual was going to hurt both of them.
Oscar closed his eyes for a second, taking a deep breath as the little girl nibbled on another apple slice he offered. Even as he smiled, his heart warmed by the sparkle in her eyes, he knew the hardest part was coming: explaining that he had to go.
He kissed the top of her head, breathing in the sweet scent of kids' shampoo.
"Did you know Daddy has an important meeting today?" he began gently, as if telling her a bedtime story. "I have to go work for just a little bit... but I promise I won't be long, and when I get back, we can watch our streams together."
Olivia crinkled her nose, biting into the apple with noticeably less enthusiasm. She tightened her arms around his neck, as if she could physically stop him from going anywhere.
Oscar sighed again, his heart torn. Being a single dad was a constant balancing act juggling responsibilities, dreams, and the absolute necessity of being present.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town and completely oblivious to all of this, Lando Norris finished replying to the Monster email. He slid his headphones over his ears, a lazy smile spreading across his lips. He was ready for the day to begin, having no idea that this very day would mark the start of something far bigger than a simple collab.
🌸
The sun was already high in the Monaco sky by the time Oscar managed, with a bit of gentle coaxing, to leave Olivia with the nanny. After a lingering kiss on his daughter's forehead and a promise that he’d be back soon, he headed over to the Monster Energy studio, located in one of the modern buildings near the harbor.
The mirrored glass facade reflected the deep blue of the sea, and the lobby buzzed with a vibrant, youthful energy: racing posters, stylized graffiti, and the brand's neon-green logo plastered everywhere. The deep bass of an upbeat playlist pulsed through the speakers, keeping the atmosphere relaxed and high-energy.
Oscar passed through reception, his credential swinging from his neck, and was guided by an assistant into the main shooting stage. The space was massive, packed with cameras on tripods, lighting rigs dialed in to catch every detail, and a racing simulator station taking center stage. Two full cockpits—complete with racing buckets, professional steering wheels, pedals, and curved monitors—sat side by side, ready for action.
He took a deep breath. His heart was beating faster than he cared to admit, but it wasn't a bad kind of nervous. It was that strange mix of anticipation and adrenaline.
And that's when he heard the sound of firm footsteps behind him.
"So, you're the famous Oscar," a voice said. It carried a thick British accent, slightly raspy with sleep but undeniably playful.
Oscar turned around and found himself face-to-face with Lando Norris. The McLaren driver was dressed in casual Monster gear: a fitted black t-shirt with the green logo across the chest, dark jeans, and a backward cap. His green eyes sparked with curiosity, and up close, his presence felt even more magnetic. It wasn't just the fame—it was his effortless, almost overly relaxed demeanor for someone carrying the weight of an entire racing team on his shoulders.
Oscar chuckled, adjusting the hem of his shirt.
"And you're the famous driver I'm supposed to try and beat on a simulator."
Lando raised an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
"Try, huh? I like the confidence."
They exchanged a firm, brief handshake. Oscar noticed that Lando held his gaze for a fraction of a second longer than expected, as if sizing him up. Not arrogantly, but with genuine curiosity—almost intrigued.
"I have to admit, I've seen a few clips of you playing," Lando said, walking over to his cockpit and running a hand over the steering wheel like it was a prized possession. "You're good. Really good, actually. Maybe a bit too good."
Oscar shrugged, laughing.
"Good enough to give you a run for your money, I hope."
The Monster crew interrupted them, quickly running through the schedule: first, a few takes for short promos, then YouTube videos featuring simulator challenges, and finally, some quick clips for social media. Everything was fast-paced and casual, but the core focus was the natural competitiveness between the two.
They settled into their respective cockpits. Lando adjusted his seat and grabbed the wheel with practiced ease, looking exactly as he would in a real car. Oscar, on the other hand, looked perfectly at home—this was his turf, the world where he had always shone.
"Ready to lose on camera?" Lando teased, slipping his headphones on.
Oscar arched an eyebrow, his lips curving into a confident smile.
"I'll pretend you have a chance, just so I don't embarrass you in your own merch."
The cameras started rolling, the intense studio lights illuminating the pair. The screens in front of them flashed with the track chosen for the first race, and the roar of digital engines filled the room.
The exact moment the virtual cars accelerated off the starting line, the vibe in the studio shifted completely. They were no longer just a driver and a streamer fulfilling a contract. They were two competitors, two distinct worlds colliding at full speed.
And watching from behind the monitors, the Monster crew already knew: the chemistry here was way too good to ignore.
The monitors lit up with the vibrant graphics of the chosen track: Silverstone, a classic. The very heart of Formula 1 and, in a way, the perfect stage for this showdown. The roar of digital engines filled the studio, punctuated only by the eager commentary of the Monster crew, who were capturing every second from multiple camera angles.
Oscar adjusted his headphones, locked in. His body leaned forward slightly as if he were about to launch off a real grid—a flash of muscle memory from a distant lifetime. He knew every twist and turn of this virtual track, every nuance of the simulation. The sim was his domain, his arena, and in this space, he felt invincible.
Beside him, Lando handled the wheel as naturally as breathing. His posture was different—relaxed, almost effortless. But Oscar knew, just like the driver's millions of fans did, that this casual demeanor masked razor-sharp reflexes and pure instinct. He didn't need to second-guess himself; his body reacted as if he were still in his actual McLaren seat.
"Good luck, streamer," Lando murmured, shooting a mischievous glance sideways.
"You're going to need more than luck to beat me," Oscar countered, his focus entirely on the countdown pulsing on the screen.
3... 2... 1…
Both of them pinned the throttle.
The digital engines screamed through the studio as the race began.
Oscar got the better launch, nailing the first corner with surgical precision. His virtual car glided along the tarmac flawlessly, a result of years of grinding on simulators. He couldn't suppress a smirk when he saw Lando drop a few tenths behind.
"Not bad," Lando noted, his voice calm but his eyes flashing with a competitive spark.
By lap two, however, the F1 driver showed exactly why he belonged among the best in the world. Coming into a tight corner, he took a massive risk with a late braking maneuver, diving down Oscar's inside and clipping the curb perfectly. The Monster crew erupted into cheers, a few of them clapping at the move.
Oscar huffed but kept his focus locked.
"Do you drive like that off the sim too? That was practically illegal."
"Only practically," Lando shot back with a laugh, keeping his car firmly in the lead.
The battle raged on. Down every straightaway, Oscar utilized his deep understanding of sim mechanics to chip away at the gap. Through every corner, Lando used his absurd reflexes to defend his position. Banter flew back and forth, the entire room practically vibrating with their energy.
By the final lap, it all came down to a matter of tenths. Oscar could feel his hands getting slick with sweat, his eyes glued to the screen, his breathing shallow. Lando still looked relaxed, but his rigid posture gave away his total concentration.
"Ready to take the L?" Oscar thrown out, his voice steady despite his racing pulse.
"I was born ready to win," Lando countered, powering down the back straight.
Oscar caught the slipstream on the final sector, gluing his virtual car to the Brit's gearbox. The finish line was seconds away. One tiny mistake, one heavy touch on the pedal, and everything could change.
And it did.
With a high-stakes overtake on the very edge of the final corner, Oscar crossed the finish line a mere 0.143 seconds ahead of Lando. The studio exploded into celebrations—shouts, applause, and laughter ringing out.
Oscar pulled off his headphones, sinking back into his racing seat with a massive grin plastered across his face.
"I guess it wasn't luck after all."
Lando took his headphones off too, shaking his head in disbelief, though his smile was even wider than Oscar's.
"Alright... you're better than I expected. Don't get used to it, though. This isn't happening again."
Oscar laughed, his eyes bright with satisfaction.
"Write it down, Norris. One-nil to me."
The Monster crew was already buzzing about how the clip would go viral, the contrast between a real-world driver and an ex-racer turned streamer being absolute internet gold. But for Oscar and Lando, the race had felt like something more than just content. It felt as though they had both just found an equal adversary—and perhaps, something else entirely.
Lando stood up, stretching lazily, but couldn't resist throwing out one last bit of banter:
"I hope you're as good off-screen as you are on it."
Oscar raised an eyebrow, entirely unfazed.
"You'll have plenty of time to find out."
And for the first time, Lando realized that this collab might just be the best gift the summer break could have given him.
🌸
The director’s final instructions echoed through the studio, bringing a wave of relief to everyone involved.
"That's a wrap for today, everyone. Great job! We'll start early tomorrow."
Oscar let out a heavy, barely perceptible sigh, carrying a hidden weight. The clock still showed it was only mid-afternoon, and the Monaco sky remained bright, painted in a soft blue that was just beginning to take on the golden brushstrokes of the sun. For him, this meant there was still time—time to be with Olivia, to make up for the hours he hadn't been able to give her his attention.
He gathered his things calmly, slipping his phone into his pocket, when a notification popped up on the screen: a photo sent by Mia. In the image, Olivia was sitting neatly on the couch in a pink Hello Kitty outfit, her hair tied up in two uneven buns—clearly the nanny's attempt to tame the little girl's wild mop—while she watched a Barbie animation on the TV, utterly enchanted. Her eyes sparkled, as if the whole world fit inside that screen. Oscar couldn't help but smile, shaking his head in adoration as he typed out a warm reply to Mia.
Before he could finish packing up his things, Lando walked over. The driver didn't look exhausted like the others; on the contrary, he had that light, curious, and carefree attitude, as if he still had enough energy for a whole second shift. His gaze locked onto Oscar for a few seconds, watching the streamer typing rapidly on his phone. But Oscar, out of instinct, locked his screen before any details could be revealed.
"Hey," Lando broke the silence, offering a smile that felt just as natural as it did rehearsed for interviews. "What do you say we grab a coffee? Nothing crazy, just... to get to know each other better. We’re going to be spending a few weeks on this together, so it’d be cool."
Oscar blinked a few times, caught off guard by the invitation. His heart squeezed slightly—after all, Lando was still his idol—not because it was uncomfortable, but because the memory of Olivia was still echoing loudly in his mind. He didn't have time, not today. He couldn't give in.
A self-conscious smile appeared on his lips, followed by a hasty excuse:
"I... actually have plans right now. Maybe another time."
And without leaving any room for questions, Oscar quickly said his goodbyes. He shook hands with a few crew members, waved to those still moving around the studio, and exchanged a few brief words with his manager, who merely offered a sympathetic smile in return. It was as if he already knew the weight Oscar carried and didn't need any explanations.
Leaving the studio behind for the parking lot, the noise of voices and footsteps faded away, replaced by the muffled rumble of engines. There, Oscar found his bike: a black Yamaha MT-07 with red accents, which looked practically custom-made for him. Sporty enough to turn heads, yet casual and practical enough for navigating Monaco's narrow, bustling streets.
He put on his helmet, adjusted his gloves, and before mounting the bike, let one last thought escape: Not today. Today is her day.
He turned the key, and the engine responded with that signature roar that vibrated through the parking lot. Within seconds, Oscar was cutting through the wind along the illuminated avenues of the principality, accelerating toward the home waiting for him, where Olivia would surely break into a massive smile the moment she saw him walk through the door.
The bike glided through the busy streets of Monaco, leaving a trail of a deep exhaust note and curious glances in its wake. Oscar, however, wasn't focused on the attention he was drawing—his mind was already at the apartment, anticipating the tight hug he knew was coming. The sunset cast golden reflections over the elegant buildings and the waters of the harbor, as if the entire scenery were conspiring to remind him of just how lucky he was to have Olivia.
Minutes later, he parked the bike in the building's underground garage. He pulled off his helmet, shook out his messy hair, and took the elevator up, his heart beating with anticipation. The moment the apartment door opened, the soft sound of a children's cartoon filled his ears—giggles and lively dialogue coming from the television.
"Daddy!" Olivia's high-pitched voice echoed before he could even put down his keys.
She ran across the living room, still in her pink Hello Kitty outfit, her bare little feet pattering hurriedly against the floor. Oscar didn't even have time to close the door: he knelt down instantly, opening his arms, and caught the full impact of his daughter's hug against his chest. The sweet scent of kids' shampoo mixed with the cozy warmth of her little body made everything else vanish.
"Hey, my love," he said, his voice softer, almost a whisper. "Did you miss me?"
"A lot!" she declared, puffing out her cheeks before burying her face in his shoulder.
Mia, the nanny, emerged from the kitchen with a glass of juice in her hands, smiling at the scene.
"She was an absolute angel today, but she asked about you every half hour," she remarked playfully. "I had to watch Barbie twice in a row."
Oscar laughed, adjusting Olivia in his arms before standing up.
"I knew I had to make up for lost time." He looked down at his daughter, tapping the tip of her nose. "Tonight is all ours, deal?"
The little girl flashed a massive, satisfied grin, as if it were the most important answer in the world.
He carried her over to the couch, sitting down with her curled up in his arms, while Mia gathered a few things and discreetly said goodbye, leaving them alone. The afternoon light was still bright through the window, and Oscar took a deep breath, filled with gratitude. Nothing in the world was worth more than this.
Meanwhile, back in the now-empty studio, Lando remained seated in one of the director's chairs, twirling a water bottle between his hands. He watched the crew pack up the equipment, but his mind was elsewhere.
Oscar's rejected invitation still echoed in his thoughts. It wasn't like him to get so interested in knowing someone outside of work so quickly, but there was something about that streamer that intrigued him. Maybe it was the way he smiled without realizing it, or the steady manner in which he seemed to carry something deep inside, hidden from the rest of the world.
Plans, huh? he thought, biting his lower lip. The excuse had sounded way too rushed, almost like a defensive wall being thrown up. And even though Lando had heard hundreds of similar excuses throughout his career, something about Oscar felt different. It wasn't arrogance, nor was it indifference. It was... protective.
He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms and letting out a frustrated sigh. He knew they would have plenty of other chances to talk; after all, they were locked into the campaign contract for the next few weeks. But his curiosity had already been piqued, and Lando wasn't the type to leave questions unanswered.
The driver picked up his phone, opened his messaging app, and typed a text to his manager:
"Find out a bit more about Oscar for me, nothing crazy. Just... basic info. Want to know who I'm dealing with."
He deleted and rewrote it three times before finally hitting send. He felt silly, but at the same time, completely intrigued.
Meanwhile, in the comfort of his home, Oscar let Olivia climb into his lap to show him the drawings she had made during the day—colorful scribbles that, to him, were true masterpieces.
Two different worlds, two opposite routines, but they were about to become far more intertwined than either of them could ever imagine.
🌸
Oscar’s apartment was bathed in a soft light spilling from the kitchen, where the aroma of fresh pasta filled the air. He had decided to whip up a simple dinner: pasta with homemade tomato sauce and grilled chicken bites—Olivia’s absolute favorite.
The little girl was helping in her own way, perched on top of a high stool, kicking her little legs while stirring a wooden spoon inside an empty bowl, mimicking her dad's every move.
"Daddy, I’m gonna be a chef when I grow up!" she declared with the absolute seriousness of someone who already had her entire life plan figured out.
Oscar laughed, dicing the chicken into small cubes.
"Oh, yeah? And I'm going to be your number-one customer."
Olivia clapped her hands, proud of the idea, before leaning over to sneak a pinch of shredded cheese from a small container. Oscar pretended not to notice, though he smiled to himself.
A little while later, they sat down at the table. Olivia, with her pink patterned plate, barely waited for him to say "bon appétit" before stuffing her mouth. Oscar watched her, resting his chin on his hand with that smile reserved strictly for her.
It was in these moments, between a sip of water and an unexpected burst of laughter, that he felt life truly made sense. All the effort, all the sacrifices, all the curious glances from fans who knew nothing about his daughter... none of it mattered. Right there was his reason for everything.
After dinner, he gave Olivia a bath, helped her pick out a pair of unicorn pajamas, and tucked her into bed. He sat beside her, reading a story while she fought sleep, until she finally gave in, her breathing turning slow and steady. Oscar stroked his daughter's hair, pressed a kiss to her forehead, and turned off the light, quietly pulling the door shut.
With the house now silent, he went back to the living room, pulled out his phone, and opened the photo Mia had sent earlier. Olivia was smiling at the camera with a mischievous glint in her eye, as if she already knew she was the center of her dad’s universe. Oscar sighed, shaking his head. He knew that hiding this part of his life forever would be impossible. But exposing Olivia felt wrong, too. It was a constant dilemma.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Monaco, Lando arrived at his modern, minimalist apartment, the automatic lights illuminating his path as he walked through. He dropped his backpack on the couch, grabbed a can of Monster from the fridge, and headed straight out to the balcony.
The view from there was breathtaking: the city lights danced on the water, the docked boats swayed gently, and the night breeze brought a coolness that contrasted with the energy still pulsing through his veins.
But despite the scenery, his mind was occupied with something else: Oscar.
He replayed the expression on the streamer's face when he had rejected the invitation. It hadn't just been a matter of being in a rush or lacking interest. Lando had spent enough time around people to pick up on nuances. Oscar was keeping something back.
He leaned back in his chair, took a sip of his drink, and let out a long sigh. Part of him told him not to care—after all, how many collabs had he done, with how many different influencers? But another part, a more stubborn one, wanted to understand what lay behind that reserved smile, that aura of mystery.
He pulled out his phone, opened Oscar’s Instagram, and scrolled through a few photos: streaming setups, snaps from gaming events, the occasional picture from his old racing days. All carefully curated. Personal stuff? Next to none.
That only fueled his curiosity.
He closed the app, rested his elbows on the balcony railing, and muttered to himself:
"I'm going to find out what you're hiding, Piastri."
And without realizing it, he smiled.
The Monaco sun was already high in the sky when Oscar parked his bike back in the garage of the studio reserved for Monster. He wore a denim jacket over a plain t-shirt and sunglasses, but he still drew curious glances from the crew arriving at the same time. It was impossible to ignore his natural charisma, even when he wasn't saying a word.
Deep down, Oscar felt a weight lift from his shoulders, remembering that today was a school day for Olivia. The relief didn't come from wanting distance from her, but from the peace of mind that came with knowing the little girl had her own space, with her friends, learning and having fun. He had insisted they walk there together, taking advantage of the pleasant morning weather. The sun hid behind a few scattered clouds, keeping the temperature cool, and a light breeze rustled the trees lining the sidewalk.
During the entire walk, Olivia hadn't been quiet for a single second. She talked with infectious enthusiasm about her school friends, describing them in rich detail, from the way they wore bows in their hair to each one's favorite color. Amidst these childhood stories, she proudly revealed that one of her friends had mentioned watching his livestreams every now and then. Oscar raised his eyebrows in surprise and let out an amused laugh when Olivia explained that the friend’s interest stemmed from her older brother, a loyal fan not just of motorsports, but specifically of Oscar.
She told the whole story with so much excitement, her eyes shining and her little hands gesturing in the air, that Oscar found himself slowing his pace just to stretch out that simple, precious moment, even if it meant running late for the shoot.
When he walked into the studio, he was greeted by his manager and part of the production crew. The cameras were already in position, the set decorated with Monster's green and black panels, and prominently featured was a can gleaming under the studio lights.
And there he was.
Lando Norris.
In a fitted white McLaren t-shirt, dark jeans, and white sneakers, he looked effortlessly casual yet impossible to ignore. His messy hair gave away that he had run his hands through it multiple times—a nervous habit many fans were well aware of.
The moment Oscar approached, Lando looked up and smiled—not the automatic smile of a driver in front of a camera, but a small, genuine, almost curious smile.
"Morning, partner. Sleep well?" he asked in a light tone, stepping closer naturally.
Oscar adjusted the strap of his backpack, trying to maintain the same casual air.
"I did, yeah. How about you?"
"So-so." Lando laughed, scratching the back of his neck. "I was up thinking about today's shoot."
It was a small lie, but a convincing one. In reality, he had spent half the night scrolling through Oscar’s feed looking for clues.
The conversation was cut short by one of the directors, who called them both to the set. The dynamic for the morning was simple: they would film a series of fun challenges involving more simulator races, which would later be spliced with promotions for the new Monster flavor.
Oscar settled into the simulator seat, putting on his headphones, and within seconds, he looked right at home. His eyes were sharp, his fingers agile on the controls, his posture that of someone who knew every inch of the track. Beside him, Lando wasn't about to be intimidated and jumped into the fray with teasing chuckles.
"Are you going to give me another beating right at the start of the second shoot?" he asked, throwing his weight forward as he avoided a risky corner.
Oscar shot him a sideways glance, a subtle smirk appearing.
"I don't usually pull my punches."
The atmosphere became entirely spontaneous, laughter echoing between one overtake and the next. The crew, thoroughly satisfied, captured everything: the unexpected chemistry between the streamer and the driver worked better than any script.
When the race finally ended—with Oscar winning again by just a few tenths—the crew clapped enthusiastically. Lando held his hands up in surrender.
"Alright, you won again... but I’m catching you next time." He leaned in, bringing his face just a few inches closer than necessary, his eyes locked onto Oscar’s. "And this time, no mercy."
Oscar looked away, masking his tension with a short laugh. But inside, his heart was racing in an uncomfortable way.
While the crew adjusted the cameras for the next take, Lando struck up a conversation again, this time dropping his voice:
"Hey... what about yesterday? What did you get up to after we wrapped?"
Oscar remained completely calm on the surface, but a tightness immediately gripped his chest. He thought of Olivia, the pink Hello Kitty outfit, the giggles before dinner. He quickly searched for a safe excuse.
"Just had some personal stuff to take care of," he replied dryly, shutting the conversation down.
Lando arched an eyebrow, intrigued, but didn't press. He simply offered a lopsided smile, mentally noting the other man's resistance.
Deep down, both of them knew: this partnership was only just getting started.
🌸
The hours in Monaco flew by, and the next Monster shoot had to be postponed. Lando had mandatory commitments with McLaren: a car feedback meeting scheduled at the technical center.
He walked into the bright glass room, greeting engineers and strategists before taking a seat at a table covered in tablets, projected graphs, and scribbled notes. The room had a serious atmosphere, with the faint, metallic scent of freshly brewed coffee.
Even though Lando was used to this, he found his mind wandering at times. The chief engineer was explaining adjustments to the suspension, while another talked about aerodynamics and the flaws noticed in the last race. He absorbed it all, responding when necessary, but a part of him was somewhere else—remembering the guarded look on Oscar’s face when he dodged questions, the way he seemed to be hiding an entire piece of his life.
He bounced his leg under the table, restless, and forced his focus back to the laptop in front of him. Still, deep down, he knew that the moment he stepped out of there, his curiosity about the streamer would come rushing back.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Oscar was taking advantage of the unexpected free time to dedicate himself to his Twitch channel. He had already been live for over an hour, the camera capturing his easy smile while the screen showed virtual races in EA Sports games.
"Alright, guys, now it’s time for the giveaway," his voice rang out enthusiastically, a sweet contrast to the serious tone he used in his daily life. "I’ve got some game codes here, special editions, and some goodies that EA sent over. Let’s see who wins today."
The chat was exploding with messages, hearts, and compliments. Oscar, even while focused on the race, read through some of the comments, laughing at fans' jokes and responding with that signature calm that had won them over.
That afternoon, Olivia was home with him. There was no school, and Mia wouldn't be coming until late afternoon to take the little girl to her ballet class. Earlier that morning, Oscar had explained:
"Vivi, Daddy needs to work for a little bit, but if you need me, you can come in."
The five-year-old already understood well. Because of that, she spent her time in her bedroom—a space that was a perfect reflection of childhood and, at the same time, the subtle touch of being the daughter of someone passionate about racing.
The walls were painted in soft pink tones, almost like cotton candy, decorated with silver star stickers and posters of a smiling Hello Kitty. On one of the shelves, lined up like trophies, were little toy racing cars customized specially for Olivia—gifts that a few sponsors had sent Oscar in secret, knowing about her existence, even if most fans didn't. Only those who had followed him since the very beginning of his streaming career knew. Each car had the name "Olivia" or "Vivi" painted in shiny miniatures, as if she were the youngest driver in the world.
In the corner sat a fluffy, heart-shaped rug, a low table covered in colored pencils and sheets scribbled with children's drawings. Plush toys occupied a small armchair—her favorite being Kuromi, whom Olivia never let go of.
But that afternoon, the little girl's stomach was rumbling. Olivia remembered that her dad had stored packs of crackers in a low kitchen cabinet. Holding her Kuromi plush tightly, she walked over there with determined little steps. She pushed a chair over to the cabinet, rested her doll on the seat, and stretching her little arms, managed to reach the pack.
The problem was that it was sealed tight. Little fingers pulled, bit, and pulled again—nothing. Olivia sighed, grabbed her doll back, and headed toward her dad’s studio-bedroom, where she knew she wasn’t supposed to enter except in emergencies.
She hesitated at the half-open door. The sound of Oscar’s lively voice echoed, mixed with the laughter from the chat. But her little stomach rumbled again, and that gave her courage.
She pushed the door open slowly, stepping inside with the pack in one hand and the plush under her other arm.
Oscar, in the middle of a tight virtual race, noticed the movement in the corner of his eye. When he spun his chair around, he found his daughter standing there with an apprehensive expression, holding the pack tightly as if it were a treasure.
His heart melted instantly.
"Hey, my princess," his voice softened completely, completely dropping his streamer persona. "Are you hungry?"
Olivia nodded, biting her lip, and approached him with small steps. She held out the pack with both hands and asked softly:
"Daddy, open it, please. I can't do it..."
Oscar chuckled softly, taking the pack from her hand. The smile that spread across his face was meant only for Vivi—a smile the chat couldn’t see, but one that was worth more than any virtual victory.
He tore the pack open with ease, pulled out a cracker, and brought it to his daughter’s mouth. Olivia flashed a massive, satisfied grin, chewing happily while pressing Kuromi against her chest.
Oscar pulled her close, his headset still on, but his heart now completely split between the stream and that little piece of the world he kept entirely to himself.
Oscar smiled down at his daughter, lowering his voice to a more affectionate tone:
"Want to stay here with me for a bit and watch me play?" he asked, gesturing for her to climb into his lap.
Olivia’s eyes went wide and radiant, bouncing Kuromi against her chest.
"Yes!" she responded enthusiastically, running toward her dad and settling comfortably onto his lap. Oscar wrapped an arm around her, making sure she was secure, while his other hand remained agile on the keyboard and mouse, keeping the stream active.
The little girl adjusted herself, resting her plush on her chest and holding her crackers, which she now ate carefully. She chewed slowly, as if each crunch were a small victory, making sure not to choke while she watched the virtual cars gliding across the screen.
Even as he switched back to his streamer tone to interact with the chat, Oscar didn't miss a single one of Olivia's movements. The smile appearing on his daughter's lips, the way her little body fit perfectly against his, and the brightness in her eyes as she watched the race—everything reminded him of just how precious this private moment was.
He pointed quickly to the small Monster mini-fridge beside the desk, where he kept his energy drink cans, some water bottles, and juice boxes.
"Look, Vivi... do you want some strawberry juice?" he asked, already opening one of the boxes.
The little girl nodded eagerly. Oscar poked the straw into the designated hole, making sure it wouldn't slip out. Then he handed the box to his daughter and guided her gently:
"You can set it right here on the desk, that way you can drink while you eat without spilling anything."
Olivia set her juice down on the small desk, still holding her crackers, and leaned forward slightly, her eyes glued to the screen. A satisfied smile spread across her face as she took small sips, balancing her snack and her drink like a multitasking expert—or at least trying to be.
Oscar returned to the stream, alternating between commentary and game commands, but now he had that quiet, comforting presence in his lap. Every little chuckle from Vivi, every curious glance she shot at the digital cars, made him smile inside, even while maintaining his professional posture for the chat.
That balance between work and fatherhood, between the public eye and privacy, felt fragile, but in that moment, it worked perfectly. And Oscar knew that as long as he had his little girl in his lap, he didn't need anything else to feel complete.
As the virtual cars raced around the track, the chat window on the screen exploded in colors and emojis. Messages flashed by at high speed, some commenting on Oscar’s performance, others on his setup, and some that were entirely too curious:
"Wait, is Oscar holding someone in his lap??"
"How cute, looks like a kid is there!"
"Guys, did he bring a pet? Or is it a doll?"
Oscar quickly realized what had sparked their curiosity. A chill ran down his spine, but he kept his cool, smiling down at his daughter without looking directly at the monitor.
"Vivi is just keeping me company while I play, alright guys?" he said, keeping his tone light and playful, without giving away any details that could expose his daughter. "No names, just company."
Olivia pressed Kuromi against her chest, nodding her head in agreement, and smiled up at her dad. She seemed to understand that this was their moment, caught between the real world and the virtual one.
A few more curious comments popped up, but Oscar deflected them with skill: making jokes about "training for the game's next race" or talking about the upcoming giveaway, keeping the live focus exactly where he wanted it—interacting with fans, but without revealing his daughter.
Between one car jump and the next, Olivia finished eating her crackers, wiping her mouth with her wrist, and took a few more sips of her strawberry juice. Oscar watched her every move, smiling discreetly, barely noticing that the chat was still commenting:
"He’s so sweet...",
"I’ve never seen him like this, it’s like a whole different side of Oscar!"
The streamer took a deep breath, balancing his mouse, keyboard, and his daughter tucked comfortably into his lap. He knew he would have to maintain this balance throughout the entire stream: sharing content, entertaining his audience, and at the same time, protecting his daughter from prying eyes that had no business seeing this intimate side of his life.
And as the cars continued to race across the screen, Olivia rested her head against her dad's shoulder, letting out a satisfied sigh, with Kuromi still held firmly in her little arms. Feeling that sweet, comforting weight against him, Oscar thought: This is how it should be. This is how I want every day with her.
Even surrounded by technology, fans, and cameras, in that instant, Oscar's world was reduced entirely to his daughter in his lap, the sound of her giggles, and the sweet scent of strawberry juice. Every detail, no matter how small, felt etched into his chest, reminding him that no virtual victory, no audience, and no game could ever replace these simple, perfect moments.
🌸
A few days had passed since the live stream where Olivia joined her dad, and their routine continued its delicate dance between shoots, gaming, and quiet moments at home.
That day, Olivia had her ballet classes. Mia had already explained that the little girl was rehearsing for a special performance at the very end of the month, where she would play the Black Swan—a children's piece that blended technique and imagination, featuring costumes that looked like soft feathers and gentle glitter. Oscar felt a quiet sense of pride every time Mia brought up the rehearsals: his daughter’s discipline, her focus on the movements, and the sweetness with which she immersed herself in the dance always made him smile to himself.
After his morning stream, where Olivia had stayed to watch her dad play and work, Oscar quickly checked a few forums and fanbases. As always, the comments regarding the episode were positive and filled with affection: fans pointing out that the streamer was a dad who respected his own private life, admiring how he kept Olivia protected without the need for exposure. Some even offered to defend his boundaries whenever new followers showed up asking too many questions.
Oscar smiled as he read those messages, feeling that familiar warmth of gratitude. He was proud of his community, of the way they respected his life and understood his boundaries. He would share details about his daughter only when he wanted to, and that was enough.
Later, when he arrived at the Monster studio, the atmosphere was light. Sunlight streamed through the panoramic windows, illuminating the brand’s themed decor: green and black panels with iconic cans scattered around, neatly organized equipment, and the subtle aroma of fresh coffee lingering in the air.
Oscar rested his helmet on one of the tables, taking a deep breath. Today, he and Lando would face a different kind of challenge: decorating cakes with themes inspired by some of Monster’s most iconic cans. The idea was simple, silly, and fun—perfect for generating laughs and natural interactions for the camera.
He stretched his arms, rolling his shoulders, and thought: This is going to be fun... maybe I'll show it to Vivi later. He imagined his daughter's eyes lighting up, her exclaiming: "My daddy the chef!", just like she used to say whenever he prepared a meal or when she saw a special treat or snack.
Oscar smiled to himself. Those kinds of thoughts kept him light, even in the middle of commitments and shoots. Being a father wasn't just about taking care of her; it was about creating memories—small, colorful, delicious ones—that somehow survived even outside of cameras and audiences.
He approached the workbench, picking up a spatula and some sprinkles, glancing over at the spot where Lando was still setting up his own station. The driver looked concentrated yet relaxed, messing around with the ingredients like someone playing with a new piece of technology—and, of course, trying not to spill anything.
Oscar took a deep breath, adjusting his apron, ready to dive into the silly but fun activity, certain that this was the good part of life: mixing colors, laughter, and small doses of happiness, even if temporary, before heading back to his daughter’s arms later on.
Oscar positioned himself next to Lando, observing the organized workbench. Each of them had their own cake base, colorful sprinkles, and small tools to mold details. The camera recorded every movement, but the pressure of the public eye felt distant in that moment; the focus was purely on the challenge and the unexpected company.
"So..." Oscar began, holding his spatula, "have you ever decorated a cake before, or is this going to turn out just like you driving in the simulator?" he asked with a subtle smirk, trying to bait a reaction.
Lando raised an eyebrow, leaning forward as he grabbed a piping bag with a firm grip:
"Hmm... I’ve made a few cakes at home. But you're going to see that I’m faster than you, doesn't matter if it's baking or on the track." He flashed a lopsided smile, that mischievous spark in his eyes appearing, something Oscar was really starting to notice.
The competition started off playful: each of them modeling, spreading frosting, and mixing colors. Oscar noticed that Lando was focused, but his eyes frequently sought out Oscar's, small smiles breaking out whenever something went unexpectedly wrong or looked funny.
"Wait a minute..." Oscar interrupted, pointing at Lando's cake, which was leaning to one side in a hilarious way. "You did that on purpose, didn't you? Trying to distract me?"
"No way!" Lando responded with a laugh, leaning over the counter. "This is natural talent... or natural bad luck, depends on how you look at it."
Oscar couldn't hold back his laughter, playfully smudging a bit of frosting onto the side of his own cake. Lando laughed out loud, shaking his hand to clean up the mess, and the vibe between them grew lighter, more fun, almost intimate.
During a quick pause, Lando looked over at Oscar, resting his chin in his hand:
"You know... you seem really relaxed today. Are you always like this, or is it because of these cakes?" he asked, clearly trying to strike up a conversation, but without pressing too hard.
Oscar shifted his gaze quickly, but he couldn't entirely hide his reaction. A small smile appeared:
"Maybe I'm just... having fun. Who knows, maybe I'll show this to someone special later." He didn't say anything more, but the comment instantly piqued Lando's curiosity.
The driver arched his eyebrows, leaning in closer, as if he had just overheard something crucial, and murmured softly, meant only for Oscar:
" 'Someone special,' huh? Now I'm intrigued..."
Oscar swallowed hard, maintaining his composure, but inside he felt a sudden flutter. Lando’s approach was subtle, yet completely intentional. He knew this partnership was going to be fun, but he hadn't imagined it would start affecting him in such unexpected ways.
Meanwhile, the cameras kept rolling, capturing every gesture, every laugh, and every little frosting mishap, creating a perfect blend of goofy competition and quiet chemistry. Oscar could already picture how much Olivia would laugh when he told her about the mess they made, mentally calling his daughter his "mini chef."
The day rolled on, and between lopsided cakes, scattered sprinkles, and quick glances, something lighter and full of curiosity began to bloom between them—a seed of connection that not even the most carefully planned script could have anticipated.
🌸
The day's shoots finally came to an end. The scent of frosting still hung in the air, a few colorful smudges remained on the counters and aprons, and the final bursts of laughter echoed through the studio. Oscar took a deep breath, feeling that pleasant satisfaction that comes from a fun day's work.
Lando walked over to him just as he was packing away his helmet and gloves.
"Hey... how about that coffee now?" he asked casually, but with a spark in his eyes that said more than words.
Oscar paused for a moment, caught off guard by the invitation. A small smile played on his face, his sudden shyness fading before he could answer.
"Yeah... alright," he said, finally giving in.
Lando flashed a genuine, almost disbelief-tinged smile, thrilled by the response. He had already been interacting with Oscar in other ways over the last few days—subtle likes on his stories, light comments on his posts, messages exchanged between shoots. He knew that Oscar vanished out of nowhere from time to time, coming back with quick apologies, but there was something about this mystery that only fueled Lando's curiosity.
"Awesome!" Lando said, giving Oscar a light pat on the shoulder before stepping away to grab his gear. "See you at the coffee shop then."
"Deal," Oscar replied, still smiling as he tucked away one last can of Monster into the studio mini-fridge before heading for the exit.
When they reached the parking lot, each headed for his own vehicle. Lando climbed into his sleek, understated sports car, while Oscar mounted his Yamaha MT-07—a sporty bike, but practical for quick trips and agile maneuvers through the city.
The ride to the café was smooth. Oscar took a moment to enjoy the wind, the warmth of the sun hitting his helmet, and even thought of his daughter, wondering how she would react if she could see this more "adventurous" side of her dad.
Arriving first, he parked the bike and pulled off his helmet, running a hand through his hair, which was already a bit windblown. The café was nestled on a quiet street, with outdoor tables catching the golden late-afternoon light. He picked a table near the window where he could watch the street while he waited for Lando to arrive
.
Within a few minutes, the familiar figure appeared on the horizon. Lando walked with a relaxed stride, yet still carried that driver’s aura that effortlessly drew eyes. Spotting Oscar, a broad smile broke across his face.
"Early bird, huh?" he commented, stepping up to the table.
"The bike helps with traffic," Oscar replied, sliding off his sunglasses and gesturing for Lando to sit. "But I don't mind waiting for you."
Lando laughed, pulling out his chair.
"Good to hear." He leaned in slightly across the table, watching Oscar intently. "We need to make the most of these moments before the next shoot kicks off."
Oscar nodded, slipping his apron into his jacket pocket, still carrying the lighthearted mood of wrapping up a work day. For a few moments, both fell silent, but it was a comfortable silence, filled with quiet expectations and a mutual curiosity that grew by the minute.
Lando signaled the waiter for two coffees, and while they waited, they couldn't help but smile, as if it were the first time they were truly meeting off-camera, away from the spotlight and cake challenges—just them, the city of Monaco in the background, and the inkling of something more beginning to take shape.
The place was quiet, almost lazy, with the deep aroma of freshly ground beans drifting through the air, blending with the sweet scent of pastries and fresh bread. The chatter of patrons intermingled with the delicate clinking of cups and spoons against porcelain, creating a low melody that filled the space. Oscar and Lando sat side by side, each holding a steaming mug, their fingers wrapped around the warm ceramic as if seeking comfort in the escaping heat. They laughed softly over little stories from the cake shoot, the kind of humor that only surfaces when you're truly at ease, unhurried and without expectations. The afternoon sun broke through the large windows, washing the light wooden table in golden rays and reflecting in their attentive eyes, which shone with a quiet complicity.
"So..." Lando leaned forward slightly over the table, elbows propped up, his eyes locked onto Oscar’s. "You really have fun with these goofy competitions, don't you? It doesn't just seem like work."
Oscar smiled, slowly stirring his coffee with a spoon, watching the steam dance above the beverage and blend into the sweet-scented air of the shop.
"Yeah... there's something comforting about it. It makes me forget the rush, the streams, and even some everyday problems." He paused, looking absentmindedly out at the street where pedestrians walked carefree under the warm afternoon light. "And it’s just good to laugh a little."
Lando nodded, his eyes fixed on Oscar’s, catching the sincerity in every word. For a few moments, it felt like the outside world had vanished. The city, with all its traffic, honking, and hurried footsteps, had shrunk down to that single little table, that calm conversation, and the comforting touch of the sun filtering through the window.
But suddenly, Oscar’s phone buzzed sharply. He glanced at the screen and froze when he saw Mia's name. A sudden chill swept through his body. He answered quickly.
"Hello?" he said, trying to keep his voice steady, though a tremor nearly slipped out.
On the other end, Mia’s voice came through laced with panic.
"Oscar! Olivia... she fell during rehearsals! Her ankle... it’s hurt! I'm taking her to the hospital in an Uber right now!" The words tumbled out, nearly breathless. "She’s crying from the pain and wanting her daddy!"
For a split second, Oscar’s world silently collapsed. The clinking of the cups, the murmur of the café, even Lando’s voice calling his name grew distant and surreal, muffled as if passing through a heavy fog. The phone nearly slipped from his hand, the call ending with a click that seemed to echo in his chest. Then, as if someone had hit the fast-forward button, the world rushed back at full volume: loud, chaotic, overwhelming.
He sprang to his feet, nearly knocking over everything on the table, snatching his phone up with trembling hands. Lando arched his eyebrows, startled.
"Oscar?" he called out, his voice laced with concern, seeing his friend standing there, rigid, his gaze locked on a point beyond the visible.
Oscar threw some bills onto the table, completely ignoring the change, every fiber of his being consumed by the urgency to get to his daughter.
"Wait, wait..." Lando tried to catch him by the shoulders. "Breathe, Oscar."
But he was already moving toward the exit, nearly bumping into patrons and waiters. He inadvertently brushed past an older gentleman, and Lando quickly offered an apology, catching up to hold Oscar steady before he could lose his footing. His hands shook as he reached for his bike keys, every passing second weighing like an eternity.
"Oscar... Oscar!" Lando called again, firm, gripping his friend's arm and shoulder. "You are in no condition to ride like this!"
Oscar took a jagged breath, trying to suppress the desperation burning in his chest, his throat tight and his eyes stinging.
"Lando... I need to see my daughter at the hospital. Now!" The words came out practically as a shout, heavy with panic and love all at once.
Lando stepped back a pace, surprised by the intensity of the declaration, but understanding clicked instantly. Making a split-second, firm decision, he gripped Oscar’s arm.
"Alright... alright, I’m coming with you." He wrapped an arm securely around his friend, anchoring him, taking control of the situation. "We'll have someone pick up your bike from the café lot later. You are not riding like this, no way."
Oscar breathed deeply, trying to calm the tremors wracking his body, but every second felt infinite. Lando kept a firm grip on his arm, guiding him carefully to the car, his eyes expressing concern, determination, and a silent promise that he wouldn't leave him to face this alone.
"Let's go, Oscar. Hang in there. I'm with you, and no one is leaving you alone right now." Lando’s voice was steady; a solid anchor in the chaos consuming Oscar.
Oscar nodded, leaning slightly into Lando, still trembling but feeling a thread of relief unravel inside him. Adrenaline surged through his veins, his heart hammering, but the simple fact of not facing this terror alone eased a bit of the crushing weight he carried.
The car glided swiftly through the streets of Monaco, the engine humming steadily, but none of it could distract Oscar from the worry consuming his chest. Every traffic light felt like an eternity; every turn sharpened the pit in his stomach. His hands still shook, lightly gripping the edge of the seat, while his eyes remained glued to the road ahead, imagining little Olivia with her hurt foot, crying softly or whimpering, wanting her dad’s arms.
Lando, at the wheel, maintained a calm but sharp posture. He watched Oscar out of the corner of his eye, noticing the tension and urgency in his gestures. He tried to break the silence in a firm yet gentle tone.
"What exactly happened, Oscar?" he asked unhurriedly, even though he knew every second counted.
Oscar took a deep breath, his body still rigid. His voice came out low, a hurried whisper.
"She... she was at ballet rehearsal. Mia said Vivi was practicing her Black Swan movements... and she fell. Hurt her ankle." He paused, swallowing hard. "I don't know exactly how it happened."
Lando kept his eyes on the road but adjusted his stance slightly, as if wanting to absorb every detail without crowding him.
"Was she alone with Mia?" he asked softly. "No one else was there?"
Oscar shook his head.
"No... Mia was with her. But there were other kids at the ballet school too..." He swallowed hard. "She was crying... she wanted me, her daddy. And I... I just thought about getting there as fast as possible."
Lando glanced over at Oscar for a moment, catching a rare glimpse of vulnerability on the Australian's face. It was the first time he had seen Oscar so exposed, stripped of his streamer persona or his serious adult exterior. The revelation that he was a father washed over Lando in a subtle but powerful wave, adding a whole new dimension to how he saw Oscar: protective, dedicated, and viscerally tied to his daughter.
"I get it," Lando said calmly, lightly squeezing Oscar’s hand where it rested near the gear console. "You'll be there in no time, and she's going to be fine. Mia seems reliable, right?"
Oscar nodded, soothed slightly by the steady anchor of Lando's voice.
"Yeah... Mia is amazing. She looks after her like no one else. But... it's Olivia, you know? She's only five, and when it hurts... she just wants me." A trapped sigh escaped his lips, his eyes fixed on the street, feeling the urgency but also a budding trust that Lando was right there, attentive and present.
"She must have really felt it..." Lando commented without judgment, simply observing. "But you're about to be there. And I'm right here with you." He gave Oscar’s shoulder a quick, subtle tap; quiet but solid support.
The car navigated the narrow streets and smooth curves, Lando driving with calculated precision, as if it weren't just the car relying on his accuracy, but the life of someone he deeply cared about.
With that touch, Oscar felt a faint wave of calm begin to spread through his body. The tension didn't vanish, but he knew he wasn't alone. Lando was there, steering, observing, asking questions without prying, and for the first time, Oscar allowed himself to lean partly on that unspoken support.
"She's going to be fine, Oscar," Lando said again, like reinforcing a promise. "You'll see, once we get to the hospital, everything will be sorted out."
Oscar breathed deeply, his eyes welling with a mix of worry and relief. For the first time, he realized that this smiling, playful driver he had only known through shoots and stories could be someone to lean on; at least for now, until they reached the hospital doors where every second, every step, belonged to Olivia.
🌸
Oscar could barely breathe properly as he hurried across the hospital lobby, each quick step carrying the urgency of a desperate father. Just ahead, Mia was holding Olivia in her arms. The little girl's eyes were still rimmed with tears, but she was clutching her Kuromi plush tightly. The moment she spotted her dad, Vivi reached her little arms out toward him, uncontrolled sobs escaping her as she clung to Oscar’s neck with all the strength her tiny hands could muster.
"Oh god, sweetheart..." Oscar murmured, leaning in to scoop his daughter up, feeling Vivi's light body against his, though his heart was heavy with fear over the injury.
He looked quickly at Mia, who had calmed down a bit, and said, his voice still unsteady:
"Thank you... thank you for taking care of her until now."
Mia simply nodded, already preparing to leave.
"Don't worry about it... I already gave them all the info at the front desk. But Oscar, I really have to run now. My classes start in less than an hour, and I still have to get back home," she said, trying to sound steady, though a lingering trace of worry remained in her eyes.
Oscar nodded, still holding his daughter close.
"I know... and I'm so grateful for everything, Mia. Thank you for calling me and looking after Vivi. You were amazing."
Mia offered a slight, relieved smile before slipping away, leaving Oscar and Lando alone with the little girl.
Oscar settled into a nearby armchair, keeping Olivia nestled against his chest. He whispered low words of comfort, kissing his daughter’s forehead and gently rubbing her back. The little girl, still curled into a ball, finally began to calm down, her breathing slowing between small hiccups.
Lando, who was still standing and watching cautiously, decided to step closer and sat down next to Oscar. Curious, he looked at the little girl, who was now peeking at him from her spot on her dad's shoulder, despite the pain that clearly still lingered in her ankle.
With a soft smile, Lando made a few funny faces, shaking his head in an exaggerated way, and a watery little giggle soon slipped from Olivia. The sound brought almost instant relief to Oscar, who looked at the driver with silent gratitude, feeling the suffocating weight of fear lift just a bit.
"Look at who's trying to distract you," Oscar murmured, stroking his daughter's head, before finally making the introductions. "Vivi... this is Lando. Lando, this is my daughter, Olivia."
Olivia looked at Lando, her eyes still curious but much calmer, as if she could instinctively feel he wasn't a threat. Oscar continued, keeping his voice low and gentle:
"He's Daddy's friend, Vivi."
The little girl tilted her head, still resting on her dad's shoulder, but began to study the driver intently. Lando smiled again, more gently this time, extending a hand in a friendly gesture.
"Hi, Olivia..." he said, his voice quiet and unthreatening. "I'm Lando. I heard you're a very talented ballerina."
Olivia let out a soft little chuckle, the pain and fright of the fall already fading under the gentle attention of her new friend. Oscar took a deep breath, a spark of relief warming his chest: in that moment, not only was his daughter safe, but he could see that Lando possessed a natural, quiet, yet entirely sincere care; something that, somehow, brought immense comfort.
He leaned in slightly to Olivia, whispering:
"See? Lando is nice, just like we said."
Olivia finally allowed herself to relax, staying tucked in her dad's arms but watching the two of them with sharp, curious eyes, while Oscar felt—for the first time since the fall—that he could finally breathe a little easier.
A few minutes later, a nurse called Olivia’s name, guiding them down a bright, quiet hallway to an exam room. Oscar carried his daughter, still feeling the lingering tension of the fall and the scare Mia had gone through, while Lando walked beside them, watching every step carefully.
The room was small but orderly, with soft lighting that didn't bother the little girl's eyes. There was a small child’s chair in the corner, neatly stacked toys, and a faint scent of antiseptic mixed with the fresh smell of clean linens. Olivia rested her head on her dad's shoulder, but she didn't shrink away from Lando, who stayed close, smiling warmly and pulling small faces to catch her eye.
"Alright, sweetheart, let's take a little look at this foot, okay?" the doctor said—a young, calm woman approaching with gloves and a reassuring smile.
Olivia whimpered softly, gripping Oscar’s hand tight, but didn't pull away. The Australian kissed her forehead and rubbed her back, murmuring soothing words.
"Easy, love... it's okay, Daddy's right here. I'm not letting go."
Lando leaned in slightly, giving Oscar his space but looking at Olivia with gentle eyes.
"You're incredibly brave, you know that?" he said, trying to distract the girl while the doctor carefully examined her ankle.
Olivia looked at him with wide, still-teardrop-rimmed eyes, but a small spark of curiosity flared up. The brief chuckle that escaped her brought a wave of relief to Oscar, his chest tightening with gratitude and affection at his daughter's positive reaction.
The doctor examined the ankle with care, asking Olivia to point out where it hurt. Oscar held her hand, speaking softly.
"That's it, just tell me if it hurts, okay? You're doing amazing, Vivi."
"Daddy... it hurts a little bit," the girl murmured, burying her face in his shoulder.
"I know, love... but we're going to fix it right up, and then you can rest," Oscar replied, kissing her forehead again.
Lando watched, silent but attentive. He didn't say much, just smiled softly, adjusting to the presence of Oscar and his daughter as if instinctively understanding the boundaries he needed to respect, but also the trust he could slowly build.
"Alright, I have some good news," the doctor finally said, wrapping up the evaluation. "It's just a mild sprain, nothing serious. We'll put a splint on it, use ice, and take it easy for the next few days, but nothing that requires staying at the hospital."
Oscar took a deep, grounding breath, feeling the tension finally drain from his shoulders. He kissed his daughter again and sighed.
"See? Daddy didn't leave you alone. Everything's okay now."
Olivia let out a breath, leaning her head to the side and looking at Lando with a small smile. The driver returned it warmly, pulling a funny face and waving his hand, earning a repressed giggle from the little girl.
Oscar, feeling the immense weight of worry lift, looked over at Lando and, with a tired but genuine smile, said:
"I think you can get to know Vivi a bit better now... she's much calmer."
Lando nodded, leaning a little closer to the girl while maintaining a respectful, gentle distance.
"Hey, Olivia... now we can hang out with a lot less pain, huh?"
The little giggle that escaped the girl was enough to make Oscar feel a gentle warmth bloom in his chest, realizing that even amidst the scare and the pain, a tiny bridge of trust was forming between Lando and his daughter.
As soon as the doctor cleared Olivia, Oscar carefully settled her back into his arms, making sure the splint was comfortable and that she was securely holding her Kuromi plush. The little girl, her foot still a bit tender, snuggled into her dad's chest, but her curious eyes kept drifting back to Lando, who walked alongside them, keeping his smile calm and attentive.
"Feeling better, love?" Oscar asked, kissing his daughter’s forehead. "I promise Daddy's going to take perfect care of you now."
The drive back home was quiet, but filled with small gestures of care and attentiveness. Lando kept his eyes on the road, yet still found quick moments to check on Oscar, and Oscar felt that steady, dependable presence beside him, which brought an unexpected sense of security.
Olivia, for her part, remained calm, holding her dad's hand and casting curious glances at Lando—no longer frightened, but thoroughly charmed by this "funny friend" her daddy seemed to silently approve of.
When they arrived home, Oscar carefully tucked his daughter onto the living room couch, wrapping her in a blanket and handing her a strawberry juice box. Lando stayed close, watching the quiet dynamic between father and daughter, feeling that even on a day born of fear and worry, something soft and unexpected was beginning to take root between them.
"I think she already likes you," Oscar murmured, a tired but genuine smile on his lips.
Lando laughed, a bit shy but thoroughly pleased by the little giggle that slipped from the girl, stepping just a fraction closer—as if that shared space of care were building a silent bridge between the three of them.
🌸
A few days passed since the scare at the hospital. Olivia was recovering well from the sprain, but she still required extra care and constant attention. Oscar, always meticulous, realized he wouldn't be able to balance the Monster shoots with the demands of looking after his daughter. Taking a deep breath, he picked up his phone to text Oster directly, explaining the situation: he needed to take a break from that day's commitments due to a family emergency.
Shortly after, he posted a simple message for his fans on Instagram:
"I won't be streaming this week. I need to take care of some personal matters. See you all soon!"
He didn't provide many details—Oscar had always fiercely protected his private life, especially when it came to Olivia. But despite his absence, the fans understood and rallied behind him, sending messages of affection and understanding.
Because of this, communication with Lando intensified. The driver began sending discreet messages, always asking how Olivia was doing, if they needed anything, or just chatting about little things to keep in touch. Oscar, for his part, replied carefully but with a natural ease that showed his growing trust in his new friend.
One afternoon, while Olivia was playing with her customized toy racing cars and her Hello Kitty dolls on her bedroom's pink rug, she looked up at Oscar with bright, shining eyes:
"Daddy... the funny uncle... can I talk to him on FaceTime?" she asked, pointing at her dad's phone.
Oscar looked at her in surprise, but smiled. She was recovering well, and that spontaneous request showed just how innocently and naturally attached to Lando she had already become.
"Sure, love... but let's make it a quick call, okay?" he said, opening the app and setting the phone to video call mode.
A few seconds later, the screen lit up with Lando’s smiling face, raising a hand in greeting.
"Hi, Olivia! How are you doing today?" he said in that light, playful tone that always made the little girl laugh.
Olivia, still sitting on the rug and clutching her Kuromi plush, broke into a wide grin and waved excitedly.
"Uncle Lando!" she said, her voice filled with childhood excitement. "Daddy told me you're funny!"
Lando chuckled softly, leaning a bit closer to the camera.
"Hey, I really am funny, but only when Daddy lets me be." He winked at her, earning a stifled giggle from Olivia.
Oscar watched the scene from a nearby armchair, feeling a mix of relief and tenderness. Seeing his daughter so relaxed, interacting naturally with Lando, he felt deep down that this connection could grow into something meaningful—not just for him, but for Olivia too.
Throughout the call, Lando asked about the little girl's days, her drawings, and her ballet practice, always keeping things light and thoughtful. Olivia, in turn, excitedly recounted her little adventures of the week, showing off her cars, dolls, and even the little decorations Oscar had set up for her to the camera. Every one of the girl's giggles made Oscar let out a sigh of relief and affection, feeling deeply grateful for Lando's discreet yet constant presence in his daughter's life.
At the end of the call, Olivia blew a kiss to the screen to say goodbye.
"Bye, funny uncle! See you tomorrow!"
Lando smiled, waving back.
"See you tomorrow, mini chef! Take care, okay?"
Oscar hung up the FaceTime call, his heart completely warmed. Olivia snuggled into his lap, still riding the wave of excitement, while her dad stroked her hair.
"See? He really likes you," he murmured, kissing the girl's forehead. "And I like him too, but you are always my number one priority."
That simple moment, packed with connection, strengthened not only the bond between father and daughter, but also a quiet, delicate bridge forming between Oscar and Lando—one built on care, trust, and small doses of affection that were still finding their own rhythm.
🌸
Months passed since the launch of the Monster campaign. The shoots had wrapped up successfully, the commercials were edited, and the short videos for YouTube were released, leaving Oscar thoroughly satisfied with the results.
Between shoots, live streams, and racing commitments, Oscar and Lando's routines had intertwined in a subtle but constant way. The messages they exchanged were no longer just about work schedules or campaign protocols; Lando had started to flirt discreetly, always keeping it light, sometimes sending funny stickers or emojis that made Oscar smile in spite of himself. Whenever Olivia called on FaceTime, the driver made sure to play along, pulling faces, mimicking funny voices, and, of course, drawing out stifled giggles from the little girl. Watching from the screen, Oscar felt a warmth spread through his chest every time he saw his daughter open up to someone else—and even then, Lando completely respected the girl's boundaries, never overdoing it, offering nothing but sincere attention.
Over time, during breaks in the Formula 1 season, Lando began visiting Oscar and Olivia's apartment in Monaco. The little girl had already shed her splint and returned enthusiastically to her ballet classes, practicing graceful movements on the living room's pink rug, surrounded by her customized cars and Hello Kitty dolls. Oscar, ever the proud dad, would show off his daughter's little milestones to Lando, and the driver, thoroughly charmed, watched every step intently, cheering her on as if he were witnessing a masterpiece.
It was during one of these visits that Oscar decided to add Lando to his private Instagram account. It wasn't just a gesture of friendship; it was a silent acknowledgment of the closeness that had developed between them. Lando could now see photos of Olivia from the time she was a baby up to the present day—ballet moments, trips to the park, small birthdays with colorful cakes—and Oscar watched with tenderness as Lando's expression softened while scrolling through those memories, noting the persistent kindness the driver brought with him.
The relationship between them became natural and comfortable, marked by small intimacies: quick texts between commitments, sharing snapshots of their daily lives, and the quiet certainty that they could rely on one another. The initial tension, which had been nothing more than mutual curiosity and playful flirting, had blossomed into something deeper, though still not fully voiced—protected by the very bond Olivia created between them.
Then, during a particularly major race week scheduled to take place in London, Lando sent a different kind of message, accompanied by an excited invitation emoji:
"Hey, Oscar... I was thinking... what if you and Olivia came down to Silverstone this week? I can get you special access to watch the race right from the McLaren garage. You'd be my guests. What do you think?"
Oscar fell silent for a few seconds, staring at his phone as his chest tightened with anticipation. He looked over at Olivia, who was sitting on the rug with her racing cars and her Kuromi plush, playing and humming softly to herself. The Australian's heart swelled with tenderness, imagining his daughter's reaction to the invite:
"Vivi... do you want to go watch Uncle Lando race up close?" he asked gently.
Olivia immediately snapped her head up, her eyes dancing with excitement.
"Yes, Daddy! I want to go!" she exclaimed, hopping up slightly while still clutching her plush.
Oscar smiled broadly, picking his phone back up to reply to Lando.
"That would be incredible! We're in, Lando. Thanks for the invite, you have no idea how happy this is going to make Olivia."
Lando’s reply came almost instantly.
"Perfect! Get ready for a VIP experience. Olivia is going to love it, and I can't wait to show you both around."
In that moment, Oscar felt a surge of pure happiness. It wasn't just the chance to take Olivia to see a race—something she absolutely adored and that brought a distinct sparkle to her eyes—but also the opportunity to spend quality time with Lando in a safe, special environment, far away from cameras and formal obligations.
As Silverstone week drew near, Oscar began planning every single detail of the trip: comfortable clothes for Olivia, little toys to keep her occupied, juices and snacks for the road, and, of course, how to make the absolute most of the experience in the McLaren garage. Olivia, meanwhile, couldn't stop imagining the cars, the drivers, and especially the "funny uncle" who always made her FaceTime calls so entertaining.
And Lando, on his end, made no effort to hide his excitement. Every text was a blend of fun and attentiveness, always focused on ensuring Oscar and Olivia had the best experience possible—unbeknownst to him, perhaps, that this simple, generous gesture was further cementing the bond silently growing between him and Oscar.
The day dawned bright at Silverstone, the clear sky reflecting off the helmets and gleaming bodywork waiting to tear up the track. Oscar arrived early with Olivia, who was still a little sleepy but buzzing with anticipation for the day ahead. The little girl wore a light pink jacket adorned with Hello Kitty details, and her Kuromi plush was carefully secured under her lap safety belt as her dad carried her. Oscar held his daughter close, making sure she wouldn't get lost in the bustling paddock crowds, but also because she simply seemed to feel safest and most comfortable in his arms.
Lando had arrived just a bit earlier, stepping out of his car with his usual easy smile, already surrounded by a handful of fans who recognized the McLaren driver instantly. He greeted them quickly, waving and answering rapid-fire questions, but his gaze frequently drifted back to Oscar and Olivia, who remained discreetly on the sidelines, taking in the scene.
"Daddy... look at the cars!" Olivia squealed, squeezing Oscar's hand as he held his phone up to snap a few quick photos.
"I know, love... they're huge, aren't they?" Oscar said, smiling down at her. "But Uncle Lando is going to show us everything up close."
When they finally stepped into the McLaren garage, the atmosphere was electric. Engineers were tinkering with the cars, mechanics were rushing back and forth, and cameras captured every detail of the pre-race prep. Oscar set Olivia down for a few seconds, but the little girl immediately preferred to climb right back into her dad's arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, her eyes wide as she absorbed everything around her.
A few members of the media team approached them, greeting Oscar and Olivia with warm smiles.
"Ah, you must be Lando's guests, right? We've heard a lot about you!" one of the producers said, handing them their special access passes.
Olivia smiled shyly, hugging her plush tight, while Oscar replied politely, feeling a surge of pride for his little girl.
Lando, looking a bit self-conscious, noticed Oscar watching him with an arched eyebrow and a faint smirk, clearly daring him to take up the mantle of tour guide. With a soft chuckle, the driver smiled back and decided to take the lead.
"Come on, let me show you where the magic happens," he said, guiding Oscar and Olivia through the garage. "This is where the cars are prepped, and every single detail matters... even the smallest bolt can change everything."
Olivia looked on in wonder at every tool, every engine, and every exposed gear. Oscar kept a firm hold on her, but let her curious eyes roam freely, watching his daughter's interaction with the environment while stealing quiet glances at Lando, noting how genuine the driver was about taking his time to explain every corner of the garage without any rush.
Lando pointed to the cars, breaking things down in a simple, fun way for Olivia, who laughed and asked innocent questions:
"Is the car going to fly fast?"
"And are you going to win, Uncle Landinho?"
The driver chuckled softly, bending down slightly to meet the girl at eye level.
"We're going to drive very fast, yes, and I'm going to do my absolute best to impress you guys."
Oscar watched Lando's every move intently, a gentle warmth settling in his chest. The ease with which he approached Olivia, his care not to startle her, and his playful way of interacting with the little girl created a nearly perfect picture, brimming with tenderness and shared connection.
As they walked through the garage, Oscar noticed how Lando would glance back at him from time to time, subtle yet intense, with that shy but striking smile that made the Australian feel seen in a way that stirred something new inside him. And Olivia, unconsciously, was beginning to realize that this "funny uncle" wasn't just her dad's friend, but someone who brought genuine fun and safety to her day.
"Want to see the race car up close?" Lando asked, reaching a hand out so Olivia could lightly rest her fingers against the gleaming machine as she inspected it.
The little girl clung even tighter to her dad, but nodded eagerly. Oscar, holding her securely, took a step forward, letting Olivia take in every detail while Lando leaned in to explain things carefully, pointing out the colors, the engine components, and even showing her where the driver would sit during the race.
That single moment, simple and rich with detail, marked the beginning of a quiet new routine among the three of them: Oscar watching his daughter have fun and place her trust in Lando; Lando learning how to navigate a little girl who, despite her occasional shyness, yielded entirely to his kindness; and the blossoming connection between the two adults, anchoring itself in small gestures, shared glances, and mutual smiles.
The afternoon at Silverstone carried that almost electric energy that always precedes a race. The roar of the engines echoed through the garages, a vibration that resonated deep in the chest of everyone present. Olivia, who had seemed shy earlier, was now completely wide awake, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she clung to Oscar's neck, who held her securely against him.
"Is it starting, Daddy?" she asked softly, her face partially hidden in the crook of his neck.
"It is, sweetheart. Uncle Lando is going to drive super fast now," Oscar replied, pressing a lingering kiss to his daughter’s temple.
Lando was already zipped up in his race suit, adjusting his gloves, but before heading out to the pit lane, he made a point to come over. He smiled at Olivia and struck a dramatic pose with his hands, like a superhero gearing up to save the day.
"I'm going to be thinking of you guys out there. I want to see you cheering hard, okay?" he said, winking at the girl.
Olivia smiled, a bit bashfully, and pumped her little fist in a show of strength, copying a gesture she had seen her dad do on his streams. Oscar couldn't contain a low laugh, squeezing his daughter closer.
Once Lando climbed into the cockpit and the mechanics took their positions, Oscar moved with Olivia to the designated guest area. The mounting roar of the engines made the little girl cover her ears for a split second, and Oscar quickly adjusted the child-sized ear defenders the team had provided.
"Better?" he asked, smoothing the headphones into place.
"Better, Daddy..." Olivia replied, relaxing back into his arms.
The moment the red lights went out, Oscar’s heart raced right alongside the cars. He had never watched a race like this before, from so close. He could feel the vibration of the machines in his feet, in his chest, as if he were part of the track itself. Olivia, despite her age, let herself get swept up in the spectacle, pointing at the cars as they screamed past at high speed.
"Is that Uncle Lando, Daddy? Is that him?" she asked, her eyes glued to the McLaren tearing down the straightaway.
"It sure is, Vivi. That's him." Oscar smiled, watching his daughter's excitement blend completely with his own.
The race remained intense, and every time Lando blasted past the pit wall, Oscar felt Olivia’s tiny hand tighten against his shirt in pure excitement. At certain moments, she even raised her little arm, as if hoping the driver could see her from all the way out there.
When the checkered flag finally waved and Lando crossed the line in a solid position—not on the podium, but still entirely worthy of applause—Oscar realized he was smiling in a way he hadn't in a very long time. The pride swelling inside him wasn't just for the driver, but for the man who, step by step, was becoming a part of his life—and Olivia’s.
After the race, once the garages opened back up, Lando returned still sweaty but wearing a massive grin. He pulled off his helmet, his hair completely messy from the race, and scanned the area until his eyes found Oscar and Olivia waiting for him.
"See? I told you I was racing for you guys!" he called out, walking over to them.
Olivia practically lunged forward from her dad's arms, reaching her tiny hands out to Lando. He couldn't resist and scooped her up effortlessly, despite his exhaustion. The little girl laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck with complete ease.
"You drove so fast, Uncle Lando! So fast!" she cheered, her face completely lit up.
"I only drove that fast because I had the best cheering section in the world," he replied, shooting a lopsided look at Oscar, who was taking in the scene with a mix of tenderness and something deeper—something that warmed his chest and made his heart feel lighter than air.
Oscar crossed his arms, trying to maintain his usual composure, but his soft smile completely gave him away. He couldn't remember the last time he'd seen Olivia attach herself to someone so quickly. And seeing Lando with her, still in his race suit, sweaty and laughing as if he were right at home, just felt... right.
"You're going to spoil her," Oscar commented, shaking his head, though he couldn't hide the blatant pride shining in his eyes.
"I certainly hope so," Lando answered without thinking, his tone light but laced with an undeniable weight.
For a few fleeting moments, the clatter of the garages, the tools, and the interviews happening all around them completely faded away. All that was left was that single picture: Lando holding Olivia with pure affection, and Oscar standing right beside them, watching with a look that spoke far louder than any words ever could.
🌸
The following months flowed naturally, almost inevitably. What used to be shy invitations for coffee or quick visits transformed into longer, more intimate encounters, always carrying a lightness that made one thing clear: Lando and Oscar were genuinely falling for each other.
There was no official proposal, no grand declaration. But suddenly, they were practically a couple. Oscar noticed it in the little gestures: the way Lando would rest a hand on the back of his neck without a second thought, the complicit glances shared over a simple meal at home, the "goodnight" texts that had become routine, and the "I miss you" messages disguised as jokes.
Olivia, perceptive as always, began to notice too. On certain days when Lando showed up, she would run to him with her little arms wide open, happily calling out:
"Daddy Lando!"
At first, Oscar was caught off guard and would even try to correct her, but Lando always just smiled, bending down to scoop her up.
"I like it when she calls me that," he would say later, in a soft voice, while brushing the little girl's brown hair out of her face.
And that was how, step by step, their new routine cemented itself. They had cozy nights in: sometimes at Oscar's apartment, where Olivia would snuggle between them on the couch to watch Barbie movies; other times at Lando's place, where the driver would make homemade pizzas that usually turned out a bit misshapen but always brought plenty of laughs.
Whenever Olivia stayed with Mia for what they called "Girls' Night"—mini cartoon marathons, colorful pajamas, and playing until late—Oscar and Lando finally had moments entirely to themselves. Between quiet dinners, shared wine, and long conversations, their touches lingered, their kisses deepened, and their intimacy grew in an inevitable way.
The internet, of course, didn't take long to notice. A photo here, another there: Oscar and Lando leaving a London café together, Olivia in Lando's arms in the paddock, laughs exchanged beside a car. The articles started out tentative but soon spread everywhere. Curious fans in Oscar's live streams even went as far as asking directly about the rumors.
The Australian, smiling at the camera, simply replied:
"I finally found someone."
That was all it took. The chat exploded with affectionate messages, most of them celebrating his happiness. Few dared to pry any further, as everyone knew how fiercely Oscar guarded his personal life.
Inside the McLaren garage, the scene repeated itself. Oscar and Olivia became familiar faces, always welcome, and always surrounded by the team, who already saw them as part of the family. It became almost a ritual: at the end of every race, Lando would climb out of his car and, even before the interviews, hug Oscar and Olivia. The gesture, spontaneous and full of emotion, no longer escaped the cameras—and it certainly didn't escape Oscar, whose heart raced every single time.
It was official: even without titles or labels, the three of them were already one.
