It’s not that serious.

Work Text:

He groggily rubbed his eyes, the aftermath of an intense rave hitting his entire body. His head screamed in agony, the alcohol killing him.

Water. He needed water.

And carbs.

As Shouta dragged his aching legs to the kitchen to find some white bread and drink water, he noticed Hizashi, his roommate sitting on the couch, seemingly calling a venue about DJing for their festival tonight.

Shouta didn’t mind it. It was a good side gig, honestly. It helped with rent, as he’d usually earn around 450 dollars per night. And it’s not like he’d overwork himself either. Or at least he didn’t know. Sometimes he didn’t know where Hizashi started, and where “Present Mic” ended. The thought creeped him out a little, but he decided it was pointless to think about it, and moved on completely.

As Hizashi wrapped up his phone call, he looked up at his roommate from the couch, grinning.

“And guess who just got another job? Preeettty sure it should cover this month’s rent, yeah?”

“Yeah. Great. Thanks.”
Hizashi made room on the couch, patting the spot, signaling Shouta to sit next to him.
As he sat down, he looked at Hizashi, trying to read his expression. He could tell, sometimes.
But today, it was unreadable.
He stared as Hizashi made arrangements for the next rave he was going to DJ for. He didn’t know if it was a good time to bring up, but, if he never brought it up, then..

But if he brought it up..

But what would happen if he didn’t?

“Hizashi, can we talk?” He blurted out awkwardly, eyes darting away as his chest started to pound.

“Shouta, yeah what’s up yo?”

“It’s about last night.”

“..sure, what ‘bout last night?” Hizashi replied, with slight skepticism in his voice.

“You know what I’m talking about. Stop beating around the bushes.”

“Ohh, yeah, I know what ya mean. That stunt that Oboro pulled off yesterday? Shit, he was almost jailed. Hilarious shit. Classic.”

“No, it’s not that, listen, Yamada—“

“What? You worried about Oboro? He’s kinda stupid sometimes but he ain’t gonna cause trouble again. And if you’re really that worried can’t ya just talk to him?”

“No, it’s not about Oboro. It’s about you.”

“The jobs? You don’t gotta attend every rave I’m DJin’ for. You can take a break man! Yeeesh, even when Oboro can’t make it sometimes you always find time for lil ol’ me. I’m flattered ya know. But if it’s about that, no need to attend every event. I know everyone’s got their off days.”

“No, it’s not that either. I don’t mind supporting you through your jobs. I’m serious, Hizashi.”

“Soo.. what is it about? I’ve been throwing out every single possibility of what you’d wanna chat to me about but I can’t seem to figure it out!”

Did he really forget? The way he feigned innocence almost made Shouta confused. No, he knew it happened.

Last night, Oboro nearly got arrested by the police for graffiti. Afterwards, Oboro went back home. That left him and Hizashi, since Nemuri said she wasn’t feeling herself.

They were both drunk. It was an honest mistake. He didn’t realize it, but before he knew it, they both had their lips gently pressed against each other. Before Hizashi quickly pulled away from the kiss, and looked away, embarrassed. Shouta didn’t know if Hizashi was embarrassed of himself, or Shouta.

“Never mind. It’s not that serious.” He managed to spit out a stupid excuse, wondering if it was worth it.

“Yea you sure?”

“Pretty sure.”

“Ay, if you ever need to talk again I’ll be here waitin’!”

“..yeah.”
