Work Text:

Right after the world glowed white in their eyes and static buzzed in their ears, they were greeted with another world. A cloudy ground below their feet and a clear blue sky above them. The air was extremely fresh, way better than regular air on Earth. Not to mention the two returned to their younger selves — just with wings sprouting from their back and Zain had a golden ring floating above his head. However, Zain’s wings were pure white while Djin’s were the opposite of that. Well, he deserved it for attacking everyone. Djin remained in his spot, watching Zain fly away as Zain told him he was going to observe this place while the Inviso eyes scanned the endless area. It was peaceful.. that is for sure.

A female voice called out, “Djin?” And he froze in his spot, the familiarity resurfacing. His head snapped at the source of the person and it was her. The Tekno agent with a red hood over her black hijab, red and blue armour — it could not be... Her soft smile turned into a wider one and the agent waved happily to the Inviso with wide eyes. “Djin!” She said again, jogging over to the man who just stared down at her. “Welcome.”

To see her standing before him, smiling so happily like before he accidentally killed her — The old memories of everyone blaming him for her death. The isolation. The horror he felt when he saw her dead body. He remembered the punishment he received by Zain; being left in the villain’s base. He simply could not fathom the fact she still seemed as radiating as she did before she died. Aliya’s smile dropped into a frown, her eyes carrying a look of concern and confusion as she noticed the absence of the rational agent. “Are you okay?” She questioned, her voice darkening like in interrogations, “I mean your death was cruel.. But, this seems like something else..” Right, she was always the type to notice details like this.

Djin looked away, his black wings flexing out and then back in to ease his stress. The horrible treatment that he had to endure because of the accidental Iris incident left him absolutely wrecked. “I want to ask for forgiveness,” he began and Aliya’s eyelids opened wider as she stared. But, the more she listened, the more sympathetic she looked and her eyes returned back to their original shape. “Everyone blamed me for your death.. It haunted me a lot.. I did not mean to kill you — I just..” he ended it as he could not find the right words and Aliya just stared at the cloudy floor, small fog gathering by their feet.

She only smiled before she continued her response. “It’s okay.. I know you didn’t do it on purpose..” And she repeated, “I know you didn’t..” She let the silence go on for a bit before she opened her arms out, and Djin approached her and wrapped his arms around her. So, her right hand patted his back rhythmically as if she was consoling her child and let him rewind in this safe world.

As Djin shifted in her embrace so he hugged her better despite the height difference, he mumbled; “You’re short..” And Aliya just continued patting him, her smile slightly faltering for a moment and she was glad Djin’s head was away from her face otherwise he would have noticed she was about to beat him up. She could beat him up if she could, but she already watched the traumatic events in Djin’s life unfold and therefore she refrained from doing so. Djin had already been heavily ruined — she was not going to ruin him more.

She only replied calmly, “Not everyone is as tall as you, Djin..”
