Anything to Piss Your Brother Off

Summary:

Ryland was surprised when the Tom Ryder came up to him when he was visiting Colt on set, not that he was a fan or anything, he just assumed he would be off doing whatever it is rich assholes do, but when presented with the perfect opportunity to piss of Colt he takes it.

Chapter Text

Ryland had to be all but dragged along with Colt to set that day, he was tired after waking up super early the day before, not that he had needed to, he was just excited to see his twin, sue him. Which is probably how he ended up staring, but not really processing what he was seeing, as Colt did some stunt he was pretty sure involved doing a backflip off of a moving vehicle but he wasn’t certain.

“Why do you look like Seavers?”

“Holy moly!” Ryland nearly jumped out of his skin, not having noticed someone nearby, let alone as close as this man suddenly was.

Holy moly? What are you, my grandma? But seriously, you look like my stunt man but like, if he was trying to cosplay Mr. Rogers.”

“Well Colt is my twin, and I am a teacher so that’s not terribly far off,” honestly it wasn’t the most insulting comparison that could have been made.

“He never told me he had a twin, and certainly not one so cute.”

“We’re identical.”

“Yeah, but like, you’re still cuter than he is.”

Ryland finally turned to see who he was talking with, still kind of tired and out of it. He was greeted by a face he recognized, how could he not? Tom Ryder was a major actor, and while Ryland didn’t care much for celebrities it would be weird if he didn’t know the actor his brother was a stunt double for.

“So, does Colt Seavers’ twin brother have a name?” Tom speaking shook him out of his thoughts.

“Ryland, uh, Ryland Grace,” he stumbled over his words.

“Grace?” Ryland tensed a bit, not wanting to explain why the two had different last names, “that’s so fitting, fits you so much better than Seavers, although I think Ryder would fit even better.”

“Ryland Ryder? No, I don’t think so,” Ryland flushed, despite his protests, he wasn’t used to being flirted with even if the proposed name combo did sound a bit silly.

“You’re right, Tom Grace then.”

“Ryder, leave my brother alone,” Colt walked up behind Ryland. Honestly Ryland was just happy that he now didn’t have to think of a response to Tom Grace, which was something he would definitely be thinking about later that evening.

“Come on Seavers, we were just chit chatting, right sweetheart?”

“No, no no no no, you are not flirting with my brother. We’re going now Ryland.”

Colt grabbed his arm, spinning around before marching back towards his trailer. Ryland waved meekly at Ryder before stumbling to catch up with Colt. Once back at the trailer Colt turned to him, face as serious as Ryland had ever seen it.

“You shouldn’t talk to him.”

“Colt, I’m an adult man and I can handle myself, besides he literally just asked why I looked like you and what my name was.”

“Rylie, he is gross, if you give him an inch he’ll take a mile, I don’t care what you do just don’t do it with him, ok?”

“Sure Colt, I’ll make sure to factor in your opinion next time I tell someone my name.”

“I sense you don’t mean that but I’ll take it,” there was no use in lying to Colt so he resorted to sarcasm with him more often than not. They could read each other like an open book, none of that twin telepathy bullshit, just the fact that they had spent their entire lives together, nearly fused at the hip until they were fifteen and the foster system finally separated them.

The rest of the day was peaceful, well as peaceful as things got when Colt was around. They went out and got dinner, watched some dumb scifi movie that Colt insisted Ryland was going to love, and he kind of did despite how bad the science in it was, before Ryland made his way to Colt’s guest room and passed out immediately upon laying down.

Ryland woke up to something buzzing near him, he slapped around, trying, and failing, to grab his phone from the nightstand. He groaned as he felt it slip from his fingers and smack into the ground, fuck, he really couldn’t afford to break another phone. Bending forward off the bed was maybe not the best decision, considering his ironic lack of grace, but it didn’t come back to bite him just this once, as he heaved himself back up into the bed without smacking face first into the floor.

The screen was, predictably, blurry. Ryland quickly grabbed his glasses, sliding them onto his face before looking back at his phone.

Heyyy Ry baby, it’s Tom
Just wanted to say I’m sorry we got interrupted

How Tom Ryder had gotten his phone number was a mystery to him, the only person on that set that had his number was Colt, and based on Colt’s reaction to Tom talking to him for three minutes there was no way that Colt would ever give Tom his number. Lacking any caffeine, and impulse control in general, he tapped out a quick response.

It’s ok, Colt’s very overprotective so I wouldn’t take it personally.

Oh he does hate me
I know that
Hope it doesn’t rub off on you
You free tonight?

Was Tom Ryder, Hollywood famous Tom Ryder, asking him on a date? He weighed the pros and cons, on one hand he knew Ryder probably just wanted someone in his bed that night, on the other hand it would piss off Colt and Ryland was still looking to pay him back for all the shit he had pulled as a kid.

I am

Perfect
I’ll pick you up at 7?
Don’t worry won’t be too fancy
You’ve got a whole nerd vibe going on
I’ll make it something fun

Great, now Ryland had the whole day to worry about his upcoming date with a man he had talked to for maybe three minutes in total that he was really only going on to piss off his twin.
