Work Text:

The routine used to be simple: get up, brush your teeth, and have breakfast before going for a run.

That was what Kousei had always done, until he discovered that his true favorite pastime was staying by Okuto's side.

Kousei lay back and gently reached out to stroke Nakamura's forehead, slowly sliding his fingers down to his nose and then to his jawline.

Inside, Okuto felt a slight heaviness throughout his body and squeezed his eyes shut; he didn't want to wake up, knowing that this feeling of exhaustion was his partner's fault.

Kousei knew perfectly well that Nakamura's whole body ached, and he was the cause.

As he gazed at that serene face, his mind was filled with constant doubts: Do I really deserve him? He knew he had a vulnerable side that he rarely showed; sometimes he became too possessive, and he feared that, over time, Okuto would tire of his intensity.

He couldn't bear the thought of his omega leaving him, and in his darkest moments, intrusive and terrifying thoughts assailed him, making him fear even himself, for fear of hurting the one he loved most.

"I love you!" he confessed easily, as he always had.

Upon hearing those words, Okuto's eyes widened and met his gaze; the answer was already written in that look, even though it hadn't yet left his lips.

Nakamura's face turned bright red, and without thinking much, he acted on impulse: he lowered his head and gently bit his cheek.

Kousei could clearly see how Okuto seemed angry, but at the same time, he snuggled closer, unable to maintain any distance.

He's too cute, the alpha thought, feeling an immense desire to embrace him and never let go. He couldn't contain himself: he repeated, "I love you!" and covered his cheeks with passionate kisses.

Okuto grumbled under his breath.

"Enough..."

He gently pushed him away and then struggled to his feet.

"I'm hungry!" he demanded, trying to regain control of the situation, even though he's more impulsive and always acts like this when he's with Kousei.

With that movement, his hand slammed into Kousei's shoulder.

"Ouch!" the alpha exclaimed, his voice sounding more pained than he actually was.

Nakamura's hand hung in midair. He knew he was right: the alpha was solely responsible for his condition, and he deserved more than a few blows, but he shouldn't hit him for that.

The impact didn't hurt Kousei at all, but he feigned pain to elicit pity and achieve a quick reconciliation; he even moistened his eyes to appear more convincing.

Seeing him like that, Okuto stared at him, and although he thought he hadn't hurt him enough, he ended up murmuring an apology he didn't mean at all.

Kousei seemed to read his thoughts and, without saying anything else, headed towards the kitchen.

Okuto followed him silently, with a small, hidden smile that the alpha noticed instantly, though he decided to pretend he didn't realize he was being followed—he thought his attitude was ridiculous (why doesn't Okuto stay in bed?), but deep down he loved it.

He realized he had become an alpha who couldn't be separated from his omega for long; it was embarrassing, but for him, that dependence was just another proof of how much he loved him.

Besides, Okuto also experiences that feeling!! This is what it means to be soulmates ♡♡ I'll die of love someday because of how amazing this situation is.

Before Okuto could react, Kousei turned around, swept him into his arms, and held him close to his chest.

"Let's go back to bed," he suggested in a deep voice, his gaze so intense it was hard to refuse.

Okuto understood perfectly what that suggestion implied: if they went back into the room, they wouldn't be coming out all day. Even so, he found it difficult to object.

"Do you have the day off?" he asked cautiously.

Kousei smiled with an air of arrogance and confidence.

"Of course I do."

That answer made Okuto's blood rush to his head, but he stopped resisting.

He rested his face against his partner's neck like a koala clinging to a branch, and although he didn't want to get down, he knew Kousei had no intention of letting go either.

"Then let's go to bed..." he finally agreed, "but before that, I'm hungry!"

"Well!" Kousei smiled flirtatiously. "I'll have breakfast first~~" he hummed
