Work Text:
For things to be lost they must first be owned.
But the opposite isn’t true.
If things are lost, they are not always found.
Hope is a foolish thing in the Home of Lost Things.
Hope that maybe one day, they’ll be found by those who might miss them.
Anything that is lost ends up here.
Keys, pens, erasers, staples, rings, toys, books, and of course
creatures.
‘Creatures’ is what we are. What we call ourselves, the ones who have been here long enough that they’ve gained
consciousness.
‘Creatures’, is a term we use to pretend that we have meaning, purpose.
We don’t.
We are mistakes. We are ruined.
We are lost.
And we beg of you to remember us.
