Soulmate Fortnight Day 9

Summary:

Injury Sharing

Work Text:

You didn’t think much of the marks at first, but that was when they were only bruises. Kids got dinged up all the time. You were a kid too, your parents pointed out when you asked; they were probably your bruises, not some soulmate you’d never meet.

Then you got older and significantly less clumsy and realized that yeah you probably did have a soulmate out there somewhere. And boy was he clumsy. Your arms and legs were frequently covered in dark marks you had no explanation for except to shrug away the concern of strangers who had the guts to ask.

It got worse in the lead-up to the UA auditions. You wondered if that mysterious soulmate was training for it. You certainly were. Your heft-telekinesis quirk had never gotten more use since usually you had no need to huck around hilariously heavy objects. The more something weighed, the easier you could move it with your mind. Great for hero-ing; weird for home life. What could your soulmate’s quirk be to get him so hurt?

Then came the entrance exam, and the answer crashed into you like the same wrecking ball that broke so many bones in your body. One minute, you were tossing around giant robots like they were balloons. The next, you were limp on the ground screaming. Bones broke under strain you didn’t cause.

Only when you were healed did you look over and see a cute, green-haired boy in the same position on one of the beds in Recovery Girl’s office. In that moment, everything clicked. This boy was your soulmate. “What the hell did you do to us?” you demanded, curious and irate in equal measure.

At least he had the decency to look sheepish, you supposed.
