Chapter Text
Through the halls beneath the mountain,
Through the smoke and endless night,
Walked a child with gentle footsteps,
Bearing songs of hope and light.
Violet eyes and hands unshaken,
Though the shadows filled the sky,
Still she sought the Fallen Vala,
Still she heard his silent cry.
"Melkor, thou needst not be lonely,
There remaineth good in thee."
But he turned away in anger,
And he would not hear her plea.
Though thou castest me aside,
Still I shall remain.
Though thy wrath be fierce and wild,
I shall speak thy name.
Past the iron and the sorrow,
Past the darkness of thy throne,
I remember who thou wert,
And I shall not leave thee lone.
Many years in dreadful Angband,
Many tears and many scars,
Still she sang beside his silence,
Like a little distant star.
When his voice became a tempest,
When his hand struck hope away,
Still she answered with compassion,
"I am here, and I shall stay."
Though thou castest me aside,
Still I shall remain.
Though thy wrath be fierce and wild,
I shall speak thy name.
Past the iron and the sorrow,
Past the darkness of thy throne,
I remember who thou wert,
And I shall not leave thee lone.
Then the mountains shook with thunder,
And the hosts of Valinor came.
Chains were cast upon the Dark Lord,
And the world was wrapped in flame.
Through the ruin and destruction,
Through her tears and through her pain,
"Melkor!
Melkor!
Wait for me!"
But they bore him far away.
Though thou vanish from my sight,
Still my song shall rise.
Though the Doors of Night divide us,
Still I hear thy cries.
And beyond the endless darkness,
Where the stars forever shine,
I shall sing until thou hearest,
And thy hand return to mine.
Held within her sister's arms,
Still she reached into the night,
While her tears fell upon the ashes,
And her voice became a light.
