Work Text:

“Lynx.”

“mhm?” Lynx averted his attention to Tiger, glancing up at him from the bed.

“can i practice a spell on you?” Asked Tiger innocently.

“oh…what spell?” Lynx hesitated, wary of Tiger’s request.

He trusted his boyfriend, no doubt. However, Tiger hasn’t mastered the technique of spells yet and it usually ends with him messing up somewhere in the process.

“a shapeshift spell.” Tiger reassured, having no intentions of misleading Lynx. “it’s completely safe, even if it fails,” Tiger reassured. “please, na?”

Tiger was looking at him with wide and glimmering eyes, lips perked in a hypnotic gaze and Lynx was stuck in a manipulative trance. The words fell off his tongue naturally, instantly giving in to Tiger’s malleable tactics.

“fine!” Lynx muttered, secretly loving all the attention Tiger was giving him.

“really? can i?” Tiger perked up instantly, excitement flourishing through him like a kid.

“yes, you can try this stupid spell on me.” Groaned Lynx, wishing Tiger would hurry up and get this over with.

Tiger kept the smirk plastered over his face, smiling ear to ear as he places a gently kiss to Lynx’s cheeks as a mini…“thank you.”

Lynx tried not to smile, failing the moment he looked over at Tiger, his ecstatic look making him cave in instantly.

He stood a few steps away, Tiger lifting his wand and mumbling a spell towards Lynx until…his wand flashed a luminous glow around him and Lynx could feel it.

His head felt fuzzy, torso feeling numb and a sharp sensation ran through his body. His eyes squinted in anticipation, peeping open slightly when he looked back at Tiger and he was still the same height.

maybe the spell didn’t work?

but with with way Tiger was looking at him, half shocked and half smirking, he knew something wasn’t right.

“oh my god.” Tiger snickered, unable to contain himself.

“what?” Lynx asked, unaware of what Tiger had just done…

Tiger pointed at the mirror, coherent words too difficult right now and the way Lynx’s face dropped sent him over the edge.

“what did you do?!” Lynx shrieked, glancing in the mirror and what looked back at him was Lynx…with lynx-like ears and a tail!

“uhm…” Tiger started, his eyes glued to Lynx’s additional features. “i’m not sure”

Lynx blinked at his reflection, eyes all wide and confused. He was still Lynx but…his perky ears twitched and his pupils turned into unrecognisably narrow slits.

“well, on the bright side, it’s kind of cool?” Tiger suggested, immediately shut down when he saw the way Lynx was glaring at him. “or…not.”

“turn me back.” Lynx demanded, turning away from the mirror and standing in front of Tiger now, lifting up his wand for him.

“i don’t know how.”

“you what.” deadpanned Lynx, his last straw becoming brittle and blocked. “you practiced a spell on me that you don’t know how to reverse?!”

“well…i can try?”

Lynx let out a long, exaggerated sigh. He hesitated for a moment, giving his tail one last look then nodded.

Tiger took a step back, murmuring another spell and when the light hit Lynx time…his ears lowered and his head hung low.

“ow!” Lynx yelped, a sudden burst of noises hitting his new fluffy ears and they pulled back instinctively.

“sorry!” Tiger jumped right to his side, his gentle hand falling onto his shoulder; which seemed to help.

Lynx looked back up, his tail swaying slightly at the touch. Tiger seemed to notice, a small smile playing on his face but he brushed it off. “are you okay?”

“mhm, it was just loud.” Lynx mumbled, ears still twitching at noises that Tiger couldn’t hear.

“you might have to stay like this for a while.”

Lynx sighed, already annoyed but this was the cherry on top. Both of them were behind on course work and being stuck in a cat-laying or body is the last thing he needed on his plate!

“fine.”

Rolling his eyes, Lynx stayed quiet and pondered on how he could fix this himself but nothing came to mind. They hadn’t practiced reversing spells yet and you couldn’t just search up dangerous spells like that on the internet, so it seemed that Lynx would be stuck with his new ears and tail for quite a while.

The way Lynx stilled under Tiger’s palm didn’t go unnoticed, raising a brow as he felt the muscles tense underneath him. Tiger observed him again, analysing the furrow between Lynx’s brows, the subtle flick of his protruding ears and the slow, curious sway of his tail that would go unnoticed by someone not paying attention.

Tiger was paying attention.

maybe even too much attention, but he couldn’t help it. He looked adorable like this but he wouldn’t say that out loud, not unless he wanted Lynx to claw him to shreds.

However, concern still bubbled inside of Tiger. He didn’t know much about transformation spells, but he did know a lot about cats, and cats have heightened sensitivity to noise.

perhaps he could help?

Tiger abruptly drifted away from Lynx, who caught his wrist with a desperate speed considering his previous ‘unbothered’ facade.

“where are you going?” Asked Lynx in a calm tone, or what he thought sounded calm but the reassuring softness on Tiger’s face spoke otherwise.

“nowhere, just helping.”

Lynx gave a suspicious eyebrow raise but eventually loosened his grip on his wrist, loosing the soft rhythm of his pulse and instead watched with his piercing eyes.

Tiger approached the window, slipping his fingers around the ledge and gently shutting it; blocking out unwanted racket from the city below.

He grabbed his wand again, waving it to the lamp and suddenly the bulb became dimmer, emitting a soft and cozy glow onto the atmosphere around them.

Tiger walked back up to him, readjusting his view as Lynx appeared closer in his frame of sight. He was met with a gentle smile shooting up at him, those dangerous eyes looking more soft around the edges.

“thank you.”

Tiger dropped a small kiss on his lips, Lynx immediately chasing after more as he caught his lips again with a slower, deeper kiss.

Lynx couldn’t stop himself, he pressed closer to Tiger’s lower lip, sucking every flavour out of him. As Lynx didn’t hold back, he frowned at the sudden movement from Tiger; flinching and pulling back as his hand raised to his lip.

Lynx must have caught his fangs, which he was unaware he had, on Tiger and the unexpected sharpness caught him off guard.

Panic filled in Lynx’s chest, almost instinctively taking another step closer towards Tiger. He pulled his wrist down gently, eyes fixated on the small puddle of blood that was pooling in the corner of his mouth.

“shit- i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to-“ Lynx started, stopping soon after when he felt Tiger’s large and calloused palms cupping his cheek.

“it’s okay,” Said Tiger. “you didn’t mean to.”

“but i should have been more careful.” Lynx slowly wiped away the blood, staining his own thumb but that was the least of his worries — even below being half lynx half human.

“i’m fine, it was just a pinch.”

“let me help clean it.” asked Lynx, dragging Tiger to the bed before he could answer. Tiger sat down on the edge, watching Lynx rush over to the shelf and grab the first aid kit.

Once he was back over to the bed, all over Tiger, he grabbed some cotton to help soak the crimson liquid up and gently patted it along Tiger’s lip.

Tiger watched as his ears twitched back with concentration, finding it absolutely adorable. The shallow slits of his pupils latched onto him and Tiger couldn’t help but hear his heart rate picking up.

As Lynx finished sterilising the wound, he noticed Tiger’s eyes were on him and he could feel his stomach doing relentless flips. His tail swept from side to side in a slow motion, automatically reacting and Tiger obviously noticed.

“that’s interesting.” Tiger observed.

“what?” Asked Lynx, utterly clueless.

“your tail,” He mumbled, lips twitching up into a recognisable pattern. “it’s moving again.”

Lynx took a sharp breath in, glancing over his shoulder and his tail was, in fact, swaying in a lazy rhythm.

His cheeks flushed a light pink, eyes roaming away and across the room as facing Tiger would wreck him.

“did i do that?” Tiger asked again, a smug smile written in his wounded lips and Lynx was aware that he was loving every second of this.

“no.” Insisted Lynx, too fast, too guilty.

Tiger knew, but he loved riling Lynx up, especially with his new features; they were assisting him with the teasing!

“that’s a shame,” Tiger sighed, dramatically. “you’re cute when you’re like this.”

Lynx couldn’t control his ears from perking up like pointy mountains, tail wagging along from one side to the other, giving away his stubborn and unbothered exterior.

“shut up.” Lynx warned, earning a small chuckle from Tiger.

“i didn’t say anything!”

“you said it was cute.” Deadpanned Lynx, eyes narrowing like an angry kitten and Tiger could feel his heart melting in his chest!

“because you are.”

The way Tiger could say that so simply only made Lynx’s current state worse. His cheeks were flushed, breaths became shallow, he found himself nibbling on his lower lip and…

he couldn’t stop his stupid tail from moving!

As if Tiger saying those things weren’t already agitating enough, he now had a tail and ears ratting him out!

Lynx felt how the unfamiliar muscles reflexed, twitching at every detail, whether that was from Tiger or a heightened noise outside, it was starting to become very inconvenient!

As Lynx turned away, trying his absolute hardest to stop his tail from moving without his permission, Tiger abruptly interrupted with a question that definitely caught him off guard.

“can i touch them?” Tiger asked, calmly, while Lynx choked as soon as the words left his tongue.

“what?”

“your ears.”

Tiger’s gaze shifted back up to the fluffed up ears, one bending to the side slightly which created a curious expression and he was absorbed by Lynx’s inability to hide his reactions!

His pupils stuck back to Lynx, eyes all big, pleading, innocent like a deer caught in headlights and Lynx just couldn’t say no — even if he despised himself for it.

“…why?” Asked Lynx, skeptical, but Tiger didn’t rush. He stayed in place, gazing at Lynx completely starstruck and that was not helping Lynx one bit.

His tail continued to wag slowly, occasionally sweeping across the floor as his ears were still and frozen in place, as if he hadn’t already been caught out.

“they look…” Tiger paused, analysing the strands of hair that merged around his ears and he couldn’t help but admire him for a moment before continuing. “soft.”

Lynx didn’t respond, he couldn’t.

He felt as if the air was punched out of his lungs and the words dangled on the tip of his tongue. If Tiger kept saying stuff like this he was bound to lose it.

Without saying anything, he stepped closer and crouched down slightly to let Tiger fulfill his request. Tiger hesitated, hand hovering by his hair and he whispered…

“can i?”

“mhm…”

Tigers hand felt so soft gliding through his hair, but as soon as he reached his ears…they fell flat instantly and pointed outwards.

Tiger was about to explode from how smitten he was over Lynx, gently stroking his fingertips across the fluffy texture of his ears. Lynx found himself leaning into the touch, tail roaming from left to right as it pleased in triumph.

As Tiger continued to ruffle his hair, Lynx’s ears kept getting provoked by the gentle touch, twitching under every sweep of his fingers and he could even hear himself…purring?!

Tiger stopped abruptly, fingers still stuck in between the strands of hair and when Lynx looked back up at him…he was even more adorable!

Lynx was absolutely mortified, running a hand down his face, but Tiger seemed to be eating up every second of this — looking far too smug for Lynx’s liking.

“don’t.” Lynx exhaled sharply, his slit pupils piercing straight through Tiger.

“but-“ Protested Tiger, swallowing thickly, his gaze still attached to Lynx’s.

“Tiger.”

“alright,” As silence filled the air between them, Tiger couldn’t help but ask what was on his mind as it was slowly eating him from the inside. “but did i do that?”

“Tiger!”

Silence surrounded them, practically suffocating Lynx as his breathing stopped completely when he became hyper aware of the fact he was just purring!

This couldn’t get anymore humiliating.

Although, Tiger wasn’t teasing. Instead, Lynx found him just staring, completely starstruck.

in a way, that was worse.

The way Tiger admired him in awe, like he was some sacred treasure, made his breath stutter and tail sway.

“you have to let me do this spell on you again.” Tiger spoke not long after, another gentle smile on his injured lip.

“you haven’t even got rid of this one yet!” Whined Lynx, a small frown creeping up on his face and he could feel Tigers gaze on him again.

“maybe i don’t want to.” Tiger whispered playfully, dropping a quick kiss to his cheek.

and of course, Lynx’s tail just had to respond for him!

Lynx heard the quiet chuckle from Tiger, irritation still bubbling under his skin but this time it felt less loud, more forced.

maybe he didn’t mind the spell so much?

After all, Tiger did love cats, so maybe this just means he finds him 101% cuter than before.

Lynx felt the way his ears twitched again, his own imagination getting the better of him but he let Tiger watch, more relaxed this time.

“seriously, Lynx, you’re too cute like this.” Tiger admitted, carefully reaching out and tugging on Lynx’s wrist, pulling him closer. “but if you really don’t like it, i can go to the library and try find the spell to remove it.”

Lynx sat down on the bed with him, Tiger immediately scooting over and letting him have his spot. “it’s fine, we will figure it out tomorrow.”

“so you don’t mind the ears and tail?” Teased Tiger, eyebrows disappearing above the long hair that fell in front of his forehead.

“just go to sleep, na?” Lynx whined, playfully swatting Tigers arm until he felt it wrap around his petite waist; his tail acting up once again. “otherwise, i’m going to have to become a loaf on top of you and not budge.”

Tiger took his words more so as a victory than a threat, yet his eyes were still glued to the slow sweep of his tail and the way his ears eased into a relaxed state, gently twitching against Tigers shoulder.

Tiger slowly intertwined their fingers, his thumb caressing the dips of Lynx’s knuckles in an unrushed pace. His eyelids became heavy, the last thing he seen was Lynx’s tail brushing against his leg when he mumbled…

“sweet dreams, Lynx.”

Lynx sighed with contentment, tail moving involuntarily in its slow manner, eyelids falling shut and his ears drooping low, ready for a long nap ahead of him.

And through the night, Tiger could have sworn he felt Lynx snuggling closer to him, his head brushing against his shoulder, and a subtle purring under his breath…and Tiger absolutely adored it!
