omegaverse drabble collection

Summary:

A collection of shorter and longer fic drabbles from the universe of one of my omegaverse roleplays that has escaped all control really and I wanted to gather them all up into one place. Mostly just very self-indulgent domestic fluff pieces where Wrathion and Anduin navigate their new life with their twins Orion and Varia. More context provided in author note.

Notes:

Very self-indulgent, and I'm naming and shaming my partner in crime who plays the most adorable omega Anduin, @wrynnindoubt on tumblr. But few people outside this bottomless roleplay pit we dug ourselves into have enjoyed these so I'm collecting them all here. Not all of them are strictly canon to the roleplay universe but they are all unified by the same base plot and theme:

During the war on Pandaria, while recovering from his injuries the omega crown prince of Stormwind traveled to the Tavern in the Mists in search of the black dragon he had heard rumors about. This Wrathion was told to be pulling strings all over the continent and Anduin wanted to know what it was that he was plotting, while also curious to meet the black dragon that boasted to be the last of his kind and uncorrupted. What he found was a brash young man looking to be around the same age as him, who was perhaps blunt and eccentric but also surprisingly good company and very sharp, almost dangerously so. The dragon was also an alpha, something that no one had warned Anduin about beforehand, but it didn't really become a problem until the omega without a warning went into heat.

What had become a tentative friendship spent over hours of board games and debating was suddenly turned on its head when Wrathion had no idea how to behave around someone that he was suddenly very attracted to, and in the end Anduin opted to barricade himself in his room to wait his heat over. This plan didn't last long when the dragon escaped from his bodyguards and sneaked to the omega's window asking to be let in, and Anduin against his better judgement did. This resulted in them half accidentally not only bonding but also conceiving, the latter which they did not discover until much much later down the line.

The story then involves Anduin trying to furiously figure out how to navigate the reality of being bonded to a black dragon, someone that not only his own father but the entirety of his people despise. He had been set to marry and bond an alpha of his father's choosing when the time for that came, but now because of his decisions the entirety of Stormwind's throne would be considered to be under threat by the black dragonflight once more. And absolutely no one would believe him when he told them that Wrathion was much more caring and considerate of him than any human alpha had been, because dragons consider their mates not property but rather a precious partnership. Well, it also doesn't help that Wrathion is how he is, a little brash and a little selfish, yet still trying his best to step up to be a partner worthy of Anduin.

Eventually they had their half-dragon children, twins by the names of Orion and Varia, who grow up around Wrathion's Blacktalon with their parents until they are old enough to return to Stormwind.

Now with art that I remembered I drew before! Orion and Anduin from our AU

This first drabble is just a short and sweet snippet from an evening where Wrathion is still rather smol in his draconic form.

Chapter Text

Anduin paused in the middle of the line he had just been reading when the door to their bedchambers was pushed open just a sliver, and in the little bit of the light that cast in from the sitting room outside and what his reading lamp offered he could see the small dark shape of the dragon slip in and hurry his way towards the bed with light scrapes of his claws against the floor.

His lips turned into a smile as Wrathion disappeared behind the edge of the bed, and after a moment of what he knew was the whelp measuring the force needed to make the jump he was lightly hopping up onto the edge of the mattress and finding his balance with his short clubbed tail and flared wings.

The dragon did not even pay attention to his mate though, as he turned to step over the covers with his short legs that threatened to sink him into the fabrics, and made his way to the two small bundled shapes that had been resting surprisingly peacefully next to Anduin while he read.

Wrathion stepped carefully between the two sleeping babies and reached out his snout to gently sniff them both as if to check that they were still both his and no one had come to swap them out while he wasn't looking. And then with softness that he seemed to reserve for his whelps only he rubbed his scaly cheek on them both in affection gently enough that they wouldn't wake up. It had them both twitch their tiny curled fingers hesitantly in their sleep as if they weren't sure if they should try to reach out for their father's warmth or not.

"They have been on surprisingly good behavior," Anduin said softly to not disturb the pleasant moment, watching as Wrathion evidently spotted something in the outer corner of Varia's eye as he reached out to gently lick her soft face clean with his rough tongue. Satisfied with his checkup of his children then the dragon was carefully stepping over Orion's sleeping form, his short legs barely long enough to reach without ending up kicking him in the process, and he moved to climb to Anduin's lap instead so he could flop over.

"Of course they have, they are mine after all," the whelp said with a pleased purr to his voice, making himself comfortable as he stretched his rear limbs out and pressed his front paws against the human's flattening stomach. The smugness drew a snort out of Anduin, who was automatically accommodating to the dragon's claim for space by moving his arms so he could possibly continue still reading even while Wrathion got comfortable on him.

"Ah yes, they clearly got that from you," he said dryly, thinking that their whelps showing their disagreement through temperamental biting must have come from him then and had nothing to do with the small dragon on his lap who was known for doing exactly the same when he wasn't this comfortable.
