Chapter Text

The door swung open. Heat from the house dissipating within the blizzard, Akito stepped out fully covered in winter clothing. Didn't expect a sudden spike in temperature, so be it. Don't attempt to trample on the spiky ice on the floor, else a flurry of shards will erupt like a landmine.

Careful movements, slow and steady wins the race. Right? As long as he doesn't convert into an ice cube before reaching cover then he'll survive, if only that cover wasn't a football field away. Geez, maybe try going out when the blizzard subsided.

At least you won't be frozen solid while traversing through this concrete jungle.

But he already committed, no point in stopping now. Run with as much speed as you could muster, before General Winter sends out the frostbite. Before the March of the snow would bury you beneath their boots, and before the pellets of ice knock you unconscious.

He ran. The ginger hair swaying for every step he takes. But sometimes it isn't nature who'll stop your advance to the objective. If only one would commit so much to sacrifice to the point that one's form would break, I'm afraid that no amount of morale would even allow that one to do what's necessary.

"Damned pyromaniac."

I swear those words came out of my mouth when I saw that thing approach me.

That thing, whatever it is. It isn't human — or well, no longer human. Being able to see in that blinding gas mask and being able to even breath in one without suffocating? Maybe he's a demon at this point, no human can withstand such heat without becoming a charred corpse.

That thing dragged a fire axe with it, the sound of its blade scratching on the pavement like metal being dragged on the floor. It's ominous breathing as it takes a step forward for every step I run, as it grows faster and faster for every breath I take.

Is this my demise?

Will I die a death that's basked in fire?

Will I be like the charred corpses of my friends that given their lives to me?

What is all worth all the trouble running away?

Whatever, I'll shake those thoughts away while running across the street. Whatever hell I'm in, I'll survive for as long as I can. Knowing that I'll only have to repeat this over and over until I lose my mind like I'm running in circles forever and forever until forever.

Until I hear something snap on the ground.

No..

I feel my legs drop, no amount of adrenaline would help me out of this bear trap. It's grip is ensnaring me as it got my right leg on it's barb. I could see the blood gushing out my foot, it's all so red and sickening like it's trying to eat me alive.

What worse is that, I see that thing behind me. I could see it stop, I could see those burning eyes behind the visor, such an inferno staring down on me with eyes full of fury.

Through those eyes that want me dead.

I saw it swing that fiery axe upwards.

Goodbye world.
