Built for the winter; not summer (Series of oneshots of Wolf and Fox)

Summary:

The wolf and fox‘ fur are built for winter, so surviving the first month of summer with 35ºC at it‘s peak will be hard, but durable.

Warnings, I’d give:
Chapter 2, 6 & 10 a mature rating
Chapter 4, 8 & 12 an explicit rating

Chapter Text

Oneshot #1: June has arrived

Wolf and Fox are sitting in the living room of their house, they both are currently reading their newspaper admidst the already present summer heat. It‘s their usual stuff, but suddenly the fox notices a special passage in his newspaper about a festival. He would like to go there with Wolf but he‘s not sure if Wolf would like that because Wolf feels like he has an image to maintain. Fox bites his lips a bit lost in thoughts. Wolf notices that Fox seems to be lost in deep thoughts.

He lightly squeezes Fox‘s hand asks with his gruff voice: „Hey, is something bothering you?“

Fox shakes his head, denying what Wolf has said: „No, my dear wolf, this newspaper has just been peaking my interest; there’s nothing more to it than that.“

Wolf raises an eyebrow: „Are you sure? I mean if you say so then alright…“

Wolf is still very sceptical. Fox grunts: „My dear wolf, will you be asking me about my botherings the entire day?“

Wolf gets annoyed: „Maybe because you seem very down at the moment like you‘ve seen something bad, you weren‘t acting like that 10 minutes ago.“

Fox sighs: „You know what, my dear fox, I‘ll pour myself a cup of tea for breakfast; cold of course, I‘d never drink warm tea in this climate. Would you like one as well?“

Wolf notices how Fox smoothly transitioned to another topic, Wolf will drop it for a few hours, but not too long.

Wolf asks: „Could I have my favorite the-"

„Orange Pokoe, yes, you‘ve requested this quite a lot that I‘ve started to memorise it for you“, Fox chuckles and gives his wolf a small kiss on the head before going to the kitchen.

„I‘ll inform you when breakfast is prepared.“, Fox says winking an eye affectionately like a cat.

„Alright, thank you“, Wolf says, his tone softening.

„No problem, my dear wolf, I find seeing you happy quite pleasureable“, Fox gives one last air-kiss before entering the kitchen.

Wolf notices Fox entering the kitchen and in that moment, he hides Fox‘ newspaper under his so it seems like Wolf is reading his own, while in reality, he is reading Fox‘. Wolf reads about Fox‘ stuff like a new shop so he can get a manicure for his claws, his favorite clothing shop getting expaned, the weather and more. Suddenly, he sees that there is a talk about a festival, more specifically, a pride festival, a festival to celebrate queer people.

„Huh?“, Wolf went from confused to understanding; Fox wanted to go to the festival with him and was scared that he would say no. Wolf wants to confront Fox right now but waits for Fox to finish breakfast.

During that time, he thinks to himself „Hm, he probably remembers when I said it‘s unwolflike. I guess he took note of that. I should put the newspaper in the same position as before and continue reading mine.“

A few minutes pass and Fox enters the living room again: „My dear wolf, I fed your kids. I found out that they enjoy rye bread; they really do take after their father.“, he winks.

Wolf grunts: „Fox, I need to talk with you. Sit down!“

Fox gets lightly scared, his voice is shaking a bit more than previously: „y- yes“ Fox sits down, holding his black tea containing milk. His grip on the glass isn’t very secure due to his swaety palm.

Wolf notices the sweaty palms, takes a gulp of his orange pokoe and gruffs: „You want to go to that festival, don‘t you?“

Fox looks down defeated: „You‘ve caught me, yes, I want to go to that festival with you. Would you like to go with me?“, Fox asks with a tone that he uses when he is lightly scared

Wolf chuckles: „That‘s why I brought it up. Yes, I‘ll go there with you but you promise to walk behind me because I still want to seem wolflike, deal?“

Fox‘ eyes light up. He hugs Wolf at his waist. "It's a deal!"

Wolf caresses Fox's hair: "No problem. Tell me, when is it starting?"

Fox looks up at Wolf: "It starts at 10:30. It's 9:47, we still have 43 minutes left to drink our teas."

Wolf chortles: "Yeah, I don't think we need 43 minutes for tea."

Fox responds: "Me neither."

After drinking their tea and brush their teeth, they get ready to go but realize that Simon and Barry will be alone.

Wolf places his hand on Fox' shoulder: "Sweetie, what should we do with Simon and Barry?"

Fox blushes surprised by the nickname.

Then he snickers: "Just let them play with the neibourghs' kid. They seem to be keen on spending time with Lucy; especially Barry. I'd suggest you should call them here and say while we're away, they can to the neibourghs."

Wolf nods: "Yeah, sounds like a good idea. SIMON! BARRY!"

Simon and Barry go to him: "Yeah, dad?"

Wolf responds crossing his arms: "Your other dad and I are going to go away for a bit. You two will spend time at the neibourghs with Lucy, alright?"

Simon and Barry nod in agreement; they like playing with Lucy.

"Good", Wolf huffs, the  4 leave the house and the two fathers bring Simon and Barry to the rabbit's house and Rabbit opens the door and gets scared seeing all, especially the wolves.

Fox answers: "Don't you worry, Rabbit, we are just here to let out children play with Lucy. I have heard Lucy enjoys their company and they really enjoy her comapny as well."

Rabbit nods, lets Simon and Barry enter and as he sees Fox and Wolf leaving, closes the door, much calmer than before. Lucy takes out her inflatable pool and the 3 spend time in her, but they use sunscreen of course; though Terrapin isn't really the best at it.

Wolf and Fox enter the city as the town is too small for something like that to be hosted here. They see a big colourful festival.

Fox comments: "I am not keen on the noise of this place but at least the ambiance is nice."

Wolf huffs: "Yeah, why did you wanna come here?"

Fox responds with a rather sad tone: "Well, my dear wolf, I enjoy not feeling alone. Before your arrival, they only other people I saw that we're like me are Rabbit and Terrapin. I might feel a little resentment when I see them. Is the cause jealousy? yes it is. But ever since you came, these sentiments have started to fade. So, my dear wolf, interpret this as me thanking you for being there in my life."

Wolf chortles: "You're welcome, sweetie. I think we should go to a bar and call it a day, hm?" Fox nods and quietly says: "I agree."

They enter a bar and get drinks. Fox chuckles: "I'd usually go for champagne or wine; and you would go with a tequila or margarita."

Wolf huffs affectionately: "Yeah, I went for a mojito with lime and you with a piña colada, right?"

Fox responds: "Indeed, I've always wanted to try that flavour. I love fruits, especially pineapples."

Wolf stares at his man lovingly. Fox chuckles lightly: "Seems like your drunk it love."

Wolf snaps back: "For the record, you too."

Fox laughs: "It seems like you've caught me." Fox sends an air kiss. Wolf holds his hand: "You seem to love kissing, do you?" Fox nods.

Without hesitation, Wolf kisses Fox on his mouth, a long kiss. The air is warm and it feels like time has stopped. They stay like that for a few seconds, Wolf's hand securing Fox' head.

Wolf smirks: "If you ordered champagne, I would've given you a French kiss."

Fox blushes and exhales: "Oh my, you've really let your guard down… and I don't mind it one bit."

Wolf laughs: "You want more? I can promise you more when we're home. I have to say, it was very unwolflike but this is an acception."

Don't mention it, alright?" Fox smiles and winks: "Of course, I won't tell the children about this. I mean… our children."

Wolf gives the Fox a pat on the butt: "Heh, good. Let's go home." Fox responds: „Good idea, we still have something left for today that I have been looking foward to the entire day.“

The two get to the train station, wait for the train and drive home, they loved the day. In the train, they're having a small conversation about everything: "It has been a memorable day I've spent with you, my dear wolf."

Wolf smirks: "With you too."

Fox responds looking out the window: "I'd be honoured if you would like to go with me again, it'll happen through the entire month."

"Hey, look at me", Wolf commands and then gets a bit softer but still being a bit stern: "Of course, just not every day, unterstood?"

Fox nods: "Of course, thank you."

Wolf smirks: "No need to thank me."

They get home, and Wolf prepares dinner for the family this time.

After dinner, Wolf looks at Fox: "Sweetie, wanna make this night special?"

Fox agrees: "Yes, my dear wolf, but what about the kids?"

Wolf gives Fox a little chuckle: "Well, we could ask Rabbit if they can stay at his house, you know?"

Fox laughs a bit: "Brilliant idea, as if it were mine."

Wolf responds: "Yeah, good observation."

It's still.

Fox responds after a bit: "I won't scream their names, I need to maintain my fragile voice, yours is antifragile, you call them."

Wolf gruffs rolling his eyes: "Alright" "SIMON! BARRY! LUCY SAID YOU CAN HAVE A SLEEPOVER AT HERS."

The two boys come running down the stairs, get ready and go to their neibourghs.

Fox looks at Wolf as if Wolf had lost his mind: "Haven't you thought about it? The rabbit doesn't know they're coming!"

Wolf shrugs: "He does, during dinner, Barry said if they return today after dinner, they can stay with him."

Fox takes a step back: "This is making me think that maybe I should pay attention to what others say."

Wolf snorts: "Yeah, that's a good idea." Fox takes one step closer to Wolf, or even two steps: "So, should we go to the bedroom for an intimate meeting?"

Wolf laughs: "Yeah, I'm down to do that."
