Chapter 1

Summary:

Itrapped finally acts on their plan to kill chance for good.

Chapter Text

Itrapped and chance have been friends for a while now.

From Chance' side, he could share everything to them, from his gambling addiction he was fondly proud of, to all his problems and the things that were bugging him. But never once did itrapped share anything to him back. This one thing bugged chance alot. Chance would often distract or change the topic to ask about their past or simply just to know about them,

but alas, Itrapped didn't even trust him enough to show their face, since it was "censored", let alone their hobbies or favorite colour. Because of that, he felt insecure about their friendship but he decided to just live with it.

From Itrapped's perspective, Chance was nothing but a pawn. A reckless loser with a gambling addiction that will get him nowhere. Sure, he had 'lady luck' by his side and he came from a well-known family, but itrapped was certain that some day, his luck would surely run out and they would finally be able to kill him, obtain the key to the banlands and save their beloved friends.

But that day was supposed to come months ago. He was supposed to die months ago while itrapped had the opportunity. But Itrapped didn't kill him. They couldn't figure out why.

•||Flashback||•

“Oh boy, it sure is awfully cold and dark in here.” Chance let out a nervous chuckle.

“You sure this is the place you wanted to show me bud?” He turns to the figure behind him which locked the door, seemingly Itrapped. he couldn't tell since it was pitch black in the room he'd been led in by them.

The room mentioned above was actually an abandoned warehouse built deep within the forest, the yellow haired individual figured that it would be the perfect place to slaughter him.

“hmm.”

“Just hold on a bit, I have something to show you.” Itrapped spoke, Chance felt their hand move as if trying to find something though it was hard to tell since he could literally see nothing.

“If you say so, trappy.” His heart was beating real fast, even though he wasn't a person who ought to get intimidated easily, he had a weird feeling in his guts. God did Itrapped absolutely hate it when he called them 'trappy'. Well guess they wouldn't have to bear with that anymore.

“Where the hell is it?” Itrapped thought, irritated. They were pretty sure they put their sword here, some where—

“Oh here it is..” A pleased evil smile showed up on their face as they felt the hilt of the sword on their hand.

They slowly and punctiliously hovered the sword over Chance's neck. although they resented him, although they hated him more than anything, they ensured to keep everything in perfect order.

The room was dark, so he wouldn't be able to see his incoming demise, the sword was razor sharp, without blemishes so Chance wouldn't have to bear much pain before death. They even practiced a few nights before just in case, on various wooden tree trunks in the forest just to ensure that Chance received a clean cut, that triggered instant death without having to bear any pain. they staged all of this just after a fun gambling night so Chance doesn't feel like he didn't gamble enough before his death.

They shouldn't have cared much but oh well, it's his last night after all, this is the most Itrapped could do.

And then, Itrapped would move their hand and swiftly cut through Chance's head.

But oh wait. They couldn't even flinch a muscle. “What...” Itrapped thought, surprised, they were frozen in place, their hands still in the air. They couldn't bring themself to slice through Chance's nape, even though they practiced for hours and planned for weeks just for this exact moment, Something was holding them back.

Was it the fear of taking someone's life?
Was it the fear of getting caught?
Was it the fear of doing something terrible?
To take the life of an innocent individual?

Or

Was it the fear that they wouldn't be able to see Chance ever again?

They wanted to reunite back with their friends, save them from ban lands, spend time and hang out with them, laugh and crack jokes over wine, but weren't they doing this with chance too?

“snow flake?”

Itrapped made sure to savour every last moment they had with Chance, Even they didn't know why. Could it be that they caught a feeling or two for him? No, no no no that couldn't have been the case at all. In fact, This was the last thing that could've occurred. It was probably that they would finally never face Chance ever again.

“Itrapped..?” itrapped snapped back into reality. the grey haired man turned around to feel Itrapped's figure behind them, their hands still up in the air before quickly lowering them and hiding the sword behind their back.

Luckily it was dark, and chance couldn't see a thing.

“I think we should head back now, 'kay?” chance dubiously suggested. itrapped quickly placed the sword somewhere else, carefully without sound, where chance won't notice. “I... think so too..” itrapped replied, trying to act normal even though they knew that the fact that their very own body rebelled against their own mind was frustrating them more than anything else. About the blunder done by no one else but them.

Chance reached their hand out to find and then touch Itrapped's, as he held their hand and led them out of the dark room. Itrapped followed, deep in thought.

“You seem to be down about something huh?” chance spoke up as soon as they walked out in the moonlight. so he did notice. God they should've reacted better. itrapped sighed, they tried their best to hide their disappointment in their tone but whatever.

“No, that's not it.” oh but it was. Chance could sense a weird feeling coming from Itrapped.

“I was thinking about going out for a drink.” chance suggested, quickly letting go of Itrapped's hand as they stepped outside on the snow. “gosh, this forest gives the creeps, even to me.” Chance started to walk ahead, leaving trails of foot steps on the snow.

They walked their way out of the forest. Throughout the route, There was an awkward silence between them. chance looked up, then on to Itrapped. He wanted to say something but his mind couldn't figure out what to say. Itrapped on the other hand, kept his head low as they stared at the ground, lost in haze.

“So what was it that you wanted to show me?”

“Nothing interesting, really.” Itrapped replied, their face still not lifting up.

“Damn.”

Taking advantage of itrapped lost deep in thought, chance smirked.

He knew he was playing with fire but it wouldn't be chance if he didn't take any risks, So he reached out and grabbed itrapped's hand to tease them, but to his surprise, they didn't even flinch.

Chance was about to say something but then he quickly felt the frigidity coming from their hand. It was way colder so he quickly tried to let go but itrapped didn't let him. His sneaky move obviously backfired. he tried to release his hand again but itrapped gripped his hand more tightly instead, refusing to let go of his warm hand.

“sheesh, let go man!” Chance panicked.

“No, you're my personal hand warmer now.” Itrapped smirked.

Normally, Itrapped would back away quickly and grimace, maybe cuss and make a negative comment about chance. but this time, they didn't even back away, and instead held their hand even tighter. Chance found it weird, not that he exactly minded it though; the coldness coming from their hand was worth the sacrifice.

After that, they went ahead and bought some drinks. Chance noticed that it was starting to snow heavily, so him and Itrapped silently agreed to drink at home.

He was always like this, carefree, reckless, doing whatever he wants without a second thought; acting like the person he enjoyed to drink with and tease isn't the snake who's thirsty for his blood.

This is the 68th reason to kill him.
