“Came to take her home? Who the hell is this guy?” Kenji exclaimed, stunned. “What the fuck is going on?”.
The metallic taste stains my mouth crimson red but my only focus right now was him. I couldn't take my eyes off him. James. Sebastian cannot die. Not here. Not now.
Gripping my arm to delay the loss of blood, staining my hands in the process. “James… you need to stop.” He takes a sharp breath, stopping his fist mid-air. “ We need him alive.” He shifts to get off of him; the only sounds left are his heavy breaths.
“Can someone explain what's happening?” Kenji breaks the silence. I look over at James who is tying up Sebastian, his face bloodstained, clothes tattered, mangled. He peers at Kenji and then opens his mouth.
“There are spies all over our troops…” He glanced back at Sebastian suspiciously quiet and found his sights on me “And he's going to tell us all the info we need.”
An ear-piercing sound rises, disrupting the conversation. Gunshots. I was then reminded of my physical state. The pressure was not doing much to stop the bleeding only eased the pain. I could only hiss under my breath.
James glanced over his shoulder. “Are you okay?”
“I've dealt with worse, I'll be fine.” I respond. He turns back to Sebastian laying on the floor face first, hands tied behind his back. I've never seen him in such a degrading state. He always carried himself so highly but now he was bruised up, covered in the mixture of blood, sweat and dirt.
A whisper snaps me back to reality. “We have to find Warner and report back.” Kenji urged.
We began to move dodging anything that came our way dragging Sebastian like a rag-doll alongside us. This supermarket which was more like an everything store it ranges from food items to appliances/furniture. We stayed low, close to the ground. I felt eyes glaring towards me from behind. I pivot to reveal who it was.
“What?” A familiar voice said “Your boyfriend's that way.” Kenji whispered pointing at James.
“He's not my boyfriend.” I croaked meeting his dark eyes.
“I don't think he agrees.” With that response I turn towards James whose crouching down behind a counter, his hand curled into a bloody fist ready to punch anyone at any moment. His honey hair covers the left side of his face creating a blind spot. To my surprise he turned towards me, meeting my eyes.
“Are you sure he's not your boyfriend?” Kenji whispered “Because your eyes are telling a different story.” With that statement I turn towards him meeting his dark orbs first. “Are you mad or something? But that's not the important question.”
Somehow the topic changed to some musician. Noticing the confused expression on my face. “Wait, you seriously don't know who he is?” He exclaimed with an offended expression on his face. I nod, securing my answer.
“Oh. My. God. You don't know the Michael Jackson? I feel attacked.” Kenji remarked.
“Well if you'll be quiet then we won't be attacked” I respond back.
“Don't try to change the subject. Even Warner knows who he is.” Kenji stated. “What did they do to you on that island?” He added.
“Is he someone I should know?” I noted but he just stares at me with a horrified face. Did I offend him?
“Maybe you know his songs.” He looks off to the distance scratching his chin. He snaps his head back at me. “How about Smooth Criminal?” He searches my face for reaction only to be disappointed. “Um… Dirty Diana.” He points back at me for me to only shake my head.
The conversation was cut off not long after. More gunshots were heard. Sebastian was still tied up but he had a smirk on his face and turned to me. “You're too late.” Crack.
Next thing I knew James and Kenji were yelling. Their muffled screams were all I could hear. I look down only to see that very familiar friend. Blood pooling around my surroundings engulfing the ground in red. The red shifts turning darker in the shadows till it was entirely black.
