“You know those mangy cats in the Alley? The ones with a shredded ear and only one eye? They follow you home one night and you let them in because it's snowing outside. You give them food because you're not a monster, and before you know it they've adopted you and you're buying them the comfiest cat bed you can find because they're the nicest thing that has ever happened to you? Well, that's you. You're the cat.”

Tim blinks. “What?”

“You took my scent, you put yourself under my protection. That means I'm gonna take care of you even if I have to trick you into a carrier box so you can get your shots.”
