Chapter Text
All Simon knew was blood.
The ocean, his own, it didn't matter. Blood was blood was blood, regardless of its source.
He couldn't breathe. Did he need to breathe? No pressure built in his chest, no dizziness arose from a lack of oxygen. All he felt was peace as crimson surrounded him.
They will get their execution. I will get my freedom.
Something solid brushed against his side. The black box? That creature the C.O.I. had sent down with him?
Viper, a distant part of him supplied. Yes, that was their name. Or rather, that's what everyone called them. He didn't know if they had a name other than that, and he'd never gotten the chance to ask. It didn't matter now. As he felt his consciousness slipping, a faint light made him force his eyes open.
It came from a hole in the SM-13's wall. Had the eel done that? His memory escaped him. But on the other side, instead of the thick red of the blood ocean, a figure stood there, wreathed in light. They spoke words Simon couldn't hear, their face obscured in shadow.
Angel…
That was the last thought that flitted through Simon's mind as his eyes slipped shut once more.
And everything went black.
