Pup Fiction (These gays, they're trying to murder me)

Summary:

Annoyed that Wednesday and Enid refused to admit their feelings for each other, Agnes wrote a Viper/Evelyn story based on her friends. It became a sensation in the AO3 fandom and an instant classic in the Nevermore community.

If only the two people in question didn’t find out about it. Because when they did, they would surely hunt her down.

OR

5 times Agnes narrowly escaped murder attempts with the help of other people, and 1 time she turned a crisis into an opportunity to bring her two idiotic friends together.

She’s a creative pint-sized psycho, after all.

Notes:

It's just something silly that I wrote in between the World Cup games. I love Jennifer Coolidge in The White Lotus, and that quote/scene never fails to crack me up. So this story is inspired by that quote, with Agnes the Vipelyn/Wenclair fanfic writer being hunted by her two subjects in question. The whole thing is done - just needs some editing but I intend to post a new chapter every few days. It's also a humor/crack story so not to be taken seriously.

Two basic premises for this story: Wednesday, Enid & co. are in their last year at Nevermore, and Wednesday has published her Viper novel already.

English is not my first language so please excuse any errors.

Hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Yoko Tanaka

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Yoko Tanaka stepped inside her room to grab a sweater.

When she opened her closet, she found herself looking right into the big, round eyes of a certain Agnes DeMille, who was kneeling and hugging her knees behind her clothes.

“AAAHHHHHH!”

She almost threw her sunglasses at her in self-defense.

“Holy shit, Agnes! What the hell are you doing here?”

Agnes looked as pale as someone who had covered her body with insecticides and then walked across a field of cockroaches after losing a dare. “I’m hiding.”

“In the closet?” Yoko frowned. “Girl, if you want advice on coming out, you can just ask.”

Agnes rolled her eyes and snorted.

“I’m hiding from your comphet best friend.”

The vampire paused and lowered her sunglasses, giving the fifteen-year-old a long look. Sure, everyone knew Enid and Agnes had a rocky past, but that was certainly all over by now, right?

“And her emotionally constipated roommate.”

Ah, now that made a difference. Hiding from Enid Sinclair simply meant they had a silly argument. Hiding from Wednesday Addams meant an obliteration was imminent.

“These gays, they’re trying to murder me.”

Yoko blinked.

“Okay, we'll talk about the language issue at a later time…but now, do you want to come out of the closet first? Or would you feel more comfortable staying in it?”

She just wanted to grab a sweater. She didn't expect to lead a therapy session.

Agnes shot Yoko a look that screamed murder on its own. She hugged her knees closer, and Yoko understood that it meant she felt more comfortable staying hidden in her piles of clothing.

“Fine, stay in the closet, then. Your secret is safe with me, girl.”

Agnes threw a scarf at her, which she easily caught.

Truth to be told, Yoko was rather curious what might have triggered such a strong reaction from the little vanisher. Once they had established that Agnes was not trying to replace Enid as Wednesday’s best friend, the trio had gotten really close. Agnes could be seen following them around like a devoted puppy, wagging her invisible tail and humming happily when being patted on the head. To date, the redhead was the only person not named Enid Sinclair who could touch Wednesday Addams and walked away with intact fingers.

Sometimes, Yoko wondered if Agnes had replaced her as Enid’s best friend instead.

So, maybe she wouldn’t be too opposed to Wednesday murdering the redhead. She only hoped that the murder scene was anywhere but her room.

“So, what have you done?”

“Why do you assume right away that it’s my fault?”

Yoko cocked her eyebrows. “Beeeecause why else would Addams come after you? And even Enid? You’re practically their adopted daughter.”

That being said, if judged by height, Wednesday Addams should be the daughter instead, but that remained Nevermore’s open secret that no living soul dared to say out loud.

Agnes sighed and shifted her position.

“Have you heard of ‘The Tunnel at the End of My Light’?”

“Did you fail third-grade English back then?”

“No, not the idiom,” Agnes tossed a pair of jeans at Yoko’s face. “The fanfiction.”

That got Yoko’s attention.

“You mean that legendary AU Wenclair fanfic on AO3, based on the characters from Wednesday’s novel? The one where Viper and Evelyn are seniors in high school, have a love-hate relationship due to their three thousand differences, but are so clearly, unironically, desperately in love with each other the whole time? That super gay but infuriatingly slowburn one?”

Agnes winced and couldn’t hide a blush from creeping onto her cheeks. “Well…yeah, that one.”

“Aww damn, that was a good read. I remember the literature club here even held a workshop about it and did its best to keep it from Wednesday and Enid. Too bad the story stopped updating a couple months ago, though. I think it was almost twenty chapters in already? Such a shame, we all hate incomplete WIP…but wait, how is that –”

But Yoko never got to finish that sentence. Within seconds of hearing rapid, increasingly aggressive footsteps in the hallway, there was a loud growl, and then the vampire’s dorm door was smashed into pieces in one swift tackle by a very agitated werewolf.

“AAHHHH! Holy shit, Enid! What the hell!”

“YOKO!!!” Enid shrieked. “HAVE YOU SEEN AGNES?”

Yoko glanced at her closet and saw that Agnes was gone.

Traitor.

“I can smell her in here,” Enid sniffed the air and looked around suspiciously. “Tell me you know where she is.”

Either she had turned invisible or escaped right away, Yoko concluded. She doubted the vanisher was that agile, but knowing that she was Addams’ little apprentice, she wouldn't rule out the possibility of her becoming the next Jack the Ripper in five years’ time.

She glanced at her room’s window, watching the curtain dance in the wind. She was certain that she had not left it open beforehand.

Maybe Agnes had learned how to apparate too. She better be, since her room was located on the fifth floor of Ophelia Hall.

“Enid,” Yoko tried to sound as calm as possible, “you broke my door.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll buy you a frappuccino later,” Enid brushed off the vampire’s concern and hardened her gaze. “Where. Is. She?”

Honestly, Yoko had not seen Enid this angry since that fight with Wednesday three months ago. The gothic girl, either entirely clueless or just incredibly dumb, casually mentioned that she visited Isadora Capri’s new Hyde compound over Christmas break for research purposes and ran into none other than the infamous Tyler Galpin there. Even though she insisted nothing had happened, Enid retaliated by spending the next three days clinging to Bruno, who looked very pleased but also extremely terrified for his life. For once, Yoko actually felt sympathetic for the male werewolf; after all, no one in their sane mind, not even a loony and borderline psychopathetic Agnes DeMille, would want a murderous-looking Wednesday Addams constantly staring daggers at him and holding actual daggers under her sleeves while standing no less than twenty feet away wherever they went.

They made up. Of course they did. It took almost two full weeks for things to cool down. Yoko had been very confident that only multiple rounds of French kisses and a mutual acknowledgment of their gayness for each other would resolve the conflict.

But no. Somehow, they spent a night talking things out, and the next day they became best friends again. They joked, they flirted, they held hands, they flirted again, they clung to each other all the time. Life was back to normal.

To hell with normalcy was pretty much everyone’s thought.

They somehow still refused to admit they were totally in love with each other.

“Told ya,” Divina had smugly grinned, and Yoko grudgingly slammed fifty bucks on her girlfriend’s open palm.

“Agnes was here to borrow a couple board games, but she left over an hour ago,” Yoko replied. Enid did not think twice before huffing and taking her leave, her nose still sniffing the air for Agnes’ lingering scent.

“Enid, what about my door?”

By the time the sentence was completed, Enid was already gone.

Yoko stared at her broken door that Enid totally did not even bother to spare another glance.

She decided maybe she didn’t want Agnes dead as much as she wanted to skin the raven and the werewolf alive herself.
