Lights

Summary:

A goodbye under the fireworks.

Notes:

Genuinely hate that one. I was so hyped for the idea and I can't write something I like but it's already been two days I have to get on another drabble.

I'll do better next time. I promise.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Eyes locked into the sky, the two girls were cuddled up close to each other. The light exploded in the sky at each pop, creating colorful flowers of radiance. The lovely fireworks picked by Yoimiya was perfect for their last evening together.

Kokomi let her head fall on top of Mualani's. She was so happy to be here. With her. The air was just comfortable enough for their hearts to share some warm in the quiet of their world.

A certain sadness was still hanging around. It was the end of the week, and Mualani had to get back home tomorrow.. which meant they won't see the other for a long time and letters were not enough, but they both had responsibilities.

- I'm really glad I was able to come. To visit. To discover. To meet people. To see you.

Mualani slipped her arm around Kokomi's shoulders, lightly, lovingly.

- I'll miss you. I'm already searching for a time to take vacations too.

Kokomi kissed her. With her lips sweetly brushing first, before fully settling in. But Mualani kissed her cheek, her nose, so she chose her forehead, because she wanted to protect her so much, even though she wasn't weak in the slightest.

The fireworks became louder. The finale started. They watched again, but held the other close. They were alone here, and they kissed again. It wasn't rushed nor violent, but delicate and precious.

The loud popping in the sky never interrupt them. Pressing their foreheads together, Mualani had her eyes closed, unaware of Kokomi's adoring glaze.

And the silence fell with the last light, but it wasn't cold. Instead, it felt like a cocoon that had to be broken. Getting up, Kokomi lend her hand to Mualani, and they got back home in the lights of the stars.
