A little context for the set-up and allat for these stories au!
First things first: There is no current Mortal Kombat tournament happening, kinda a post-victory of earthrealms actually?
There are mixes of different games actual lore;
-Raiden is the protector of earthrealm
-Mileena and Kitana are actual sisters/mileena isn't just a clone
-Hanzo Hasashi is Scorpion
-Bi-han is Sub-Zero but Kuai Liang is present (in future fics Kuai might become Sub-Zero with Bi-Han becoming Noob Saibot)
In terms of actual story arcs it's more of a personal mix of having the original ideas of the first game/movie where it's Johnny, Sonya, Liu Kang, and unplanned Kano being chosen to fight for earth realm with Hanzo/Bi-Han not being involved fully
There will definitely be tweaks and a majority of it is just background knowledge that might not always connect? Mixes again of 1992/1995(movie)/9/X/11/1
Relationship wise it's definitely also a big mix on fannon vs cannon
Johnny was married to and had Cass by Sonya (carried by Sonya with a donor). , they get divorced and he ends up with Kenshi
Kenshi had his child by his wife, she was killed by the Yakuza and it was low-key his fault and he had to leave Takeda behind before he could come back with his family's blade
Mileena becomes queen with Tanya as her lover openly, Sindel is alive and well just has Mileena take the throne mk1 style
Kitana ends up falling in love with Liu Kang after the tournament and they just live their life together
Shao Kahn is dead for his actions in the tournament like mk1
Reiko so far isn't mentioned and any of the other characters in the series alongside him (I wish I could figure out something for Bo' Rai' Cho LMAO I love that guy but it is what it is)
Character wise I'll say the ones that are going to be a majority in these fics;
Johnny is older about in his late 30s- mid 40s, transman (adopted Cass), bros got some BPD
Kenshi is the same age range, lots of guilt and shame for leaving Takeda behind, not sure for future fics but he'll most likely have taken back Takeda from the Yakuza’s grip and Takeda has a hard time forgiving him and he is blind but it's known he can see with sento
Sonya (not in a lot probably) only really left Johnny because they fell out of love + a little bit of why Johnny's wife left in mk1 with him being so obsessed with his career
Raiden is just there kinda like a granted prayer, if he's needed desperately he'll show up for his champions but rarely that's a thing.
Liu Kang like said was just falls in love with Kitana after the tournament definitely goes back and forth from seeing Kitana in outworld and then being at the temple with all the monks
Kitana is still in the palace as a princess and does her duties as usual with her time with Liu Kang sprinkled in
I won't even lie? Based on the one ending in whichever game it was about Mileena having that flesh baby (idk LMAO) with Tanya she's gonna be a mom with her yayyy idk what I'll name that kid in the fics or what gender it'll be but we'll see, I'll update it sometime I spose
I like the idea that Tanya and Mileena had the kid biologically so I've always headcannoned Tanya as being trans + intersex. Like being assigned male and keeping those genitals but then transitioning into wanting to be a woman so she still has the parts and ability to make that baby with Mileena yaaay (if any intersex people have any good advice on being sensitive to those issues let me know! I obviously don't plan to sexualize her intersex body it's mostly just for lore sense of having a biological baby is all)
Sindel is a supportive mom, and amazing grandmother
Cass probably has a classic “you aren't my parent” tense relationship with Kenshi, loves Johnny but just wishes him and her mom were still together
Takeda doesn't necessarily hate kenshi for leaving him behind, at the end of it all he understands to a point- but if anything he's happy to have two parents again and doesn't hold anything against Kenshi and Johnny's relationship
I like to think I'll figure out a way to put Kung Lao in there but expect a more mk1 version of his character and not the actual THE great Kung Lao
Reptile/Syzoth I'd ALSO like to include at some point by we'll just have to see I do like the mk1 idea of him having shapeshifting abilities to his true form so we'll have to see like said
Smoke I like the mk9 idea that he's part of the Lin Kuei and close friend with Kuai Liang so I'll probably put those two in a romantic dynamic at some point
Might throw in Cyrax and Sektor pre-cyber so it's gonna be minor moments of them probably
Hanzo and Bi-Han are definitely gonna be a big majority of fics because I'm a diehard old head for Sub-Scorpion and I'm tired of seeing proship content in the tags 💔
It might change here and there but I have two ideas for Hanzo-
Either post finding out the truth about his family's murder and finally forgiving Sub-Zero, like mk9 if he didn't go through with killing him?
Or that he never had his family and just leads the Shirai Ryu peacefully
Both times we're keeping him as a transman 🤞
Bi-Han is either going to be some cold hearted killer or just yearns for Hanzo secretively
And then if he's Noob Saibot it might depend? Honestly if I do noob Saibot it'll divert with the Hanzo stuff and be stand-alone? Because Sub-Scorpion with Noob Saibot (as in just keeping Hanzo as scorpion) gotta be spicy for me too we're getting some t4t mlm content I cannot even lie to you gang and Hanzo will be reverent in that case
Some evil x evil enemies to lovers type shiiiii ohhhhh yeahhhhhhhhh
I think that covers it all? Any updates I'll add and I'll try to make an actual like story connection thing or whatever it's called back to this post, I'm not gonna have a full story just using this to go off of for any one shots and stuff yeah 👍

Look wise I just realized MAYBE I should say the differences?
as far as visuals I'd say the majority of characters are mk11 and mk1, besides maybe if I add a specific detail? like idk if a character touches another's face and feel like a specific thing or describe something like a body modification? you can go ahead and head cannon them as either or! (and people not included in the other game should match the one they are in ^^)
