Work Text:
Brightney walked over to the medical wing of Gardenview. She held a book in her hand, one that her and Tisha had been reading. Well, more like Brightney had been reading aloud to Tisha. Only very recently did Tisha finally wake up from the coma she was in. It had been about 3 months since Tisha woke up. The only reason Ginger and the others could think of why Tisha took longer to wake was due to her injury that caused her twisting. Her body having to make more ichor while also removing it. It was quite a strain to her body.
Almost every toon that had turned twisted were in a coma. Including the Mains. The ichor had fucked their minds up so bad that they basically turned off when it was removed. The whole time they were in their comas, their bodies were relearning how to function with all the ichor in them.
Brightney stopped at room 146. She stuffed the book under her arm pit and opened the door. Tisha sat in the bed waiting for Brightney to come in, her face lighting up when she noticed Brightney, “Brightney!”
Brightney waved, placing the book on the nightstand next to the bed, “How are you?”
“I’m alright. Are you?” Tisha asked, gently grabbing Brightney’s face and rubbing her cheek with her thumb.
“I’ve been alright. Excited to continue reading with you,” Brightney replied, smiling warmly.
Tisha removed her hand from Brightney’s face and looked away. She looked over at the crutches that were placed on the wall earlier that month by Ginger. An idea formed in her head.
“I have another thing we can do instead of reading,” Tisha said, looking over at Brightney.
Brightney, trying to find the page they were on, looked up, “What is it?”
“Come around the bed and we’ll go from there.”
Brightney placed the book back down on the night stand and stood up. She walked around the bed and over the left side where Tisha wanted her. Tisha pulled the covers off herself and held out her hand to Brightney.
“What are we doing?” Brightney asked, holding out her hand.
“You’ll see,” Tisha said, using Brightney's hand to help her pull herself up from the bed.
Brightney immediately grabbed onto Tisha's waist pulling her in to keep her stable. Tisha placed her hands on Brightney’s shoulders tightly grabbing them.
“You shouldn’t be doing this. What happens if I can’t keep you from falling or-”
“I’ll be alright, calm down,” Tisha cut off.
Tisha stabilized her legs and moved Brightney's hand on her shoulder, replacing her hands on Brightney’s waist. The two slowly moved away from the bed and closer to the middle of the floor. The two slowly started to swag in unison.
“This is dangerous,” Brightney said, looking Tisha in the eyes.
“When did you stop liking danger?” Tisha asked.
“Since you got hurt because of danger.”
Tisha pulled Brightney in closer, her hands going up on her back. Brightney moved her arm to go over Tisha’s shoulder.
“I’m all healed hun, your arm is the only thing hurt,” Tisha said.
Tisha kissed Brightney gently on the lips. Brightney didn’t hesitate to lean in. The two of them kissed more. Tisha sliding her hands up Brightney’s shirt and Brightney holding Tisha’s head. They finally pulled away for breathing before Brightney pulled Tisha back in.
The two pulled away and placed their foreheads on each other, catching their breath.
“When was the last time we made out?” Brightney asked her hand back on Tisha’s shoulder.
“Hehe, I can’t remember,” Tisha responded, sliding her hand out from under Brightney’s shirt and onto her back.
Tisha gently rubbed Brightney’s back as they slowly swayed, almost starting to dance.
“Are you less worried now?” Tisha asked, looking into Brightney’s eyes.
“I-I don’t know,” Brightney replied, nuzzling her head into Tisha’s neck.
Brightney started to lightly sob into Tisha’s neck.
“Brightney…,” Tisha said softly.
Tisha pulled Brightney into a hug, holding Brightney as she sobbed. She rubbed Brightney’s back gently, keeping her close and whispering sweet nothings. Brightney started to calm down slowly.
Removing her head from Tisha’s neck, “I’m sorry.”
“What for?” Tisha asked as she wiped the tears from Brightney’s face.
“For crying,” Brightney responded, “I’ve been trying my best to hold everything in, to be strong for everyone–for you.”
“I’m here now, and I’m not going anywhere,” Tisha said, “You don’t have to be sorry about your emotions, because I know you. I never minded it then, so why would I mind it now?”
Brightney chuckled, lifting her hand to Tisha's and kissing it.
Tisha moved Brightney’s hand to her chest and kissed her gently on the cheek, “I much prefer when you’re happy.”
Brighney pulled Tisha into a hug, “I do too!”
Tisha hugged back, careful of Brightney's left arm.
“Wanna sit down and finish reading that book?” Tisha asked, pulling away.
“Sure,” Brightney replied.
The two walked back to the bed slowly, Tisha going back into the bed and Brightney moving to the side and grabbing the book. Brightney climbed into the bed and cuddled into Tisha’s side. Tisha held the left side of the book for Brightney as she held the right side, turning to the page and started reading.
“Bri, I’ma be honest with you, I got no fucking clue what this book is about,” Tisha said laughing.
“I was reading aloud to you and you weren’t listening?” Brightney asked, turning to her.
“Not really,” Tisha responded.
Brightney turned away from Tisha, looked down at the book, and closed it. She threw the book onto the nightstand, turned to Tisha and kissed her. She smiled at Tisha's confused expression before getting on Tisha’s lap and making out with her.
