Chapter Text
Aurelia Tideborne was born in ancient times on a night when the sea rose around a hidden island and crimson roses bloomed across the moonlit waves while thunder rolled along the horizon. As Poseidon, Lord of the Boundless Deep, and Aphrodite, Queen of Love, Beauty, and in her ancient aspect, War, stood beside the Fates, a prophecy was woven into her first breath: she would carry the sea’s power, love’s enduring flame, and the spirit of battle, and one day the fate of gods and mortals would rest in her hands.
Aurelia’s sea-green eyes mirror both calm lagoons and storm-tossed depths. Her hair falls in strands of turquoise and gold, bright as dawnlit waters, yet darkens like gathering clouds when divine fury stirs within her. Wherever she walks, the scent of salt mingles with roses and the distant trace of battle. Pearlescent shells and scattered petals drift in her wake, carried by unseen currents that reflect her bond to sea, love, and war.
Personality
Raised between divine realms and ancient traditions, Aurelia embodies the strength of the tides, the devotion of love, and the resolve of a warrior.
Though fierce in defense of those she cherishes, she is compassionate in judgment and inspires loyalty as surely as the moon guides the tides. Her emotions run deep, yet she remains steady in turmoil, reading deception as easily as a sailor reads an approaching storm.
Drawn to perilous voyages, meaningful bonds, and honorable struggles, she believes destiny is measured not by glory alone but by the lives protected and the connections that endure after conflict. Many who meet her feel a sense of calm, tempered by the unmistakable presence of a champion ready to fight for what she loves.
Powers
The blessings of her divine heritage reflect the three forces that define her: the ocean’s might, love’s power to heal and unite, and war’s strength to defend and endure.
Gifts of the Sea
- Dominion over water, from gentle waves to world-shaking tidal cataclysms.
- The ability to breathe beneath the waves and survive the crushing depths of the ocean.
- Communion with sea creatures, from swift reef fish to ancient leviathans older than memory.
- Sacred waters that heal wounds, restore strength, and ease grief.
Gifts of Love
- Insight into emotions, hidden desires, and wounds of the heart.
- A divine radiance that inspires admiration, trust, and devotion.
- The power to strengthen bonds and foster empathy, wisdom, and forgiveness.
Gifts of War
- Mastery of combat, strategy, and battlefield leadership beyond mortal understanding.
- The ability to inspire courage in allies and break the resolve of tyrants and monsters.
- Divine battle-fury that heightens her strength, speed, and endurance when protecting others.
- Command of sacred weapons forged from sea-bronze and celestial coral, each blessed by the gods.
Sacred Emblem
Her sacred emblem is a golden seashell entwined with a rose vine and crossed by a spear, symbolizing the union of sea, love, and war and the balance she is destined to preserve.
Prophecy and Destiny
An ancient prophecy declares that Aurelia will decide the outcome of a final struggle between creation and the abyss. As the daughter of sea, love, and war, she alone can unite gods and mortals against the coming darkness—or allow them to fracture beyond repair. The fate of the world rests on that choice.
The threat is the Abyssal King, a primordial tyrant imprisoned beneath creation since the dawn of time. Though still bound, his influence spreads through black tides, unnatural storms, and growing hatred among gods and mortals. If freed, he will drown the world in endless darkness and war, destroying the bonds that hold civilization together.
Two rival factions seek to shape Aurelia’s destiny:
- The Tidebound believe Aurelia is the champion foretold by prophecy. They work to unite gods and mortals, strengthen the seals that bind the Abyssal King, and guide her toward preserving the world.
- The Abyssborn worship the Abyssal King and seek his return. They believe Aurelia is the final key Aurelia Tideborne: Childhood, Training, Family, and the Call of Love, War, and Sea
Her Childhood
Aurelia Tideborne’s earliest years were shaped by a rare balance of love and power.
She was born beneath a sky ablaze with stars while the oceans stood unnaturally still, as though the sea itself paused to witness her arrival. Throughout Poseidon’s vast underwater kingdom, celebrations echoed from coral palaces to hidden trenches, for the daughter born of Poseidon and Aphrodite embodied a union of divine strength and divine compassion unlike any child the gods had seen before.
As the newborn opened her eyes, Poseidon gazed upon her in awe.
“The sea speaks your name, little tide.”
Aphrodite smiled and brushed a hand across Aurelia’s brow.
“May every heart she touches soften.”
Even as an infant, signs of both legacies revealed themselves.
When Aurelia laughed from her cradle of pearl, schools of silver fish flashed through the water in ribbons of blue and gold light. When she wailed, tiny droplets pattered against palace windows despite the clear sky above the sea. Servants exchanged startled glances as flowers woven into Aphrodite’s hair opened their petals all at once.
Despite her divine lineage and the prophecies whispered about her future, Aurelia remained a curious and compassionate child.
One morning, she spent hours untangling a seabird caught in fishing line near the surface. Another day, she carried an injured sea turtle back to a sheltered cove and sat beside it until it could swim again. Reef keepers often found her kneeling among broken coral, pressing glowing hands against shattered branches while colorful fish circled around her ankles.
Aphrodite often watched from nearby.
“Patience, darling. Healing has its own tide.”
Yet within her flowed the blood of Poseidon.
One afternoon, a group of young sea spirits cruelly mocked a timid friend of hers. Aurelia’s anger erupted before she could control it. The waters surrounding them twisted into a violent whirlpool, towering above the frightened spirits before dissolving moments later into drifting spray.
“Enough. Leave her alone!” Aurelia shouted.
The sea spirits recoiled in terror.
No one was harmed.
But everyone understood where the storm had come from.
Her friend clutched Aurelia’s arm with trembling hands while the sea spirits backed away without another word. Aurelia stared at the fading whirlpool, her own breathing ragged as bubbles streamed from her lips.
That day marked the first time Aurelia realized that her emotions and her powers were inseparably connected.
It would not be the last.
Later, Poseidon knelt beside her as the waters settled.
“The sea reflects the heart. Master one, and you command the other.”
As she grew older, she began to understand that she carried two divine legacies within her. Some days she sat beside Aphrodite helping rivals talk through old grudges. Other days she followed Poseidon through storm-tossed waters, learning when to raise a wave and when to let it pass. Little by little, she learned to hold both lessons at once.

Her Family
Poseidon
Though burdened by the responsibilities of ruling the oceans, Poseidon treasured his daughter beyond measure.
Unlike the fearsome god many imagined, he displayed a gentleness few ever witnessed whenever Aurelia was near. He saw within her the potential to become a protector whose strength would be guided by compassion rather than domination.
Rather than teaching her control alone, he taught her responsibility.
He took her through kelp forests swaying in deep currents and across trenches where ancient creatures slept in darkness. When fishermen damaged spawning grounds, he showed her the empty waters left behind. When whales migrated, he taught her to follow at a distance and watch how entire ecosystems moved with them.
During one such journey, Aurelia asked, “Father, why doesn’t the sea obey every command?”
Poseidon smiled faintly.
“Because it predates command. You do not rule the sea. You earn its trust.”
Whenever self-doubt clouded her thoughts, Poseidon would remind her:
“Storms make noise. Endurance shapes worlds.”
Once, after a training exercise left her exhausted and embarrassed, she kicked at the sand and muttered that she would never be strong enough. Poseidon simply pointed toward a cliff face worn smooth by centuries of waves.
“The rock resisted. The water remained.”
She never forgot the sight.
Aphrodite
If Poseidon taught Aurelia strength, Aphrodite taught her how to direct it.
The Goddess of Love adored her daughter and spent countless hours guiding her through the complexities of emotion and compassion.
Many expected Aphrodite’s lessons to focus solely on beauty and romance.
Instead, she brought Aurelia to crowded markets, wedding feasts, and mourning ceremonies. She would ask her daughter to watch faces rather than listen to words.
“What do you see?” Aphrodite would ask.
“She says she’s angry,” Aurelia once replied, nodding toward a merchant.
“And beneath it?”
Aurelia hesitated. “Fear.”
Aphrodite’s smile widened.
One evening, Aurelia asked, “How do I help someone who doesn’t want help?”
Aphrodite gently took her hand.
“See them clearly first. Love without understanding is assumption.”
Years later, Aurelia still remembered the warmth of her mother’s hand and the scent of roses drifting through the room as she spoke.
Because of Aphrodite’s influence, Aurelia often paused before acting. She listened to trembling voices, noticed clenched fists, and paid attention to what people avoided saying. More than once, a conflict eased simply because someone finally felt heard.
Triton
ForAmong all of Poseidon’s children, none were closer to Aurelia than her half-brother, Triton.
From the beginning, Triton became her protector, mentor, and closest friend.
Though they constantly teased one another and competed in friendly challenges, their bond remained unbreakable.
They raced dolphins through coral canyons, argued over who could summon stronger currents, and spent evenings perched on rocky outcrops watching storms roll across the horizon. Whenever Aurelia grew frustrated or reckless, Triton would flick water at her face and say,
“Think first. Flood later.”
She usually splashed him back.

Training with Triton
When Aurelia reached sixteen years of age, Poseidon declared that her true training must begin.
The task was entrusted to Triton.
“Ready?” Triton asked.
Aurelia grinned. “You should be asking yourself that.”
Aurelia expected lessons.
Instead, she received trials.
Learning to Listen
Her earliest challenges focused on mastering both the currents and herself.
Whenever Aurelia tried to command the sea through raw strength, chaos followed.
Triton repeatedly reminded her:
“The ocean isn’t a soldier. It’s a partner.”
More than once, Aurelia groaned in frustration.
“Then why won’t it listen?”
“Because you never do,” Triton shot back.
The lesson reached its climax when he left her alone within the deepest trench of the ocean.
At first she heard only the groan of shifting stone and the distant rush of currents. Hours passed. The darkness pressed around her. Then she noticed patterns—the pulse of water moving through the trench, the clicks of creatures hidden in the black, the slow rhythm of the sea itself.
When she emerged from the abyss, droplets streamed from her hair as she surfaced beside Triton.
“I heard it,” she whispered.
Triton nodded knowingly. “Finally.”
The Final Trial
Years of training culminated in one final test.
An enormous sea monster had emerged from the deepest trenches and threatened a migrating pod of dolphins. Triton ordered Aurelia to face it alone.
“Trust more than your power.”
The battle raged across towering waves and jagged cliffs. The creature’s tail smashed stone into the surf, and its roar shook seabirds from the sky. Aurelia dodged snapping jaws and raised walls of water to shield the fleeing dolphins.
Yet as she fought, she noticed a broken harpoon lodged deep beneath one armored plate.
As the beast roared, Aurelia called out, “You’re hurt. Let me help!”
The creature hesitated, its rage wavering beneath its suffering.
Instead of striking, Aurelia pinned it gently between spiraling currents and swam closer. Ignoring the danger, she gripped the splintered harpoon shaft and pulled. The beast bellowed in pain, then sagged as the weapon came free.
The water around them slowly calmed.
The dolphins were saved.
No lives were lost.
When Aurelia returned, Triton greeted her with a proud smile.
“You figured it out.”
Aurelia smiled back. “That sounded almost sincere.”
It was the greatest praise he had ever given her.
For the first time, Aurelia fully understood the purpose of her dual heritage. Her destiny was not to choose between love and power, but to unite them.
---
Love, War, and the Sea
As Aurelia matured, the world beyond the oceans grew increasingly turbulent. Rival kingdoms battled for dominance, and ancient grudges threatened to ignite wider conflicts.
She traveled between kingdoms as both diplomat and guardian, carrying Aphrodite’s gift for understanding and Poseidon’s authority over the seas.
Many rulers expected a warrior.
Others expected a peacemaker.
They discovered she was both.
During one tense negotiation, two rulers shouted accusations across a crowded hall.
“He stole our waters!” one cried.
“Your people crossed first!” the other answered.
Aurelia stepped between them.
“Forget blame. What has this war cost you?”
The room fell silent. One ruler slammed a fist onto the table. The other stared at the floor. Slowly, details emerged—failed harvests, flooded villages, families displaced by years of retaliation. By sunset, maps covered the table and the shouting had given way to weary conversation.
Her greatest challenge came when love entered her own life.
During her journeys, Aurelia met a young naval commander named Cassian, a man renowned for his courage at sea and his determination to end the wars dividing the coastal kingdoms.
Their first meeting ended in an argument on a rain-slick dock.
“Mercy matters,” Cassian insisted. “But some threats must be confronted.”
“And some threats are created by being ignored,” Aurelia shot back.
Yet he stayed to help unload supplies after a storm, and she noticed how sailors trusted him. Later, he watched her calm rough seas around a damaged vessel and saw how frightened passengers relaxed at her presence.
Over time, disagreement became understanding.
Understanding became trust.
And trust slowly became love.
One evening aboard a lantern-lit ship, Cassian handed her a cup of hot tea as waves tapped softly against the hull.
“Arguing with you is hopeless. You always sound right.”
Aurelia laughed. “That’s not what you said when we met.”
“I was soaked, exhausted, and wrong.”
Aphrodite smiled knowingly when Aurelia finally confessed her feelings.
“Love is not the absence of fear, my darling. It is the choice to remain.”
Their happiness was tested when war erupted between kingdoms allied to Cassian and those seeking control of the seas.
When negotiations failed and innocent lives were threatened, Aurelia stood at the forefront of battle. Waves rose at her command, shields of water protected sailors, and storms answered her call when defense became necessary.
Cassian fought beside her whenever he could.
Together they defended lives while continuing to seek peace.
More than once, Aurelia’s power saved him.
More than once, his devotion reminded her why power must serve something greater than victory.
Even during battles, she searched for alternatives. She ordered enemy sailors rescued from sinking ships. She met captured commanders face-to-face and listened to their grievances. In one siege, she spent an entire night negotiating a ceasefire while exhausted soldiers slept beside their weapons.
Her greatest victories were not always won on battlefields.
A surrendered fleet escorted safely home.
A treaty signed after months of talks.
An old enemy accepting an offered hand instead of reaching for a sword.
The sea reflected this balance within her. It could nurture or destroy, comfort or command. Aurelia understood both faces of its nature because she carried both within herself.

The Beginning of a Legend
By the end of her training, Aurelia had become far more than the daughter of two powerful gods.
She stood as a living bridge between strength and compassion, fury and mercy, storm and peace.
The sea answered her.
Love guided her.
And when war came, she faced it with both courage and wisdom.
Sailors told stories of the woman who raised walls of water around burning ships. Diplomats remembered long nights spent around negotiation tables while she refused to let talks collapse. Children in coastal villages pointed toward the horizon whenever storms broke apart before reaching shore.
Though countless adventures still awaited beyond the horizon, one truth remained constant throughout every triumph and hardship she would face:
When difficult choices arose, she drew on memories of her family—Poseidon pointing toward waves wearing down stone, Aphrodite teaching her to look beyond angry words, Triton challenging her to listen before acting, and Cassian standing beside her on uncertain seas.
Those moments shaped her more than any prophecy ever could.
They became the tide that carried her forward, again and again, toward whatever waited beyond the horizon.needed to break his chains and are determined to turn her power to their cause.
As signs of the Abyssal King’s awakening multiply, the conflict between these factions grows. Both sides race to influence Aurelia before the final confrontation arrives. When that moment comes, her decision will determine whether the realms stand united against the abyss—or whether all creation is consumed by the endless deep.
For Aurelia Tideborne bore a truth understood by few among gods or mortals:
“The sea may carve cliffs and shatter shores through its fury, love may heal what ages have broken, and war, when fought for the right cause, may safeguard both from the darkness
