Invitations - Vyper

Summary:

Continuation of the story from the start of the Silver story.

Work Text:

ONE YEAR, TWENTY DAYS BEFORE THE RITUAL

Vyper sat outside a hotel in Connecticut that she had tracked Lilah Silver down to. The Connecticut state police had contacted Silver to hunt down Vyper to send her away for good. Vyper knew the next place she'd end up was Lost Whisper. She had to get the jump on Silver so she could get a head start in the next chase. Vyper is a gorgon with the ability to turn someone to stone. The only problem was since her dad was a regular guy from Wisconsin she couldn't keep them that way. She had trained herself to not require eye contact though, she was very proud of it. Silver walked through the door, but began walking towards the city. They were in a very rural spot at the time. The place had about three buildings and 18 farms. Silver didn't seem to be focused on hunting at the time, which Vyper found very confusing. Vyper snuck behind the hotel and into the thicket Silver was walking through.

Around an hour into walking, Vyper had made it far ahead of Silver and hadn't been caught yet. Silver's legs became heavy, Vyper was glaring through her. Vyper slithered up to Lilah and checked her for the arrest papers she'd been given, if they were there. Vyper grabbed an envelope and booked it.

Once V knew she was safe, she ripped it open. It was fancy and Vyper loved the way it smelled. She froze reading it.

Vyper, you've been running your entire life. You'll need to settle down someday. Help me and all of your past sins will be forgiven. We've forgiven you for what you've done to us already.

Vyper recognized the seal at the bottom of the letter, The Baroness. She was banned from it several years back for a scuffle in the lobby. New York wasn't too far for her. She was more confused why Silver had a note meant for her.

She had nothing better to do. This is the first help she'd been offered in a long time too. Plus the New York state police didn't hate her as much.
