Work Text:
Neo watched as the ship left the harbour, the cheering crowds a blur behind her, drowned out by the roaring waves inside her ears. She knew what would happen. She should never have come here. It was the first lesson at the agency, about fixed points and time you couldn’t change. It was the example used in every class, every single Agent could describe it in depth.
But, she had to see. And now, with the nausea that sunk deep in her stomach, she wished the classes had been enough.
As quick as a flash of lightning, Neo disappeared in a blur of gold, before collapsing onto her bed. Mina crept next to her, sitting on the pillow, “Rough day?”
Neo just nodded, misery evident on the teenager’s face.
Mina rested a hand on her partner’s shoulder, and gently squeezed. Her voice was soft, “I’m sorry.”
