Chapter Text
It was a regular grey rainy evening, the peaceful sound of the soft pitter pattering on the window filled the silent bedroom. The soft orange rays of the setting sun pierced through the dark clouds, passing through the window and becoming the bedroom's only source of light. Coms bedroom more specifically. The toned, almost pitch black skinned man laid in his bed. His iconic white sweater with yellow cuffs, was lying at the end of his bed. He wore his dark grey collared undershirt, sleeves rolled up, and his pair of black dress pants. 3 miniature copies of himself with stick arms and legs cuddled up against him. He laid facing upward, his arms underneath his head to support it as a secondary pillow. His skin-matched colored hair was messy, hugging at his neck. He contemplated getting it cut shorter several times but January, his roommate, had always protested. Speaking January, he was the only thing going through his mind right now. He was drowning in it. Why January of all people? He didn't have any ill feelings toward January, in fact, they got along quite well ever since he had moved in.
He stared up at the ceiling. Was he developing feelings? Coms sticky note face changed to a smile, remembering the times he'd consistently bicker and tease January. The times they sat next to each other on the couch watching whatever nonsense January had chosen. Thinking back, did Coms ever actually watch the shows? The only things he could remember about those nights is seeing the way January smiled, listening to his laughter and giggles at scenes Coms wouldn't find funny. He thought about what would've happened if he had just.. Reached out.. And touched Januaries hand, or moved a little closer to him so they were touching shoulders. What would January do? How would he react?
Coms shuffled slightly, grabbing the miniature versions of himself, he called Comlings, and holding them in his arms up to his chest as he turned to his side. Now facing the rain stained window. He was now day dreaming, holding hands, smiling together, hugging each other. How good it would feel to have January’s lips against his own.
Coms felt his face burn. He immediately rolled back onto his back and shot himself upward, shaking his head vigorously. What was he thinking? He shouldnt be thinking about his roommate like this. He took a deep breath and looked down at his tiny friends. They looked up at him with heart shapes on their sticky note faces.
‘Oh no..” he exhaled forcefully. Turning his head to look around the room, and just as he had thought. The place was crawling with 60 tiny Comlings, some dancing about, others jumping excitedly. Was he falling in love with his roommate? Well, there was no other way to explain why his Comling trio had multiplied. They only ever do that if his emotions get stronger.
Coms sat the original Trio down on the bed, getting up. The only thing he could think of that could get these critters to calm down was to distract himself with some food. Coms tip-toed and maneuvered his way around the Comlings, stopping in front of the door. He sure hoped January wasn't out there. He did say something about going out somewhere. But, what if he is out there? What if he hasn't left yet? What if he had just gotten back? Coms pondered, his hand hovering above the door handle, contemplating. Looking back and forth between the many Comlings and the door handle. He needed to get rid of these creatures somehow. Coms sucked in a deep breath and slowly opened the door.
“Hey, Coms!”
Coms froze like a statue and immediately, almost as if on instinct, every single Comling that was previously doing their own thing, perked up at the sight of January. Flooding out of the room like a wild horde of bulls, all the way to January. Coms wasn't focused on that though. He stared at January, “You.. you uh.. Just take.. A shower? Or.. something..?” Coms managed to mutter out as his eyes fought and failed the urge to let his eyes travel downwards. He scanned January's chest, taking in every muscle, the water that slowly dripped down his pale skin, the light that bounced off, January looked handsome. Coms wasn't going to admit that thought though. Coms cleared his throat, unable to look away. The tiny comlings only grow in numbers.
“Eyes up here, buddy,” January chuckled, gesturing his hand from his chest to his face.
Coms flicked his head up immediately as January continued. “Yeah, I did, It was pretty good” an audible gulp could be heard in the silence.
“I'm..I'm glad” Coms said sheepishly, glad about what? That the person, that’s been on his mind, had a good shower? Now that’s all he could think about! The steamy room makes January sweat, the way his arms raise when he takes his hair out. The water droplets from the shower dragging themselves down January's paper pale skin at an agonisingly slow pace. The-
“Coms? You good? You have the uhh.. heart shaped thing on your sticky note there.. And these little guys are multiplying” January waved his hand in front of Coms’ face.
Coms quickly snapped back to reality. Swiping at his sticky note and taking it off. His more demonic face exposed, he hated taking his sticky note off, but he was okay if it was just he and January.
“Uh.. Yes! Yes! I'M PERFECT! Peachy!” Coms said a little too quickly.
“I uhh.. Gotta go now! It was nice chatting with you!” and without another word or hesitation, Coms ran toward the front door, the Comlings following behind, upset that they had to leave January’s side, but wherever Coms went, they went too. Once every last Comling had made their way out of the door he slammed it behind him.
That was the only downside he had about his sticky note. It made hiding his feelings very.. difficult. Practically impossible. Coms was still standing at the front door, leaning against it as he dragged himself down. The Comlings surrounded him, piling around his sides and sitting in front of him like a poorly built barrier. He stared at his sticky note. He can't keep acting this way. He should not be fantasising about his roommate like this.. like THAT. He definitely made a fool out of himself back there. What was he going to do now.. Coms stuck the sticky note back over his face and stood up, the Comlings tumbling over as he did so. Now that he was outside he may as well venture out into the evening to forget about these unwelcoming thoughts he's been drowning in for the past few days.
