Work Text:
What had started off as a planning session to kill MR quickly devolved when Mach decided to bring out a couple of edibles. As of right now, they were both staring up at the ceiling, Mach ranting about her past.
Not like Folly hadn’t already seen glimpses of Mach’s trauma in her nightmares. No harm in telling the rest.
She could regret it later when she was sober.
Mach finally ended her tangent with, “And, yeah, that’s how my siblings died.”
Now finished with her retelling, she turned to look at Folly.
“What about you? You’ve always looked to me like you had some sort of tragic past.”
Folly huffed and deliberately turned her head to the opposite side. She was very clearly defensive, but her voice was less sharp than usual, “As if I’d share my weaknesses with you, purple wretch.”
Mach shrugged and went back to staring at the ceiling. If Folly didn’t feel like sharing, that was her prerogative.
Not her problem.
“Whatever you say. I’m not forcing you to do anything.”
They fell back into silence.
It lasted maybe five seconds before Mach felt it was too awkward and broke it again, “I got a Nintendo Switch from my employers recently. You ever play Mario Kart?”
Folly sat up and looked at her with annoyance.
“I don’t play such feeble games,” She denied.
…And then caved.
“Though I am curious as to what ‘Mario Kart’ is.”
Mach pushed herself off of the floor and dusted herself off, “You wait here, I’m gonna go grab it. Be right back.”
About ten minutes later, they were already arguing about whether or not using glitches was considered cheating
“If they weren’t meant to be used, they wouldn’t have left them in the game, dude.”
“See but that doesn’t mean you should use your, frankly unhelpful, useless, knowledge of the game against me!”
“If it was useless, you wouldn’t be so pissed right now. Hehe.”
“WhatEVER, you’re horrid and I never should have come here.”
They didn’t end up playing for very long.
