Work Text:
It was one of November’s coldest nights when Pedri was snuggled in his sofa, wrapped in a heavy warm blanket, flicking through the channels looking for something to watch, torn between starting the series Gavi had suggested a week ago or rewatching their latest game — something he hardly ever did.
He ended up switching the TV off and grabbing his phone, going through TikTok, hoping sleep would reach his eyelids. But his algorithm wasn’t helping and decided otherwise.
He stopped at an edit of him and his best friend Ferran. It was very much their clips —during training sessions , pitch inspections before any game, or even media duties .edited and set to romantic, slow, emotional lyrics, not very friendly, highlighting the proximity between him and the person with whom he had shared five-years of friendship up until now , their stolen glaces at each other, their small touches, the way they’d always find each other’s side and the shared carefulness and love they had for one another.
Tossing any inappropriate ideas aside, it seemed unfair to fantasize about the person who considered him like a brother. He didn’t want to end up losing the one person he felt closest to — it wasn’t worth the risk. He would much rather have him close as his best friend than not at all
He had never looked at it that way. Not much more. He was more settled into the comfortable contact, even if he undeniably always had a crush on him, but he always chose not to look much into it and ignored the tension between them, assuming his best friend was straight and not wanting to put him in an uncomfortable situation or cross boundaries he had never dared to go beyond. Afraid of ruining their friendship or whatever relationship was going on between them.
He decided to check the comments, and to his surprise, most people were supportive of the idea of them actually dating , even using a ship name for them
An hour later, he was lost in someone’s ship account, making sure not to like anything, not risking getting caught stalking. Very much romantic edits of him and Ferran. Guilt spreading into him. closing the app in a blink of an eye, in a hurry, as if someone had caught him watching gay porn in public.
He then decided, without thinking, to call Ferran, not sure it was a great idea. Not even sure what he was calling for.
The phone rang.
His heart was beating so fast — not in his habit. What the fuck was going on with him?
Ferran picked up immediately.
Pedri panicked, not preparing anything to say, as if he hadn’t called him a thousand times before, having flashbacks of calling his high school crush for the very first time.
“PEPII!!,” Ferran said excitedly. “I was JUST about to call you. I’ve always known you were my one and only soulmate.”
Pedri froze for a second, completely caught off guard.
Was Ferran always this flirtatious? Or was his mind playing tricks on him? Or was he just… horny?
He swallowed, still confused.
“Ferran, I… I was hoping you could come over and maybe just hang out. I’m alone and Fer’s plane isn’t arriving until tomorrow morning.”
Pedri expected Ferran to dismiss the invite. He was probably busy doing something more important than answering a random call and entertaining his sudden request. He probably had much more interesting plans than daydreaming about how much he was physically attracted to his best friend.
But Ferran replied without hesitation:
“If you let me beat your ass at FIFA — not that I wouldn’t still beat you regardless,” Ferran said teasingly.
Pedri was grateful for the light joke. Heat curled up at his neck as he tossed the suffocating blanket away from him.
“I’ll think about it, if you behave?” Pedri said.
“Mhm… I’ll think about it!” Ferran replied
A few minutes later, he almost stumbled at the hard knocking on the door, rushing to open it.
Why was he so excited? and why was he checking himself out in the mirror next to the front door? Ferran had been at his house more times than he could count.
He welcomed him in with a warm hug, as he always did, motioning for him to go further into the house with him. In his hands, he held two bags of takeaway food — croquetas, Pedri’s favorite food!.
“Well, it’s nowhere near your mother’s, but you can manage until they come back from Tenerife,” Ferran said.with a wink
Had he always been this thoughtful?
Pedri felt a warm feeling in his chest, gesturing for him to take a seat on the sofa, taking the food from his hands as their fingers brushed.
Maybe it would have been better if he had changed into something lighter. He really needed to cool down, and Ferri showing up looking this handsome wasn’t on his list of expectations. He didn’t seem to want to stop surprising him either.
Ferran, however, proceeded to be such a flirt, . He was such a menace.
Ferran seemed to notice the shift in energy. He knew Pedri like the back of his hand and could tell exactly when his pepi was feeling out of place or acting out of habit.
Pedri dismissed his worried look on his face swearing he was doing just fine, only missing his family. Ferran decided not to push and respect his boundaries. Sometimes, he just knew when to stop teasing. After all the years spent close to the younger boy, he knew him better than he knew himself at this point.
After a few moments, they settled into a familiar, comfortable, quiet atmosphere, enjoying their food, not paying much attention to what was going on beyond their little bubble. Pedri kept glancing at him from time to time, not really helping himself not to. More like staring at his lips, focusing on the small details of his face he had never cared enough to stare at before. There was something different about him tonight. Maybe Pedri was actually going crazy.
He was really acting weird. It wouldn’t take a close one to notice his strange behavior. And Ferran was basically convinced that Pedri missing his family sometimes turned him into an unrecognizable person. He always knew he had been such a mama’s little boy.
After a while, they cleaned up the table, moving almost on autopilot. Something always felt right about them existing in each other’s comfort zone and living so close to one another’s personal space, to the point that nobody around them — neither friends nor family — questioned their closeness or overthought their need for one another anymore. It was unquestionable at this point. People had simply gotten used to it. They both settled on the sofa, each one now holding his controller, focused expressions on both their faces, each determined to beat the other, while Pedri was probably zoning out more than he should tonight.
After a few rounds of FIFA, Pedri, despite his unusual behavior earlier, was acting pretty much unbothered by Ferran clearly destroying him at his own game, in his own house.
Of course, Ferran was making a whole scene out of it, calling it a humiliation to the magician.
But when he noticed the unbothered look on his best friend’s face, he decided to just drop it and stop bragging about his victories and how he had absolutely dominated the little competitive midfielder. A few minutes stretched when Pedri decided to shamelessly suggest a better plan that had been circling his mind nonstop.
Since when was he this brave to ask for what he always wanted?
“Ferran… can we cuddle?” he said.
“Please,” Pedri added quickly in the middle, looking at him with doe eyes, pouting slightly.
He knew Ferran could go to war for that expression of his and it had worked more than once before.
Ferran was caught off guard for a moment, a look of consideration taking over his face. Pedri always seemed to notice the size difference between them and found it a bit overwhelming at times.
“Sure, come here.”
Ferran agreed, not digging too much into it, assuming Pedri was just feeling a bit lonely and needy. He was always this cuddly when he stayed away from his family for a while. And he would’ve been a fool to turn down such a request.
Ferran settled on the sofa, opening his arms for the younger boy to settle on his chest.
Both of them got familiar with the proximity, their legs tangled together, the game long forgotten in the background.
Pedri had his head on Ferran’s right side, his right hand gently above his chest, feeling the steady beating underneath his palm. It felt faster — or was he just imagining it? Not like he could focus anytime he was this close to the older boy. He could never focus whenever he was this close to him.
Ferran absentmindedly traced circles against his back in slow motions before bringing his hand up to his curls, running his fingers through. He used his other hand to hold him in place . the closest they had ever gotten.
Pedri’s breathing turned uneven.
Not that he could control it. Not sure where he got the courage from , whether it was bravery or just the closeness clouding his mind — he stopped trusting his own movements.
He took Ferran’s hand in his and guided it underneath the heavy hoodie he was wearing.
He really wanted out of this thing.
Ferran’s palm met his soft, warm skin, stiff at first, but then he continued his movements more confidently, grabbing at his waist firm enough to bruise . earning a soft whimper from the younger boy’s mouth, not even caring enough to feel embarrassed about it. Pedri melted into the familiar yet new touch, tossing his thoughts away. He could enjoy it for a few moments before Ferran could even decide to free himself from his best friend — who was now half climbing into him desperately like a koala.
To his surprise, Ferran moved in a swift motion he barely even had time to process.
In an instant, he had his body pressed into the sofa, Ferran right above him, straddling him, supporting himself on his elbows, staring at Pedri with a starved expression. Pedri, not sure what he was doing, brought his hand up and grabbed Ferran’s longer hair in a fist. Ferran buried his face in his neck, letting out a long, heavy sigh, mumbling, “You drive me insane, Pepi.”
Pedri, not trusting his own thoughts, not even sure he was living reality at that moment, just left a trembling kiss on top of his head, resting against his hair.
Ferran pressed himself even more into the contact, heat rising between them, impossible to ignore.
Ferran lifted his head, his face so close to Pedri’s only a few inches away looking at him hungrily, intense eye contact shared between the two
When Pedri was about to say something — or was he? Not even sure — Ferran closed the small distance left between them pressing his lips against his, tasting his sweetness ,taking him in completely ,He pulled back for a few moments, expecting some sort of rejection, searching his best friend’s face for any look of regret. He found none. instead Only a broken sound leaving pedri’s throat as he pulled him back down, gripping his hair, not worrying if he was gentle enough or not.
Ferran wasn’t fighting back. He didn’t bother to deepen the kiss this time, instead exploring around his jaw and chin, leaving everything warm and wet between them.
Now that he finally had him, there was no point in turning back.
This felt like a dream come true for both of them. The kiss grew more aggressively intense, as if they had been starved for years, the eagerness more and more apparent The way Ferran took his wet lips into his was enough proof that he wanted him just as much.
Ferran didn’t hold back, putting all his weight on top of him now, using his hands to cup Pedri’s face in his much bigger palms.
He kept going back and forth, kissing along his jaw, while Pedri kept letting out satisfied moans, which seemed to give Ferran more confidence to continue, sucking and nibbling at his wet skin.
Now their tongues fought for dominance, clumsy and messy, neither of them willing to give in, nor willing to stop. This must be heaven.
A few minutes more of them making out, both of them getting out of breath, Ferran managed to pull back slightly, not sure what to say
Pedri was flushed underneath him, the rosy blush spreading across his face. Ferran had been obsessing over it for years now, and the thought that he had caused it this time was just amazing to see, turning him on even more.
His mind was blank. Ferran seemed to have sucked every thought out of him, leaving him completely senseless There was a moment of silence between them — just staring at each other, taking each other in completely.
Then he just said the first thing that came to his mind, not bothering to think twice.
“Did you know there is a TikTok account with our ship name?”
He regretted it the moment the words left his mouth. Embarrassment was so obvious on his face, expecting Ferran to just throw him on the other side of the room for ruining the moment.
He must think he’s a freak, spending his free time drooling over him and their edits. He must be disgusted. Instead, Ferran just burst out laughing, unable to hold back the chuckles leaving his body.
Pedri was so confused, staring at him as if he couldn’t decide whether to be more embarrassed or more confused by the fact that Ferran didn’t react the way he expected. Ferran shook his head slightly, amusement taking over his facial expression, still smiling, eyes soft as he looked down at him like he was something fragile and ridiculous at the same time.
“We really need to get you out of this hoodie,” He muttered under his breath, barely hiding how much he was enjoying this.
Before Pedri could even process what he meant, Ferran was already leaning in again, swallowing whatever reply he had with another kiss.
Slower this time, like he had all the time in the world.
Whatever Pedri was about to say faded immediately, lost somewhere at the back of his mind, thoughts slipping away under his touch, feeling his own bones dissolve into liquid.
