Chapter Text

"It's over Dread!" Shouted Max Steel, currently in his most powerful Turbo Mode, Turbo EXO Strength Mode. At the moment, he was facing off against all of his foes: Toxzon, Extroyer, Ultimate Elementor, Metal Elementor, and Miles Dread.

"Max Steel," said Miles Dread as he turned to face the recently arrived hero from the elevated platform he was on, "How nice of you to join us. But alas this will be our last meeting."

Behind the megalomaniac, the machine he had built began to charge up more and more before a red a black portal erupted from the center. The portal let out cracks of what sounded like thunder as it began growing more powerful, thanks to the Negative Turbo Energy supplied by Dread.

"It would seem you are a bit too late to stop this," stated Dread as his body flashed a bright crimson as he entered his powered-up state.

"You think we can do this, Max?" inquired Steel as his best friend took hold of him and aimed Steel at the center of the portal.

"No, but we can certainly try," replied Max as he got ready.

"Let’s roll!" shouted Max as he channeled his Turbo Energy into the Ultralink.

After a quick charge, a bright blue beam erupted from Steel's eye and struck the center of the portal. The positive and negative charges of the colliding T.U.R.B.O. Energy caused the portal to create a suction effect, drawing in everything. Due to their proximity being much closer than that of the other villains; Metal Elementor Ultimate Elementor, Toxzon and Extroyer were pulled into the portal. Seconds after the four entered the portal, a colossal eruption of energy exploded from the machine, catching Max, Steel, and Dread in the wave.

"Anyone get the number of that bus?" groaned Steel as he hovered up into the air, unlinking himself from Max's chest while his human partner got to his feet.

"No, though a better question would be what happened," answered Max as he got his feet underneath him and stood up, noticing that both he and Steel weren't in Dread's secret base anymore, "And where are we?"

Instead of a ruined and crumbling secret base, Max and Steel were now in an ancient castle, the throne room if they had to guess. The hero sat up and felt something by his hand, looking over, he saw the Turbo Sword lying on the ground.

“We’re definitely not in Kansas anymore,” commented Steel, earning a groan from Max as he got to his feet.

Before they could properly get their bearings, both heroes heard a crash behind them. Turning around, they saw the rotting wooden doors leading to the throne room burst open. Through the doorway emerged the strangest group of individuals he had ever seen.

The group consisted of a pair of half-elf twins: a male wearing dark leather beneath a black feathered mantle, and a female in a blue tunic with a white fur pauldron. Beside them was a white-haired human in a blue trench coat and spectacles, gripping a multi-barreled pepperbox pistol. Towering over the rest was a massive Goliath with grey, tattooed skin, clad only in a chest harness, single pauldron, and fur-lined pants, across his back was a double headed axe. Another half-elf sported red hair intertwined with antlers, wearing green garments while clutching a wooden staff topped with a glowing green crystal. Finally, two gnomes completed the party: a male sporting an open purple shirt exposing his chest hair, and a blonde female wearing grey and gold armor, a glowing pendant hung around her neck.

“What…?” Was all Max could say seeing the weird group.

“Did we land in a DnD expo or something?” Wondered Steel out loud as well.

However, that moment came to a swift end when the goliath drew his double headed axe and rushed Max faster than they thought he could move. Without hesitation, Max grabbed the Turbo Sword and blocked the attack with ease. The hero countered by kicking the giant in the stomach, knocking him back.

Before the fight could escalate, the gnome wearing the grey and gold armor got in between both sides. “Guys, wait!” I don’t think this is who we’re looking for!”

“We’re not from around here,”

Max said as he and Steel sat at a campfire with the group that previously attacked them. The duo taking turns explaining their history, Max had his helmet retracted and was scratching the back of his head.

“You guys are kinda the only people we know,” Said Max as he gave the group a look over.

“Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing,” commented the lone human of the group, his name being Percy.

“Kinda harsh there, Percy,” stated Scanlan.

“You guys seem fine to me,” commented Max, giving the group a hopeful look.

The group of adventurers, Max, and Steel end up at a tavern with the young man getting drunk for the first time in his life.

A tavern brawl breaks out. Max grips a wooden beer mug and smashes it over a patron before punching an Orc in the face.

Max and a tiefling barmaid are making out as they stumble into a backroom.

“I take back what I said that night,” Max groaned, severely hungover. He was mostly naked, in a strange bedroom, and the same tiefling barmaid from the bar asleep on the bed, completely naked, “Those people suck.”

“They tried to tell you,” reminded Steel as he hovered nearby, looking at his best friend.

“But they’re all we got.”

Max, Steel, and the party all stood together in the throne room for the kingdom of Emon. All of them looking like they just crawled out of a gutter. Grog lets out a loud burp that echoes through the entire throne room. This got the attention of The Council of Tal’Dorei who all turned to the source of the belch.

“I’m sorry,” said Lady Kima first, “Who the hell are you?”

“We’re Vox Machina!” Said Scanlan proudly, “We fuck shit up!”

The rest of the party looked at each other before shrugging that this was true.

“Whether it is for the better or worse is open to interpretation,” added Steel hovering by Max’s shoulder.

“Let’s go!” Called out Pike as she created a gold glowing shield on her left wrist. She charged forward with Vax while Percy fired The List.

“Go Turbo: Strength!” Max yelled as Steel slammed into his chest and his body erupted in a flurry of hexagons before reforming into a suit that rivaled the size of Grog. He followed the charge.

In a cave, Max Steel dropped down from the cavern ceiling, he was in Turbo Strength Mode. With a yell, the hero brought down both his fists onto the back of a blue dragon. At the same time, Keyleth and Percy restrained the dragon’s wings, using vines and pepper box to drop stalactites respectively.

“SCANLAN’S HAND!” Sang Scanlan as he used his Bigby Hand to hurl Grog at a giant.

“Go Turbo: Cannon!” Shouted Max as he switched to Turbo Cannon Mode. After successfully switching, the hero launched himself at another giant, his body shimmering with Turbo Energy. He smashed right through the torso of the undead being.

“You can’t seriously be considering a bunch of nobodies and a child for such a task?”

Max was standing with Vox Machina as he and the group waited for the decision if they were to be considered for the job at hand. All of them looking like they just crawled of the gutter, Keyleth puking a little bit.

“Our reputation is…”

Max is sitting next to Vex, looking a bit wasted before he got a panicked look on his face. He then jumped to a window behind them and threw up. Vex patting him on the back.

”A complete dumpster fire?” Inquired Steel, hovering by the group as they tried figuring out their next step.

”If killing for gold isn’t getting us anywhere,” began Pike as she talked to everyone present, “Maybe we try doing some good this time?”

The entire group was silent for a second.

”Nah/Boring/We’re in,” they all said in unison, Max and Steel being the only ones to agree with Pike’s plan.

“Kill Vox Machina!” Ordered a warped voice as the group was taking on a hoard of zombies together. Max Steel in Turbo Heat Mode setting the corpses ablaze.

”If this evil persists, this kingdom will starve to death.”

The group are together again, Max Steel in Strength Mode and Grog holding up a collapsing roof together.

Allura facepalms with both her hands as the guests of the party watch Scanlan’s performance. Max is standing beside Allura, wordlessly, he hands her a drink.

”I told him this isn’t the kind of party for this,” Max remarked as he felt her embarrassment for the situation.

”I suggest we run, right now!” Shouted Percy as he snapped a head off a zombie.

”Fuck that!” Objected Grog as he gripped his axe, “We fight!”

Grog let out a battle cry as he charged right towards a blue dragon, axe raised high above his head.

Max Steel, in Spike Mode, classes blades with his foe, sparks flying as their weapons collided.

Turbo Machina

“You doing alright there, Max?” Asked Steel.

”I’m fine,” said Vax.

”I was talking to Max, not you,” corrected the Ultralink.

”Then why’d you say his name?” Inquired Scanlan.

”I didn’t!”

“This is gonna be an ongoing thing, huh?” Said Max tiredly as he watched the trio bicker.

”But it’ll be entertaining,” pointed out Vex.
