Spencer rested her head on Ashley's bare shoulder, as her hand shifted through the pile of new lipsticks laid out on the bed. "Have I told you how I missed you?" She broke the silence that nestled between. Smiling, she swayed buzzed on the scent of Ashley's perfume. A scent she missed far too much.
"Only about five times every hour," Ashley chuckled. "You're such a dork, sometimes." She examined a soft pink shade before passing it to Spencer. "I think I missed you more."
It was cheesy, they both knew it. The way they spoke to each other. But they needed it. After everything, they deserved it - the cheese, the quiet, how their sentences ended softer than how they began.
"Impossible," Spencer giggled as she applied the chosen shade. "What do we think?"
"Beautiful."
Spencer laid her head back on Ashley's shoulder. Her skin was soft and warm, comforting, like home. She pressed her lips against the back of her shoulder, lingering, savoring. Wishing that nothing would ever tear them apart again.
She lifted her lips, a stain remained. A reminder that Ashley was her's. And that she was Ashley's.
