Woke up as Jungkook

Summary:

The title is pretty self-explanatory. Some may call this a mystery, some a comedy, but in reality it's just a crack fic based on inside jokes.

Notes:

I wasn't joking. I know NOTHING about BTS, so this should be an adventure.

This fic will be finished one day, but I only have motivation to write when I'm really bored or really busy, so no promises when. I can't even guarantee how often I'll update.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Ding ding ding dingding

Ding ding ding dingding

The robot was making the strangest noises. Oh wait, it was my mom. No, it was…the dream dissolved as the sound of the alarm registered through the haze of sleep. Eyes barely half open, I slammed my hand around in search of my phone. I hadn’t even set my alarm, seeing that it was my off day. Now, why was it blaring so much and why couldn’t I find it?

Finally managing to pry open my eyes, I looked around to see where I had thrown my phone, with its infuriating ringing, last night. Turning my head to look at the usual suspect, I saw. . . not my nightstand. I sat up with a vigor that did not match my typical level of morning energy. The sudden movement left my head spinning enough that I almost fell back down to my pillow. Despite what “professionals” had told me, I had no drive to fix my anemia. It was basically low-level anyway.

My head cleared and I finally managed to look around. This was not my room. This...was not my room. In fact, this was not a room I recognized at all. Holy shit. Where THE HELL was I? One of my biggest fears was being kidnapped, and it had finally happened.

“Holy shit.” I said it out loud this time.

The air was compressing. I was getting the same amount of air that I would when I was inevitably brutally murdered in some creative way that a teenage girl would one day obsess over on Wikipedia. I was going to die. I wasn’t going to see my family again. What had even been the last thing I said? “I’m going to sleep?” Was the last thing I did before I died really going to be staying up until 3am alternating between reading and texting about a show, while watching the show. This wasn’t how I wanted to live my life. I didn’t have regrets, but I thought I had more time. Don’t we all think we have mo…

“Oh my god, shut the fuck up.”

The stupid ass alarm was still going, interrupting my perfectly good internal monologue and dramatic life reflection. Once again, it was the only thing breaking through my haze. First disturbing my sleep, now my moment. I needed to turn it off.

“Infernal alarm.” I mumbled.

Damn, my morning voice sounded really different today. A strange thing to notice in a time like this, but it was a good clue as to what had happened. I must’ve been drugged. Probably something administered orally, just given the deeper rasp of my voice and trouble moving my tongue to pronounce some of the words. Honestly, trying to figure out how I got to where I was wasn’t my biggest problem right now. I needed to find out where I was. And turn off that annoying alarm, oh. My. God.

I finally spotted the phone lying on the far corner opposite to me on the bed. I tucked my legs under me and tried crawling towards the phone, but my body felt unnatural. Heavy. I flopped onto my stomach, arm reaching out for my the phone. Fingers brushing it, I managed to grope around and hit the screen enough to finally have the alarm shut off.

The silence, in some ways, was almost worse. Now that was done though, I had to figure out what was going on. The first thing necessary was to look around. I pulled myself back up to a seated position and put my arms behind me for support. The room was a generous size, obviously nice. The bed I was on was king sized with plush covers. A massive tv sat on the wall across from my position. There were large windows set across the wall to the right side, and a discrete glass door seemed to lead out to a nice balcony. Escape rout #1. If I could get out and see over the edge, I could determine how far a fall it would be to get down. If it was a feasible drop without dying or breaking legs (or possible to climb down), I could exit that way.

On the wall to my left was a door left slightly ajar. The part I could see looked like a swank bathroom, but I could only see part of a nice counter and sink with silver features. Actually, seeing that made me realize that I had to pee. On second thought, maybe I should have thought about this entire scenario more. I had jumped straight to fear, but maybe there was something else. There could be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this. I was freaking out, and I wasn’t even out of bed yet. In no way was I tied down. This room was obviously nice. Actually…on third thought…I had heard about (but thankfully never seen) 365 Days. The rich ones were always the most insane. I needed to continue my investigation.

Besides the strange feeling in my limbs and the previous irritation of my mouth and throat, I didn’t register any other harm to my physical being, but I was going to stand up and do a full check in a minute. I took a deep breath. There was going to be no way to ease my nerves until I could figure out what was going on, but freaking out would not benefit me in any way. Ok, the first thing I was going to do was go to the bathroom. If shit hit the fan, I did not want to be running on a full bladder.

My legs still felt odd as I kicked them over the side of the bed. I stood up, took a step…and fell straight down to the ground. I pulled myself up with the support of the bed. Nothing hurt, so I didn’t think I fell due to some injury. I just felt..off balance. Finally getting back to standing, I took a moment to do a mental check of myself. I then looked down to see if there were any physical reasons I had fallen. I guess a physical check would be the smarter idea than peeing first anyway.

Curiously (horrifyingly), I was not in my original pajamas. My black tank top and shorts had been traded for a wifebeater and grey sweats. And,

“HOLY SHIT. WHAT THE FUCK.”

On my right arm WAS A TATTOO. Not just one, a full sleeve. Previously, before this morning, I had a total of ZERO tattoos. Where the hell had these come from?? And while we were at it, where did these clothes come from? And this skin color. This was not my usual deathly sun avoidance pallor I strived for. And the worst part, this sure as hell didn’t look like my body. I lifted up my shirt the tiniest bit, and holy abs. I was even more confused now, but I wasn’t going to complain about that.

Maybe this was a dream. A hallucination. Was I on shrooms? Had I forgotten that I took hallucinogenics? Wait, no, I didn’t do drugs. Did drug addicts remember that they did drugs? Was I a drug addict? Wait, this was spiraling to nowhere productive, and I still had to pee. In fact, at this point there was an annoyingly noticeable voice in my head telling me this.

I turned around to walk towards the presumed bathroom. I needed to sort this out. I needed to get off the drugs (which I was still pretty sure I wasn’t on). Maybe I just needed to wake up? I pushed open the door, and froze. There, in the mirror, was not me. Not my body. Not my hair. Not my face.

The person staring back at me was Jungkook.

Fucking Jungkook.

Notes:

Confession time: I don't actually like BTS. I don't hate them, but besides for the few (3) songs I listen to, I avoid them as much as I can.

This might be shocking to some. (Don't come for me, this is a fic written for fun and out of good faith.)

+10 points if you can guess my favorite groups (hint: I use the term "K-pop" generally, so I do listen to idol groups from other countries besides Korea)
