i will always love you

Summary:

“Weird…” jihoon muttered to himself as he stood up and paid for their drinks. Hanjin sat on a bench near the bus stop on the verge of tears, he really fucked up with the person he loved the most and even their close friends started noticing too.

Notes:

Y'all didn't know this maybe but i looooove jaezhen soooo much, we're such a small community and there's not enough jaezhen fics.

Work Text:

“What's wrong with you two?” Jihoon asked curiously as he was sipping his drink. Hanjin shifted uncomfortably beside him, probably not ready to talk about the topic that Jihoon was bringing up.

“Nothing much” he said, his mind completely in shambles at the slightest thought of the person he had fought with 3 days ago. It wasn't even a fight, but something did happen and that made them drift away from eachother.

“Hanjinnnnn” jihoon whined, wanting to know everything that happened between his best friends, but Hanjin didn't want to say anything, he just stared ahead like that would suddenly fix everything. But in reality it only made his thoughts come at a louder and faster pace. “I'm leaving” he announced, picking up his things and going through the door.

“Weird…” jihoon muttered to himself as he stood up and paid for their drinks. Hanjin sat on a bench near the bus stop on the verge of tears, he really fucked up with the person he loved the most and even their close friends started noticing too.

He slowly got into the bus and leaned on the window thinking about how it all happened. He remembers entering their dorm room after an exhausting college day. He had two 3 hour lectures and was honestly done with everything. Youngjae was in the kitchen finishing his dinner and he called Hanjin to eat. After they ate, Hanjin just sprawled on the sofa wanting to fall asleep as soon as possible.

“Hanjin, can you do the dishes?” Youngjae asked gently, knowing well that Hanjin was exhausted. They were boyfriends for a very long time after all, they knew how to read the other without much struggle. “I'm pretty exhausted, I'll maybe do it tonight” he said, voice already preparing for a nap. “You always say you'll maybe do it and then you leave it here, at least say you won't for God's sake” the tone in which Youngjae said that wasn't pleasant at all, Hanjin knew Youngjae was annoyed.

“I'm sorry..” he muttered, feeling very small. “Don't be sorry and actually do something” now Youngjae's voice was straight up frustrated, something he rarely let anyone hear. “I literally just came back from two 3 hour lessons at least let me rest a bit?” Hanjin said, his tone starting to get frustrated as well. “You think that i didn't just come back from a solo presentation and a 3 hour lecture and immediately started making dinner, when it comes to pleasing you, i always do it but when it comes to doing something that makes me happy, you're always tired, thank you, really, thank you” Youngjae said, his voice returning its calmness which made everything sting a little bit harder, but Hanjin knew Youngjae was 100% right. And that was the worst part.

Dohoon ran up to Youngjae after seeing him alone in the café near their campus for the 14th time this month. “What's wrong with you and Hanjin?” He asked, not trying to be nosy but honestly in true Dohoon fashion, he wanted to know every single detail there is.

“Nothing, we just had a little fight” he said, keeping his eyes straight ahead. “A little fight doesn't last 12 days” Dohoon said and Youngjae knew he was right, but he wouldn't apologise to Hanjin until Hanjin comes first.

“I just need time, I'm still not ready to see him, not until he apologises” Youngjae said, standing his ground. He was never the person that kept chasing. If Hanjin didn't want to apologise, he'll just leave him quietly, it was that easy for Youngjae. “But what did he do that he needs to apologise for?” Dohoon asked. “I'm not telling anything to your nosy ass, the whole campus would know it before everything leaves my mouth, so no blubber mouth I'm not telling anything to you” Youngjae stood up and left coldly.

 …

“Jihoon, I'm surprising myself here but i need serious relationship advice” Hanjin said, never feeling as embarrassed. “Oh my God, the moment I've been waiting for ever since you came here has finally come!” Jihoon shrieked.

“What's the problem about?” He asked, suddenly turning very serious. “Me and Youngjae fought, I'm completely at fault and i have no idea how to fix it” he said, his face wearing that tired look he had ever since they fought.

“So, you go to him and apologise, very easy. You just say ‘Youngjae, my love, i am very sorry. It's nothing hard” Jihoon said, and suddenly it clicked in Hanjin's head, it really wasn't that hard if you loved the person very much. But he still couldn't face Youngjae, so he had been staying at Junghwan's for the 12 days that they have been in a fight.

….

The next day arrived faster than he thought. He woke up still not familiar with Junghwan's guest room. It reminded him of the first time he woke up in their dorm room, Youngjae's arms were wrapped around him as he sleepily muttered “good morning baby” Hanjin completely melted at that and honestly he missed Youngjae so much. So he needed to get his shit together as soon as possible so he can be with Youngjae again.

“Good morning Hanjin” Junghwan said with his soft smile and brought him a fresh cup of chamomile tea - his favourite. “Thank you, you didn't need to” he said, feeling the warmth of the tea spreading throughout his lungs the same way his heart would feel when he was next to Youngjae. He sat on that bed for longer than needed. Just thinking, thinking about everything and nothing at the same time.

He just wanted to get Youngjae again. But how can he look Youngjae in the eye when he knows he had been giving Youngjae to do all of his work when Youngjae already did the work he's supposed to. He has been exhausting Youngjae more than necessary just because he's too lazy to do anything. And when Youngjae pointed that out, he knew Youngjae was right, he just wishes he had seen it earlier.

So he came back to their dorm room to properly apologise to Youngjae. He softly knocked on the door and immediately when Youngjae opened, he started apologising. “Youngjae, I'm so sorry for being a jerk to you. I'm so sorry for my lazy ass and dumping all my portions of work on you. I'm really sorry for not apologising earlier, but i just couldn't look you in the eyes until i decided to do something about it. Maybe this apology isn't what you hoped for, but it's the most i can do right now. Please forgive me and let's not fight anymore.” He stood in front of Youngjae, pleading for forgiveness.

Youngjae just smiled and pulled Hanjin in a soft hug. “Zhen, i wasn't even mad at you, i just wanted you to understand how I've been feeling. Just you coming to apologise is more than enough, please don't leave me anymore, it was very lonely without you silly.” Youngjae said, looking at Hanjin with so much fondness he could burst out.

“So you love me again?” Hanjin asked, his voice small, barely audible. “What kind of question is that even, of course Hanjin, I'll always love you, don't even worry about that. Worry about the exams that are soon”

“Oh fuck” Hanjin said as Youngjae laughed out loud behind him and kissed him.
