UCoP - Camp Arrival

Summary:

So I was reading Unexpected Child of Prophecy (it's adorable btw, you should totally go read it) and I thought to myself 'I really want to see what happens when their daughter gets to camp' and then I realised 'oh wait, I can write that!'.

So here we are!

Notes:

I feel I should mention things that happen in the original fic to catch people up here, and also where I'm starting from.
1) Estelle is fully aware of her parentage by the time she makes it to camp. She didn't know while at Yancy, but she did tell her mom(s) about the fates (no Alecto) and they told her everything on the way to Long Island. Estelle has also been instructed not to tell people about her mom until she is officially claimed.
2) Sally and Hestia are married, and as such Hestia has been living with them.
3) While Estelle's powers are very strong, they also mostly aren't water related (I'm saying she inherited some things, mainly water breathing, but nothing major from Sally's side of the family). I don't know if this will come up, but I'm saying her powers are: she can summon fire which either heals or burns, her cooking is delicious and acts like lembas bread got soaked in various beneficial potions (strength, speed, regen, etc) and a few other minor things like a skill in certain crafts (pottery, weaving) and public speaking.
4) Estelle was conceived via a marriage ritual performed by Hecate, so as to not interfere with either Ace!Sally or Maiden Hestia
5) I am of the firm belief that all the gods are vaguely terrified of Hestia and, by extension, Estelle. Estelle is, however, a cinnamon roll that is universally adored by everyone she meets. As such all the gods will trip over each other in order to do what she says. :) Also she can stay in literally any cabin she wants, since they are all homes and thus Hestia is the patron.

Work Text:

Camp was going well until I knocked a god off his chair.

I awoke as I always do, feeling rested and relaxed. A blond girl was waiting there for me.

'Oh good, you're awake. Chiron wants to meet you as soon as possible.'

'Ah yes, let's go then.'

Chiron, as it turned out, was playing Pinochle with a guy I assumed was Dionysus - based on what Mama said - and Grover. And Chiron was Mr Brunner. So there was that.

'Hey Grover.'

'Hay? Where?'

'What?' I was very confused.

'Oh, I was making a goat pun, since, you know, satyr. Sorry. Won't do it again.' Grover looked fairly apologetic.

'No, it's fine - albeit unexpected. I don't know that I've ever heard you make a pun before.'

'Well all of my puns are sat-' He was cut off by Dionysus clearing his throat.

'Are you going to stand there all day, Miss Jackson, or are you going to play.'

'I'm afraid I don't know the rules, my Lord, though I'd be happy to learn.' Dionysus raised a brow at my address but looked pleased nonetheless.

'Annabeth,' Chiron called to the blond girl, 'Annabeth my dear, we'll be putting Estelle in cabin 11 for now, so find her a space will you?'

'Sure Chiron. Will do!' The girl who escorted me here yells over her shoulder as she runs off.

'Now then, Estelle, let's take a walk, shall we?' Chiron got out of his chair and set off. I had to jog to keep up. 'How much did your mother tell you?'

'Pretty much everything, although I could use a tour.'

'Ah, then do you know who your Godly father is?'

'Wait, what? No, no no no no!'

'Ah, then she didn't tell you as much as you thought. I'll ask Annabeth to explain in more detail.'

'Wait, that's not what I... and he's gone. Oh well.' Chiron galloped into the middle distance.

I made my way to the hearth in the centre of the cabins, only to be full body tackled by a short blonde... Annabeth?

'Why?' I whined miserably, feeling squashed and bruised from where she fell on me.

'No matter how godly your dad is you cannot just touch Hestia's fire like that! Not only because you'll be burned, but also because of the disrespect.'

'No, I still don't have a godly father.'

'Yes you do, you're a half blood, clue is in the name, half mortal and half god.'

'That isn't the part of the statement I was having trouble with.'

'Oh?'

'As I was trying to explain to Chiron before he cantered off, I know I have a godly parent, they just aren't my dad.'

'But you have a mortal mom?'

'I have two moms. My mother, Sally Jackson is mortal as anything... mostly. Ok she IS a legacy, but whatever. My mama is... well I'm actually not allowed to say but she IS a goddess.'

'Huh.'

'You ok?'

'Just processing...'

'Fair enough... can you let me up now?' Annabeth blushed heavily as she got off.

A girl from the Ares cabin tried to 'initiate' me. She didn't get very far before I set myself on fire. I didn't mean too, so that's cool, (It's actually very hot, my brain informed me unhelpfully.) and it's also really hard to bully someone who is actively on fire, if for no other reason than it would hurt to touch them. Clarisse looked at me with a newfound respect after that. I smiled pleasantly at her before setting off with Annabeth, who was looking at me disgruntledly. The tour was fun.

That night people were kinda surprised when I knew to sacrifice food to the gods before being instructed.

Foot racing was terrible, and the only reason I didn't get pulverised in wrestling was because I kept instinctually setting myself on fire. Sword fighting was fun though. As was pottery, although I don't really see how that's a useful skill in this line of work. When I asked about it Chiron said it's good for mental health.

At capture the flag I did reasonably well (for being bait) and discovered that my fire burns underwater. And hellhounds. Of course, that was when Mama decided to claim me.

'Wait, what symbol is that?' Annabeth asked. She wasn't wrong, frozen fire wasn't a typical symbol associated with a god. Or anything, for that matter. Then Dionysus fell off his seat from where he was watching the game.

'You never told me you were THAT Jackson!' he yelled. People were starting to be very unnerved.

I decided to take pity on them: 'My mama is Hestia. She gave my mother a crown with frozen fires to wear at their wedding, hence the symbol.' Surprisingly, this did not seem to help most people.

'WHAT?!' I'm pretty sure all of New York heard the shocked cry.
