Chapter Text
The apartment was loud.
Which wasn't unusual.
The apartment was always loud.
Ennoshita sighed as he unlocked the front door.
He'd been looking forward to a quiet evening.
Maybe some tea.
Maybe a movie.
Maybe—
The moment he stepped inside, something exploded.
A glowing pillow flew across the living room.
"GET BACK HERE!"
"I DIDN'T EVEN HIT YOU THAT HARD!"
"YOU THREW A PILLOW AT MY FACE!"
"THAT'S THE POINT OF A PILLOW FIGHT!"
A second glowing pillow slammed into the wall.
Ennoshita stared.
"..."
The pillow bounced.
Then continued glowing.
"..."
Normal.
Probably.
In the middle of the living room, Atsumu, Terushima, and Futakuchi were attempting murder.
Or whatever the pillow equivalent of murder was.
Bright gold light flashed around Atsumu.
A faint red glow surrounded Terushima.
Meanwhile Futakuchi was somehow wielding three pillows at once.
"WHY DO YOU HAVE THREE?!"
"I'M TALENTED."
A pillow hit Atsumu directly in the face.
He screamed dramatically.
"MY BEAUTIFUL FACE!"
"IT'S STILL THERE!"
"FOR NOW!"
Ennoshita carefully removed his shoes.
In the corner of the room sat Kenma and Shirabu.
Completely unaffected.
As if they existed in another dimension.
Kenma was curled up beneath a blanket, a game console resting in his hands.
Shirabu sat beside him with a book.
The chaos swirled around them.
Neither acknowledged it.
A glowing pillow bounced off the couch.
Neither reacted.
"Shouldn't you stop them?" Ennoshita asked.
Shirabu turned a page.
"No."
Kenma didn't look up.
"They'll get tired eventually."
Atsumu launched himself over the coffee table.
Terushima tackled him.
Futakuchi joined for reasons unknown.
The coffee table broke.
"..."
"They're fine," Kenma said.
Ennoshita wasn't convinced.
Then he noticed Akaashi.
Standing in the kitchen.
Surrounded by candles.
Ennoshita blinked.
"Akaashi?"
"Welcome home."
"What's with the candles?"
"Oh."
Akaashi glanced down.
There were indeed candles.
Arranged in a circle.
Around a notebook.
Covered in symbols.
"Trying a new hobby."
"Okay."
A green flame suddenly shot upward.
"..."
"..."
"It does that sometimes."
"Right."
Ennoshita nodded.
Because honestly?
That tracked.
Another explosion came from the living room.
A pillow burst into glitter.
Nobody questioned it.
"WHY IS THERE GLITTER?"
"I DON'T KNOW!"
"WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A GLITTER PILLOW?"
"I DIDN'T!"
"THEN WHO DID?!"
Everyone slowly looked at Futakuchi.
"..."
"..."
"Fair."
Akaashi calmly stirred something in a pot.
One of the candles changed color.
Ennoshita decided not to ask.
The apartment had gotten weird months ago.
At first he'd questioned things.
Now?
Now he was tired.
His roommates did weird stuff.
That was simply how life worked.
Like how Atsumu somehow always wore fake fox ears.
Very realistic fake fox ears.
They even moved.
Or how Kenma occasionally seemed to appear in rooms without opening doors.
Or how the apartment became colder whenever Shirabu got annoyed.
Or how Yahaba could somehow hear conversations through three walls.
Or how Terushima's eyes occasionally glowed.
Or how Akaashi owned an alarming amount of candles.
Or how Futakuchi kept talking to ceramic frogs.
Weird.
Very weird.
But probably explainable.
Probably.
Ennoshita sat down between Kenma and Shirabu.
Immediately a blanket appeared over his lap.
Neither of them acknowledged doing it.
"...Thanks."
Shirabu grunted.
Kenma continued gaming.
Across the room, Atsumu was now attempting to suplex Terushima with a pillow.
The kitchen briefly caught fire.
Akaashi sighed.
And as Ennoshita looked around at his absolutely ridiculous roommates, he couldn't help but smile.
They're so weird.
From the kitchen, a candle exploded.
From the living room came a battle cry.
A pillow began floating.
Nobody reacted.
