Work Text:

Victim had a thing for sweets; that was the primary motive.

The moment Agent got home from work, he changed out of his work clothes and put on an apron. Tonight, he was making his first attempt at baking!

Agent wasn’t talented at everything. So, of course, this would be a little difficult to understand. But with the help of YouTube tutorials, he determined. After all, this is Victim we’re talking about. If anything, he’d rather give him something mediocre than nothing at all.

Oh, what was he baking? Donuts, of course. Specifically chocolate ones, he knows Victim has a fondness for chocolate flavored things.

Surprisingly, donut batter wasn’t too difficult to make. His turned out a little differently than the one demonstrated in the YouTube tutorial, but he was sure the outcome wouldn’t be too terrible.

With a smile, he finally placed the pan on the oven. Now, to wait.

For the first few minutes, he only stood in the kitchen floor, observing inside the oven to make sure he wouldn’t burn down the building or something. Don’t get him wrong, he’s not horrible in the kitchen. He cooks for himself nearly every day! After all, he does live alone. But cooking and baking were still very different things, and it’s not like he’s an extraordinary chef either. He just knows how to cook regular stuff.

His mind wanders off to Chosen for a moment, his heart staggering as he remembers the moment Chosen first tried one of his meals. A very basic one at that, but he still complimented it. Agent can’t help but smile at himself. If Chosen likes his cooking, then maybe his baking wouldn’t be too bad.

There was a knock on the door, snapping him out of his trance. When he goes to open it, he’s surprised to see Chosen, but without hesitation, he lets the man inside.

“Hey Chosen, what brings you here?” Agent gives him a greeting smile.

“Oh, nothing much,” Chosen stares at Agent for a long second before sniffing, “Smells good in here, are you making something?”

Agent hums before making his way towards the kitchen, “I’m making donuts for Victim,”

Chosen follows him, “Really?”

“Yeah, it’s my first time though, they might be a little mediocre,” Agent shrugs.

Chosen chuckles, “I’m sure they won’t be,”

Agent’s stomach churns as he hears those words. For some reason, having Chosen compliment him soothes his nerves, a part of him believes even more that he could make something great if he works hard enough.

He doesn’t realize how long he’s been staring at Chosen, both of them standing in front of each other in the kitchen in silence. Usually, nothing like this would feel awkward between them, they were used to the lack of words, that was until he had remembered he wasn’t wearing his shades. Chosen could directly know that he was being stared at. For some reason, that made Agent feel nervous.

Then, he heard an alarm go off. The alarm that he had set on his phone to let himself know the donuts were ready.

Agent turned his attention to the oven, “Okay, it should be ready,” He mumbled to himself as he took out the pan.

Both of their eyes inspected the rings on the pan. The…things that were supposed to be donuts. They were weird. More like cookies with holes on the center. But the holes were uneven, some larger, some smaller.

“Did I overcook them?” He questioned quietly.

“Definitely.” Chosen replied, his voice sharing the same tone.

Agent sighed in disappointment before turning the pan towards the trashcan. Chosen snuck a hand from behind him and took one of the “donuts.” Agent turned his head back when he heard munching, “You’re…eating that?”

Chosen shrugs, “It’s not that bad. Extremely overcooked is all, and too much sugar. But you said Victim likes sugar, right?”

Agent chuckles as he turns back to throw away the failed donuts, “Weirdo,” he says, his voice almost a whisper.

Second attempt. Agent made sure to add less sugar, and definitely less baking time.

He felt a warm body sneak up behind him, a head resting on his shoulder. Blood rushed to his face as he glanced to his side, Chosen was looking down and watching him bake.

“Need help?” He offered, his voice vibrating against his skin.

“No thanks,” Agent denied.

After that, Chosen wrapped his arms around his torso and rested his face against the crook of his neck. Agent allows it. After all, this is usually what they do when they see each other. Very regularly too. If stressed, Chosen would always be there to provide comfort after work. If feeling down, Agent would be there for him too.

It’s become something normal for them. But Agent does notice a small shift in Chosen’s behavior. He usually isn’t one to initiate contact, but today he’s all about it.

“How’s your day been?” Agent asks, still pouring ingredients into the bowl and whisk it all.

“It’s been good, actually. I took a walk,”

Agent smiles upon hearing that, knowing how Chosen normally loves being by himself, “Really? Streets must’ve been reallyyyy empty for that to happen,” He attempts a tease.

Chosen giggles, Agent feels the way his breath tickles his skin. “No, there were people, I just kind of tolerated it.”

“That’s good,” At last, Agent makes small rings out of the batter and places it on the pan. Chosen raises his head to watch. After a few moments, Agent starts to feel like he’s being watched. Like somebody had their eyes straight on him.

…Was Chosen looking at him?

When he glances down, Chosen was in fact not looking at him. Huh, that’s strange.

The second attempt wasn’t any better. Way too little sugar, and a little underbaked. It lacked sweetness, Victim surely wouldn’t like this one which meant it was below mediocre. He has to be at least exactly mediocre!

The third attempt, however, wasn’t perfect. But it was enough, according to Chosen. Seriously, no matter how bad the donut was, that man still ate it. Eventually, he just became his taste tester. Having one honestly felt like a luxury.

Too tired to change out of his apron, Agent sighed and sat down on his couch with a plate of multiple donuts. The donuts were for Victim, of course, but he had plenty. It wouldn’t be a crime for Agent to take at least four. He was starving.

Chosen sat beside him, “Tired already?”

Agent looked at him, “Yes, Chosen, did you bake 3 set of cookies tonight?”

Chosen’s eyebrows rose, as well as his hands, “Hey, I offered help and you denied. Don’t attack me,”

Agent giggles, “I’m just messing with you…” He says, taking a bite out of a donut, “You want one?”

“Sure,” Chosen takes one of the donuts from his plate, staring at it for a second before bringing it to the front of his face. He let out a small giggle before turning to Agent, “Hey Agent,”

The other man hummed and turned his head. He let out a small laugh as he saw the donut in front of his face, “Ohhh, I get it. Because you’re a hollow head, right?”

At that, Chosen lets out an adorable laugh. It’s sort of childlike coming from someone like him, small and a little high pitched. But hey, Chosen doesn’t have an actual hollow head. If he did, that would be sort of scary. But he does have a lot of accessories that represent that status.

“Hold on…” Agent brings a finger to move Chosen’s hand down, the hole of the donut now facing his septum piercing. There! That’s better!

Shortly after, Chosen eats the donut. His sharp canines basically destroying the damn thing. Aw, Agent didn’t even get to announce how his septum piercing matched the donut.

His train of thought suddenly paused as he watched Chosen pat one of his thighs. Almost immediately, he placed the plate onto the coffee table and lays his head on Chosen’s lap. “You can have that last one,” He says before snuggling himself onto the man.

“Thanks, they’re really good by the way,” Chosen says as he grabs the last donut and devours it within seconds.

“Really?” He smiles. And here he thought they were mediocre.

Chosen hums as he swipes his hand through his shirt several times before caressing Agent’s cheek, “I’m sure Victim’s gonna love them,”

At that moment, Agent felt like he was going to explode. He felt his eyes flutter close, his mind going off somewhere to Lalaland, a specific place there that only focused on Chosen’s touch. Chosen thinks his mediocre baking is really good. And he’s caressing his face.

Sadly, the touch didn’t last too long. Instead, Chosen’s hand made its final resting spot on his arm. He caressed it too, which Agent appreciated.

God, if Chosen thinks his baking is good then does it matter what Victim will think?

…Pfft, what is he thinking right now?
