Bask in the depths of the void

Summary:

One of my first fics that i've uploaded onto AO3, SUPPERRR nervous about this, apologies if the writing ends up sloppy or just bad in general!

enjoy! ^_^

---------------

The repeating cycle, dodge, fail, die, return, rinse and repeat.
Why can't i just be free for once?
A sickening repitition for what?
Someone's sick amusement?
I know im tired.
I know everyone else is tired.

But,

Death is the only time where i could truly rest,
The only thing i'd chase other than theese damn gifts is rest
The only thing i'd chase down is death.

Chapter 1: Acquaintances.

Chapter Text

Spirit stared into the neverending-grey sky, how long was he in this place? Time wasn't visual, there wasn't a sun or moon gazing over everyone, the only place that truly lights up this place is the glow of the constellations in the sky. But better question, how long WILL he stay until the cycle of death and rebirth ends? does he go back into the real world? to die again? Nobody knew, everyone assumed their own Theories and guesses, but truly, none of them added up to make sense.

he turned back to the lobby, he saw everyone else chattering about everything else outside of the complaints of how merciless this place already is, diver and grappeler making up nonsensical stupid games to make time past by, glider trying to heal charger's wounds from the burns from the tripmines and entities
everyone was doing what they wanted, as if they're already adapted to this hell of a place, like a home.

In better words, They're already used to this hell.

Spirit never got the gist to this dimension ever since he got here, sure, he could get far without help, level 15 at his very best, But it was the pain before it was all shattered again, returned to the already expected loop. Each demise felt more piercing than the previous, revival feeling like he'd barely survived drowning by a gasp, he found it so strange for everyone else to get numbed by the repeating pain so quickly and easily.

He was always seen like a standout.

A weak standout.

"Hey- Hey!!" Wanted tugged his sleeve, trying to get any attention from him,
"I-..sorry, i must've found myself stranded in the webs of my own thoughts.." Spirit responded in shame
"Ah, i reckoned so." Wanted replied, crossing their arms "What's up with ya' fancy speak?"

"Er.. Apologies.. Used to is all." spirit fidgeted with his thumbs "Why did you approach me? do you need help with something perchance?"

"Ah..Right- Almost forgot, That one over there.. Prisoner i suppose? He can't speak.. he tries to communicate with his hands or whatev-"

"Sign language?"

Spirit asked , his voice firm but still showing a hint of curiosity

"..Yeah?..Could you maybe.. Try to find what he's trying to say eh?"

"I suppose so, I don't have anything planned to achieve before we start the round."

The duo walked up to prisoner, Leaning on a toppled bookshelf. His knees up to his chest, chains covered up his body, his only proper source of warmth, which'd get cold at some point, the only thing heating it back up is the comforting warmth of the beacon at the end of a round. scars and burns painting a horrific image on his already limping body, but last importantly, His head. it was a pitch black, Almost as if a void even, you could barely see a form of expression on his face, Which is fully obstructed, the only way to know how'd he feel is how his head would nod or tilt. his hair an absoulte abomination, looking like he hadnt touched a brush or any in weeks.

His head risen up to take a proper glance. slowly returning his head to the previous state.

Spirit sat on his knees, Trying his best to look formal.

"Hello, You must be prisoner correct?" He signed, it was clear he was experienced with sign language, an amatuer at best

Prisoners head perked up, he rose his hands to sign back
"It is suprising to find someone i can communicate with."

"I understand, lack of communication can affect ones mind."

wanted stared at both at the two, Confusion clearly painted on her face while the two wandered off into the conversation, their hands moving quicker than they could process

"uhm...Hello?." Wanted tried to get the other two's attention

"Ah- sorry, what did you ask for..again?" spirit's voice was low and calming, he got up his knees to stand up properly, prisoner's stared at the two, or atleast he looked like he was.

"I mean- It's great n' all ya' could talk fo him , i just... i wanna learn to know what he says--"

"Then I could teach you."

"I-..Huh? Really?" Wanted's voice seemed genuine, as if it's her first time to get offered something

"Yes, If it is such desire"
