Work Text:

When it's almost 10am and Misa still hasn't answered his messages, Sam is pretty sure the boy is still asleep, probably hungover.

Cat being the one who answers the door further strengthens his theory.

“Hi Sam,” Cat greets him with a hug, “Misa is still asleep, but you know the way to his room already,” she laughs.

It's true, Sam has probably spent more time in the Toffoli household than his own apartment, he could make his way to Misa's room with his eyes closed and hands tied behind his back.

He doesn't see Toff on his way, which probably means Misa is not the only one hungover.

Last night, Cat sent him a video of Misa and Toff playing a game of strip poker — only, rather than stripping off clothes, they were doing shots of alcohol.

Considering that, it is truly not a surprise Misa isn't ready for their brunch.

Last week Will and Mack went to some new brunch spot they swear is the best thing they ever did, taking in consideration all he knows about the couple, there's two options:

1: It's a very romantic spot.

2: The tables are so small their legs are basically on top of each other.

Either way, it is the perfect spot to take Misa.

Sam is fully prepared to find Misa feeling sorry for himself thrown out in the bed; instead, he finds an empty bed with the blankets all thrown on the ground.

Sam looks around the room, it's not fully trashed because Cat's stern look and disappointed voice prevents that from ever happening, but is goddamn close.

The door for the bathroom opens and Sam turns around to look and he can't stop the grimace that takes over his face.

“Damn Misa,” he says, “How much did you drink?”

Misa doesn't answer, only groans and then throws himself onto the bed; face first into a pillow.

If Sam knows anything about hungovers — and he unfortunately does — that is not a good idea. And if he knows anything about Misa — which he also does —, Misa has taken absolutely nothing for it, he probably hasn't even had water yet.

Sam makes his way to the kitchen, easily finding a packet of salty crackers and Gatorade in the kitchen. By the time he gets back, Misa doesn't have his face on the pillow anymore and he takes a second to take a proper look at his… whatever they are.

Misa is pale, his face slightly sweaty, dark circles under his eyes and looking sorry for himself, as Sam had previously imagined.

“C'mon, drink and eat something, Poker man.” Sam says, taking a seat beside Misa.

Misa scrunches up his face, “No,” he grumbles out, voice cracking and hoarse.

“C'mon,” Sam pokes at him, trying to make him sit up, “You will feel better.” It's kind of a lie, Misa is still in the throwing up phase and probably will be for another couple of years, but he still needs to hydrate himself.

“Sorry,” Misa says after he had half a bite of a cracker and a couple sips of Gatorade, “I know we were supposed to get brunch together.”

Sam brushes away a strand of hair sticking to the sweat in Misa's forehead, “It's okay, we could…” Sam stops for a second, thinking of anything Misa can do in this state, “Take a nap together?”

Misa half smiles, already fluffing the blankets around him, “Yeah, I would like that.”

Sam is not exactly tired, but he doesn't want Misa feeling bad for it. They can always go to brunch another day anyways.
