Work Text:
"Nearly done, just give me five more..."
Pip trailed off, her finger slid down the mouse pad as she read through her comment section. She snorted.
"Love the podcast. I feel like pip would kinda exhausting to know IRL tho. 4/5 stars" she read aloud, not turning from her laptop screen.
"What do think? Am I exhausting you?".
No response.
Actually, come to think of it, it had been some time since Ravi had said anything. Pip spun around on her chair, accusations of not listening dying in her throat.
Ravi lay curled on his side, on top of her fully made bed, mouth slightly ajar and face smooshed into her pillow. Fast asleep. It was pretty unsurprising, given the hours he'd been working recently. She couldn't remember the last time he'd gotten up after the sun. She could feel her own features softening as she gazed at him.
With a stretch she rose from her chair and padded over to him, reaching for the quilt she kept folded on the foot of the bed. Quietly, she draped it over his sleeping form, smoothing it down over his back. For a moment Pip allowed her palm to linger on his shoulder. It seemed these days that her body buzzed to touch him in some capacity. Her fingers itched to be laced through his, to run through his hair, to cup his jaw.
But she had work to do. Reluctantly Pip returned to her desk and tried to let the rhythmic tapping of her fingers on the keyboard take over her thoughts. It was no used. She snapped her laptop shut again.
Ravi slept on peacefully.
Pip crouched next to the bedside, eye level with Ravi's sleeping face. Sometimes when she looked at him up close like this, she was hit in the face with the intensity of her feelings for him. This was one of those moments as she took in those thick, dark eyelashes, so long that they rested flush against his cheek. The curve of his lip, the dip in his chin, all as familiar to her as her own face.
She reached out a hand and ran it along his arm, shaking him gently as she did. His eyelids fluttered open and he blinked at her in surprise.
"Hey, trouble" he said sleepily, a lazy grin speading over his face.
His eyes crinkled. He was giving her that look. That look like she was the most special person in the world. And maybe when he looked at her she was the most special person in the world.
"Scoot over, would you?" She said, voice low.
He shuffled back obediently, lifting the blanket up to let her in.
Pip slid in next to him, her back pressed into his chest. His arms closed around her, bringing her even closer. She was enveloped by his warmth and his familiar scent, the smell she had begun to associate with home. Breathing him in, she felt the tension leave her body, softening unconsciously into him.
She fit into his body perfectly, they were made to fit like this. Her head slotted in under his chin and their intertwined hands rested over her heart.
Ravi pressed a kiss into her hair, his warm lips lingered as he murmured,
"Cold feet".
"I know" she said, pressing them into his legs, thawing them with his body heat. "Horrible, isn't it?".
"The worst" he agreed, not pulling away. His voice was fading around the edges, already being pulled back into sleep.
