Work Text:
Tanselle had noticed Lacey for the way she moved around the tourney grounds like everything was exciting and new. In conversation, she was as bitter and jaded as any woman of the world, though charming with it, but some part of her was clearly still unscathed and reaching out into the light. It made her want to see what joy she could bring out in her.
She had heard that Lacey had turned and hid when the Targaryens banners approached. It was telling, especially when joined with Lacey’s looks and the things she had said about her mother and her life. Even still, though, there were things Lacey seemed to be carefully avoiding mentioning. So what was Tanselle missing? Was Lacey hiding something, or was it something terrible that she simply could not bring herself to mention? She wanted to find out.
