Work Text:
Cal reached out, nervous despite knowing that everything in this room had been vetted by older psychometrics to be safe objects he could train his abilities with. He was still very young, and every experience he’d had with the ability had been overwhelming. But he would be a Padawan someday, and then a Jedi Knight, so he had to learn to face his fears, his teachers said.
He touched the worn old book, and a flash of memory rose up from its pages.
Hands rifled through, eyes searching through the words, not nearly as faded as they were now. The book spread open, a hand lowered to press it flat against the counter. Voices echoed.
“What are you making? What are you making?”
“You’ll just have to be patient and see! Although… it might go faster if you were to help me out…”
“Yes! I’ll help!”
A smile, pleased that she’d gotten the response she’d been aiming for.
“Well, you can start by bringing me a bowl…”
“Let it flow over you,” a different voice said, somehow more distant and closer at once. “Don’t get pulled under. A memory is a current, Initiate Kestis, and you must not fear it.”
