“Ever since they came into existence, humans have been the dominating species of our world. But centuries ago, a new species arose. They were animalistic creatures with human-like features and abilities. Humans titled these creatures monsters and began teaching them to be like humans. They forced them to dress, talk, act, and work like humans to fit into their ideal society. Monsters who did not accept this change were either forced to cope with it, or were killed. After being assimilated and forming the Monster Kingdom, monsters lived alongside humans for many decades without major conflicts. But on one fateful day, in an act of revenge, a monster killed a human. This was not the first time it had happened, but it was the first time that a monster discovered that it could absorb human souls. The monster absorbed the human’s soul, and it gave them immense power."
The monster broke out on a killing spree and was eventually killed, too. Out of great fear and anger, humans declared war on the monsters, convinced that the creatures would absorb more of their souls to wreak havoc on humanity. The humans and monsters met at the base of a mountain, and after a long battle, the humans were victorious. The monsters suffered far more casualties, and though humans were killed, not a single one of their souls was taken or absorbed by monsters. During the battle, seven human souls had been saved and secured by other humans from splitting apart after they’d been killed. The remaining monsters on the battlefield and in the kingdom were gathered together into one spot, and seven were picked out. The souls of the seven humans were forced into the bodies of the seven monsters, and with the great power it gave them, the human souls took control of the monsters’ bodies. The humans used the monsters’ magic to cast a spell that sealed the monsters underneath the mountain. Terrified and dismayed, the monsters could not save the human souls as they split apart and disappeared. The monsters hosting the souls perished along with them. Centuries have since passed. Legends say that those who climb the mountain never return."
