Ever since the second wizarding war was over and Voldemort was finally defeated, Harry Potter was made Godfather of Teddy Lupin and the couple, Tonks and Remus, adopted him shortly after.
It had been 11 years since the war ended and the small family lived in a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. The cottage itself was pretty, it was small but big enough for the 4 of them and maybe fit 2-3 visitors.
The interior was designed with florals and mixed patterns, beige curtains draped down to the floor. Tonks was cooking and Remus helped with the mixing of ingredients. The aroma in the kitchen smelt amazing, it strongly smelled of apple pie and other dishes.
Harry was sitting in the living room with Ron and Hermione, catching up on things since they didn't really have time to see each other regularly anymore, given their busy lives.
The three friends laughed and watched Teddy while talking. Teddy was playing with a few muggle toys that Hermione brought him, a train set and a few toy trucks.
The child had turned 11 recently and Remus and Tonks were bickering over the ingredients and instructions, when a letter slipped through the slightly open window, entering the tiny space.
The three looked at it and their faces lit up when they realized what the letter was. Teddy had gotten his first ever Hogwarts letter!
Harry took the letter from the floor and his fingers brushed against the carpet when he picked it up.
"Tonks, Lupin! You have got to see this!" He exclaimed, still staring st the letter when Teddy sat beside him on the couch, clutching a toy train.
The couple looked panicked when they turned their heads to each other abruptly and ran towards the living room.
"What is it? Is something wrong?" Tonks asked, her hand gripping the soft velvet of the couch.
"Teddy got his first letter!" he answered, now turning to Tonks and Remus, their worried faces turning into a rather excited one.
"Merlin, Harry. You almost scared me to death!" Remus breathed, but he approached his son and hugged him tightly, squeezing him and muttering a tiny "I'm so proud of you." in his ear.
Hermione and Ron congratulated Teddy and Harry called Dobby who appeared in a snap of s finger.
"Harry Potter called Dobby, sir?"
"Dobby, can you get a cake for me? Teddy just got his first letter to Hogwarts." Harry requested.
Dobby nodded and snapped his fingers, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
The family was now seated at the dining table, cramped but comfortable. Dobby came back with the cake and Harry invited him to stay.
The group congratulated Teddy once again, and his smile was so wide you might've thought his muscles were getting strained.
The family celebrated and Teddy passed out on the living room floor from a sugar crash, squeezed between his parents, arms around him.
The three friends quietly left the cottage and went to a different location, leaving the family peacefully as they slept, the sunlight shining through the glass.
