Chapter Text
Being able to take a break was a rarity in passione, never mind a holiday.
There was always some job, some mission, even some paperwork. But his team really needed one. Fugo was proof enough of that, snapping even more frequently while trying to tutor Narancia, not to mention how Abbachio had started becoming even more withdrawn.
So what could it hurt? Bruno already had the perfect plan.
"Where?!"
"We're going to the beach." Bruno repeated.
Everyone stared at him like he'd lost his mind.
After a few seconds, Fugo finally brought himsepf to ask, "Is this for a mission?"after all, what else could it be for?
"No."
Fugo stared for a moment in disbelief, ok... then surely something else?
"Then surveillance?"
"No."
"A meeting?"
"We're going because it's summer." Bruno said firmly.
Still unconvinced Abbacchio let out an exhasperated sigh. "You're a terrible liar you know."
"Oh? And why is it so hard to believe?"
"We're not stupid, theres always something." He muttered. "...Although, on the off chance that's all it is we better get packed."
With that he went off to the kitchen, only for Narancia and Mista to zoom past, bags already overflowing with all sorts of nonsense.
"No time for that!" Narancia called out.
"Yeah, just stuff in what you can!" Mista agreed only for both to be stopped at the door crashing directly into Bruno.
Bruno didn't even flinch. "Abbacchio's right, now go pack properly and come back for suncream when you've done so."
"I don't suncream!" Narancia whined in protest. "Besides if I go back we'll lose time!"
"Narancia," Bruno said softly. "Last year you insisted you didn't need suncream, and you burnt so badly you couldn't wear a shirt for weeks."
"That happened once!"
"Twice." Fugo corrected. "Plus every year prior."
"Thats not t-"
"It's not up for debate," Bruno cut in. " Go pack properly."
With that Narancia let out a defeated huff and dragged himself back to his room to sort through his bag.
At this, Mista let out a cocky chuckle. "Honestly can y-"
"You too."
"But-"
"Mista."
That caused him to stop, he couldn't really argue, not when his capo was giving him that look. So begrudgingly, he also went back to sort his own bag out.
20 minutes later everyone was once again gathered in the hallway. Looking at their bags, Bruno slowly began to realise that maybe letting everyone pack their own bags was a mistake.
Fugo was first, and thankfully he'd been very practical about it... maybe too practical, a towel, swimming trunks, sunglasses, a book, plenty of bottles of water and at least three bottles of suncream.
"Why do you need three bottles?" Bruno asked.
"Well ones for me."
"Right."
"And the others." Fugos eyes flicked to where Narancia and Mista were standing. "Are precautionary measures."
"I see..."
Well at least he was thinking ahead, that sense of relief didn't last long though as Narancia shoved his bag into Brunos arms.
"Is this good?" He asked looking up at Bruno like a proud puppy.
Hesitantly, Bruno opened it. There was everything he needed, technically but so many beach toys, and...
"Is that a loaf of bread?"
"What if I get hungry?!"
"Then you can have some sandwhiches." Abbacchio cut in. "Now go put that back."
"Fine..."
Narancia grabbed the bread and headed back towards the kitchen.
Mista was next, his eyes flicked off to the side nervously as he handed Bruno, who was growing more suspicious by the second, his bag.
Bruno exhaled as he opened it, pinching the bridge of his nose. "What's this?"
"Well the waterguns are for a waterfight."
"Why are there seven?"
"One for everyone." Mista replied sheepishly.
That earned an eyeroll from Trish. "What makes you think I wanna get in a waterfight?"
"It could happen."
"And the salami?" Bruno raised an eyebrow.
"I gotta take something for the pistols!"
As if the mention of food was enough to summon them, the pistols swarmed Buciarrati pleading to let Mista bring their snacks.
"Alright..." Bruno finally relented. "Can you at least tell me where your towel is?"
"Giorno packed extra." Mista replied. "I'll be fine."
At this Bruno turned to Giorno. "Is that true?"
"Yes." Giorno shrugged. "I thought we might need some."
Satisfied, Bruno turned back to Mista. "You can't always rely on Giorno to remember, but I suppose it'll do."
The sex pistols cheered as Mista snatched his bag back muttering a small "thanks."
Bruno turned to Giorno next who was already infront of him, holding out his bag like an offering.
Inside there were bottles of water, swimwear, suncream, sunglasses and enough extra clothes and towels for the entire team.
Bruno didn't question it, he'd learnt better than that, besides it was clear from Mistas bag it'd all be necessary.
He gave Giorno a nod and Giorno went off to help the others apply their suncream. It was clear that some of them weren't going to manage on their own.
Then there was Trish.
"Finally." She muttered unzipping her bag.
Thankfully it was mostly normal, mostly.
"Trish?" Bruno looked her dead in the eyes. "Why is their 5 different outfits."
Trish simply stared back. "I need options."
"You do realise we're only going for a day?" Abbachio questioned.
"Well different beaches have different vibes, besides what if my outfit gets ruined, I don't wanna be wearing one of their shirts."
Her eyes flicked over to where Fugo and Giorno were trying to help Narancia and Mista apply their suncream
Bruno paused, it was clear arguing would be pointless. Then with a sigh he attempted compromise.
"Can we narrow it down to 3?"
"If I must."
With that Trish was dismissed, leaving only Abbacchio left.
"Do we really have to do this?"
"It's only fair."
Bruno checked his bag, it was actually normal, towel, swim shorts, suncream, shades, towel. Everything packed perfectly.
"Thankyou." Bruno let out a sigh of relief.
"Did you really expect any less?"
Bruno hummed in response. "Well part of me wasn't sure you'd come."
At this Abbacchio simply shrugged. "Someones gotta keep an eye on those idiots."
"I suppose so."
As he walked away Bruno finally allowed himself a small, somewhat exhasperated smile. They sure could be a handful at times. But at least they all were smiling again. And thats all he could really hope for.
