Work Text:

On a particularly empty afternoon within Dornman Port, Lohen's thumb pressed against the light flap of the envelope, looking at the neatly folded report with a blank stare. His eyes shift to the other letters by the side of the table, all counting up to five in total. Two resupply requests for more bulk, and three mission status reports.

A sigh left his lips, looking out at the entrance way. His other hand raised his Harbor Fish Burger near his mouth, taking a bite. He always found it quite inefficient having to always borrow someone to deliver these, let alone trust that they won't be lost in transit. Maybe if he had some sort of carrier pigeon, it'd take a few minutes off his schedule.

His view consisting of unaccompanied stony architecture and training equipment was interrupted by a flash of pink and blue wings, flowing against the rush of air.

".. Ahh. The Anemo Archon really does grant wishes." Lohen chuckled, putting down the fresh burger onto the wrapper.

The fae was making her return towards the adventurer's guild, hurrying over at a consistent pace. Unfortunately, one of the vice captains was right behind her trail to halt her advances.

"O, wise advisor!"

Her steps slowed down, her ears perking upwards as she turned her head around. A familiar young man waved at her with his signature gentle smile as he caught up, her face changing from curiousity to slight dismay.

"Lohen... my name is just fine, you know."

He let out a small laugh, waving his hand. "Ah, spare me the unnecessary chatter. I've gotten just the job for you, if you want to save yourself from an hour of answering adventurers that lack common sense."

Just as he approached, he already turned his chest to face away from her.
"Come with me."

"Huh? I didn't even agree yet.."

"Well, when I lock onto a target, they're first come, first serve. Come on!"

The last part had a tone that was almost similar to a owner calling over their pet, making Linnea's eye slightly twitch. Nevertheless, she's not one to deny help. She turns around aswell, heading straight to the open office of books and paperwork.

The two walked over to the desk with steady feet. Lohen then steps aside to bow his head and hold out a welcoming arm, his hand gesturing towards the 5 letters in front of her.

"Linnea, I humbly assign you to be my personal delivery bird."

".. I'm sorry?" Her eyebrows furrow comically, looking at Lohen like he insulted her.

"Hm? Were my words not clear enough?"

The smell of a newly made burger began to stir a little yellow jack frost from their slumber, sleepily popping out of the backpack with little acknowledgement from the duo.

"No, no, I completely understand you. That's why I'm surprised. 'Personal'? As in me specifically?"

"Of course! Totally for.. unrelated purposes."

The vice captain watches her take a step closer and inspect the reports one by one, hovering over her without invading her personal space.

Lumi rubs it's eyes with its small fist, taking in their surroundings with little turns. Of course, it's keen nose picks up the crispy tones on its right, making them snap their view right onto the Harbor Fish Burger. The creature's eyes gleam in delight, checking if Linnea noticed too.

..Only to be met with some weird, eeirely looking man glancing over its partner's shoulder.

With a startled shriek, Lumi jumped at the sight, immediately switching to defense mode. The geo maces summon into their stubby palms as it charges for Lohen, letting out a battle cry.

"YA-HOO!!"

Lohen and Linnea could only look behind themselves for a split second before the dual weapons struck.

Yet, the geo smashed onto his metal shoulder pad with a thunk. The strong swing bounced back and hit Lumi square in the face, while jostling Lohen in the process. With little reaction time, he closed his eyes and grabbed onto the table as it shook with a tight grip, displacing the stacken books and scattering paper.

And as his eyes opened again, he blinked down at the awkward position he landed himself in.

Linnea was trapped between him and the desk, his arms securing her in place as his hands stabilized onto the edges of the smooth wood. Their faces were inches away, with a few loose hair strands brushing against the other. The only thing that held her dignity was the letters she was holding, covering half of her face. Even with such loose paper, he could feel the heat from her cheeks radiating onto his face.

She could only freeze in place, looking up at the guy who was currently towering over her on accident.

".. Not the most appropriate way to catch a bird, but still effective, right?"

His pensiveness transitioned into a soft smirk, his eyes observant on her every move.

"Oh, but this does give me quite the advantage.."

The crinkle in his eyes made a nerve creep down Linnea's spine, his warm body shielding her from the cold shores of the port.

"What will it be? Can't escape 'till you give me an answer. Time's ticking, milady." He used the term mockingly, the title 'oh-so-chivalrous' from his mouth yet carried itself like a taunt in front of prey.

"Unless, if you'd like to stay here all day," his finger flicking the edge of her twitching head wing, "You can waste your time, staying here with-"

A shove abruptly interrupted his sentence, her free hand scrambling for the reports in the messiest manner.

"Ok-okay! You've gotten your point across!"

Her body pushes him to the side, swiping up a knocked-out Lumi in the process into her arms. Her legs carry urgency as they rush her out of the quarters, her heart pumping while a weird case of butterflies tumbled in her stomach.

"Haha.. Don't lose them! I'll be counting on you, Linnea!"
