Chapter Text
I'm running again.
Faster than I've ever ran before.
Racing through the woods of crooked, mangled tree trunks and over-plentiful bramble bushes, I couldn't feel anything other than the fear whispering in the back of my mind. Surrounding me are dark, looming shadows, dancing in the corner of my eye. I instantly realized they were dancing to the song of the hunt, but not the one I knew, not the one that usually followed me.
But I would, soon.
My heart pounded in my ears while the snapping of branches echoed closer. Dread flooded through my veins as my muscles' strength started to sap and ache.
I couldn't run much longer, that much I knew.
Slowing to a jog, I looked up to the sky, only to see twisted branches entwined into a forest roof, the only light being slight beams of pale sunlight. Then, as a thundering ball of silver sped towards me, time seemed to slow, the air becoming as thick as mud.
I couldn't move fast enough.
As it passed through me, and the metallic bite of blood filled my mouth, I closed my eyes. And cried.
I wish, I wish, that I could have seen the sky one last time before I died.
