Work Text:
Year 6, Regarden Academy, Graduation
“Can you believe it, Ed?”
Workner twirled around the center of the room in his new Gloria like a giddy toddler. Edward sighed.
“Of course he can, Workner,” Serah replied, throwing her arm around Edward. “Our dear Ed didn’t just make it to the Upper Institute, you know! He’s been scouted by the Dark Faction since the beginning of this year. I’m surprised they didn’t allow him to Ascend on the spot after graduation.”
Edward flushed a little, and tried to dislodge the multi-affinity mage from his shoulders. No luck: Serah could rival a binding spell when she latched onto a person.
Why said person couldn’t have been Workner, Edward didn’t know.
“Careful, Clairie; don’t give Edward’s new cape wrinkles.” Workner admonished. Then he came up and slung his own arm around Edward’s shoulders. Traitor.
“Could you two miscreants release me already?” Edward complained, but he didn’t bother struggling. Honestly, Edward kind of enjoyed their comradery. When he met Workner six years ago, he never thought they would become such close friends. Then Serah had come along, declared the two men her friends, and wouldn’t take no for an answer. The three had quickly become inseparable.
Edward was loathe to admit it, but the two mages had become important fixtures in his life. Especially now, when they were all Ascending together. Even though they had all pledged different factions, Edward had no doubts they would all reach the top.
“Magia Vander, here we come!” Serah announced, punching her free hand into the air with a fist. Edward smiled.
“Magia Vander, here we come,” he echoed.
