Mike groans, stirring awake. A pesky ray of sunshine gleams through a crack in the curtains, waking his consciousness and subsequently bringing back feeling to his body. Mike scrunches up his face and tries to stretch out his body, only to be stopped, his movements limited by the familiar weight of a body draped over his chest.
There's a tickle under his chin that makes him finally crack an eye open, and look down. He's greeted by a most wonderous sight—Will tucked onto his side, arm draped over his torso, head nuzzled right under Mike's chin and in the crook of his neck.
His heart kicks up and begins to beat right out of his chest.
He takes a deep breath, inhaling a lungful of Will's scent and hums contentedly. He squeezes Will's body, pressing him impossibly closer and resisting the urge to scream.
Will in turn hums in annoyance and nuzzles deeper into Mike's embrace.
"Did I disturb my sleepy Bun?" Mike whispers, voice hoarse with sleep. Will hums, scrunching up his nose before peering up at Mike with a sleepy gaze. "Hi baby" Mike presses a kiss to Will's forehead and beams a smile at him.
"Hi, baby" Will mumbles, eyes crinkling with happiness as he smiles up at Mike. He leans up to press a kiss to the side of Mike's throat and hums, breathing in his sleep rumpled scent. Mike chuckles and throws his free arm over Will, pulling him flush against him. "Your heart's beating so fast" Will giggles, rubbing his arms up and down Mike's back, pressing his ear closer to Mike's chest.
Mike laughs airily, with a hint of awe—"I've just woken up next to the love of my life, for the first time as my official husband"
"Husband" Will says in awe, giggling and hurrying his face further into Mike's chest.
"Husband!" Mike reiterates with excitement, "I am so happy, my heart could quite literally burst right out of my chest from how full and content it feels"
Will flushes crimson as he bites down a smile.
"I can't wait to wake up next to you for the rest of our lives" Will tells him, pressing his cheek back to Mike's chest and squeezing him in a hug.
"Me too baby, me too"
