Chapter Text
He took a deep breath. He rang the door bell.
Paul opened, Estelle on his hip. "Percy? Come in! What happened?" He shouted in "Honey, Percy's home!"
Sally came rushing over, her hands and apron covered in flour. She saw the tears on his face.
"Oh baby, whats's wrong?"
He rushed in and gave her a hug. "I'm home."
Sally carefully lead him to the couch. Estelle climbed onto his lap. She used her tiny toddler hands to wipe the tears of big brother's face. He gave her a weak smile. He looked at his mother. "Annabeth. It's over."
Ping! Percy looks on his phone. It's a text message from Annabeth.
”Hi, where are you? I don't feel like cooking today. Is Thai take out ok?"
Frustrated, he throws down his phone. She had already forgotten that he had left. Or maybe she hadn't heard him in the first place.
Sally picks up the phone and puts it away. "Do you want me to call Annabeth, to let her know you're here?"
Percy nodded. Paul handed him a mug of tea. "Take your time, boy."
"I don't get it! Didn't she see it? Didn't she notice at all?"
”I don't think she was trying to hurt you, sweetie. She simply couln't give you what you needed. It can happen to the best."
Sally decided to call Annabeth.
"Percy?"
"Hi dear, Its me Sally."
"Sally?"
"I'm calling to let you know that Percy is here."
"Oh, ok. When's he coming back?
"
”He isn't coming back, honey."
"But-"
"Percy stays here."
At that moment her eyes fell on the letter that Percy had left her.
”Oh. Thanks for calling."
Annabeth looked at the sheet of paper on the kitchen table. Percy's letter. Percy hated writing letters. The letter was covered in Ink blotches, smears, spelling errors and crossed out words. She could easily picture Percy trying to write this letter for hours.
Dear Annabeth,
This morning, I broke up with you. I'm not sure wether or not you've heard me, so now I'm writing it down.
I can't do it anymore. Studying. Our relationship. It's all too much. Too many assignments. Too many exams. Too much everything.
I'm assuming that you were struggling too. And you were dealing with it in your own way.
I wanted to be there for you. But I also needed you to be there for me. And you weren't. Not enough.
I'm sorry Annabeth. I wish you All the best.
Percy
